Taeyang has a lot of RnB in his music all along throughout 2001 to present. He does have an album coming out.. His favorite artist is MJ. Funny enough He's often referred to as the "Korean Usher" many of his influences stem from hip hop, New Jack music.

I love you vibing so hard to this haha! Kpop overall has been influenced historically by 80s and early 90s music since like 2009 ish, maybe even earlier! For us, the Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic type sound was something that was always there in Kpop. I think you'd love the sound for sure if you dive in! I recommend Magic Shop by BTS...the live version in Tokyo is the bestttt.
