Fun fact: The confetti at all Girls' Generation concerts is perfumed. And they always let it out at "goosebumps" moments. I think it's because sense of smell is very closely related to memory. Fans often take it home so they can feel the same emotion by smelling it later. Also, I think your reactions to her are really genuine and super fun to watch. Girls' Generation is just as versatile (with slightly more mass-pleasing music). Taeyeon is obviously the best in GG vocally, but other members are pretty mind blowing too. Even the lead vocals are better than many main vocals these days. So please react to The Boys, Mr. Mr., You Think and Into The New World (this is their debut song, but DO NOT react to the Tokyo Dome Ballad version first. Trust me, there is a reason for that)

Taeyeon is called "King" for reasons obviously demonstrated by this compilation ( which, nonetheless, because of its focus, still shows only a part of her extraordinary range). Taeyeon was that exceptional among thousands of applicants to SM, that SM could have promoted her as a soloist from the start, but I guess SM were more commuted to the concept of a "female Super Junior" that would need a great main vocalist...but SNSD ended up with 4 other 'good-to-great" vocalists ( the vocal line) that could have been main vocalists for any other 4/5 member group. Just as Taeyeon is truly amazing live as a soloist, so is SNSD amazing live as a group ( though, as a group, they are 'different', apart from being totally dedicated to the performance, for themselves, and especially for the fans. This is why they are "legendary". And you to have to check out Tae Ti Seo (TTS) which is the SNSD subgroup that arguably represents a very important step in Taeyeon's journey to become a soloist.

I'd say start with Girls' Generations I Got A Boy (2013), but if you're ready for a double MV feature, you could also watch Gee. They're both incredibly iconic K-pop songs, Gee (2009) being in atleast the top 2 for sure (not including 1st gen in this). Their debut 'Into The New World' is one of the most iconic and celebrated debuts to come from a K-pop group. It's used as kind of an 'unofficial' initiation test for every female rookie group and is used in many S. Korean protests as an anthem. But it came out in 2007 and that will be a major throwback into a whole other sound and aesthetic of K-pop, so I wouldn't recommend you begin with it. 'The Boys' (2011) is another great song to check out. It came out at the point when the group was at the absolute peak position in the S.K music industry and alot of Asia and they had started breaking out in the West. Alot of their music may sound a little outdated now to people more accustomed to newer K-pop, but what's interesting about that is that you'll see glimpses of all the popular groups you watch rn and identify where alot of that inspiration came from and where certain tropes and sounds originated from. When the 2nd gen groups did these in the early 2010s, it was brand new. A little background: You've probably heard this quite a few times by now, but they were titled Nation's Girl Group by the S.Korean media and public. Their song Gee (named the Song of the Decade at its release) created an absolute frenzy in the nation and industry and had a 9 consecutive win-streak that was only broken years later by Psy's Gangnam Style in 2012. They were originally 9 members, and now have 8 (even though 3 of them are no longer signed to Sm ent.) You can check out Lil Touch by their sub-unit Oh! GG (the 5 members still with SM) because it's their most recent release ( not so recent anymore, but the rumours are SNSD has a comeback planned for 2021 *fingers crossed*). The really remarkable thing about them is that in their prime, they were dominating over all major boy groups, which is still something that unfortunately doesn't happen often in K-pop. And also the fact that despite K-pop now having transitioned into the 4th gen, their popularity and legacy as a 2nd gen group is still insane. Every member of SNSD is a household name in their home country, with acting, singing, dancing, DJing, modelling, entrepreneurship, hosting, songwriting credits to almost all of them combined.

It is hard to recommend SNSD MVs with them not having an album since 2015 so a lot of people say they have an 'older' style although that was what was popular back then. So like if you wanted to hear their 'newer' style, you would have to go with their subunit Oh!GG and listen to "Lil Touch" which was released in 2018, but their music is so diverse and most of us prefer their Japanese songs over the Korean ones. AND because Girls Generation has so many different styles of music, it is more like what do you want? Mr. Mr, Catch Me if You Can, All Night (Clean version) and The Boys are probably your best bet for liking in the Korean discography. Their Japanese songs are better to get live so like Karma Butterfly, TOP, or Animal
