@@TwoBrosRC Yeah, or more accurately, it signals “my owner doesn’t do resistors well.” I know I dont, and most RC OEMs dont. Inevitably LEDs start to flash then die. I kinda look foward to the flashing before dying phase, too. From some internet site: “LED (light emitting diode) lights are low-current electronic components. As such, they cannot be connected directly to a typical household battery without running the risk of burning out from too much current. To prevent a single LED (or chain of LEDs) from burning out, a resistor load is placed in the circuit to limit the amount of current that flows through the LED(s). Typical LEDs operate within a range of a few milliamps of current and under 3 volts of direct current power from a battery. A resistor load of approximately 100 ohms will prevent a common 5 mm red LED from burning out. Vary the values of resistor used. Larger resistors will cause the LED to glow dimmer. Smaller resistors will cause the LED to glow brighter. However, too small of a resistor (or too large of a battery) will cause the LED to get hot and burn out.”
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah, I didn't bother powering it with a properly resisted system. I just attached a Freewing LED Controller V3 knowing it would kick out more voltage to make the lights brighter and show up better as a landing light. Not surprised it's being overdriven, but I don't mind.

Tony is an excellent pilot. One thing I would nit pick is not countering the pro-verse yaw when rolling and inverted. This twists his yaw axis into a corkscrew in the direction of roll while upside down and rolling (1:43). It also happens on his loaded Cuban 8 inverted rollouts, that is on the 45 degree down lines, too, bending left-to-right passes tighter to the camera, and vice versa. E-Flite in their infinite wisdom made it way worse with the amount of differential aileron they include (0:44). Inexperienced aircraft designers think that differential ailerons counters adverse yaw. It does, but only during the upright portions of roll. During the inverted portions of a roll, differential ailerons exacerbate adverse yaw. So you do not want differential aileron in an aerobatic airplane. A better solution is to mix it in as flaps come down, since that is a good indicator you are upright and a high lift flight regime. But even without the beginner E-Flight setup magnifying adverse yaw 2x while inverted, good aerobatics still needs counter-aileron coordinating rudder when inverted and pro-aileron coordinating rudder while inverted. Adverse yaw pulls-on the up-going (higher lift or counter-gravity vector) wing, tugging it backward. Since rudder control is connected in the opposite yaw direction when upside down, as viewed from above, rolls need counter-aileron rudder to coordinate the yaw axis to the flight path while inverted. I think that will help align his Gods-eye view heading changes during inverted rollouts on the Cuban 8 down lines to the flow axis of the maneuver. I would also mix-out the differential aileron in E-Flites beginner set-up to create an aerobatic setup.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback man. I let him know. With regard to setups, this is a totally custom setup using brand new servos throughout the flight controls. Nothing is stock about this. There shouldn't be any differential in the aileron movement. I think it just looked like that because you didn't see the ailerons moving in opposition clearly at 0:43 - I didn't really pan the shot early enough to catch it.

Fantastic flying, Tony, and great camera work Mr. The day has come... Incoming is second Viper (I currently own the EF Viper 70mm), this beautiful Viper 90mm aircraft is second to none. I love the Viper, for every reason. I'm also curious for maximum rudder authority in a precision knife-edge with this Viper 90mm, do you move the position of the rudder hole on the rudder horn to the innermost position for maximum physical throw, or travel?

Thanks Rich! I'll pass on the burner, I don't think it'll hold up in appearance on this jet. Just isn't my thing for civilian jets. Hey Jon quick question on those AGFrc B13DLM servos for the Viper, do they drop right in place or is there modification needed and where did you make the splices, all the way at the connection at the root of the wing or Midway? Thanks
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
They're a bit bigger than the stock servos so you'll have to cut the little wings off them and sand them smooth, potentially, before they'll fit into the servo pockets. Once that's done, they drop in. You can solder the servo wires into the wing pretty easily by just cutting the original servo lead wherever you think it will fit best (check the length of the new servo first) and soldering/heat shrinking the two leads together.
@sirstomper
@sirstomper 2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC I've removed The Bad flap Servo and had to remove some of the plastic around the retracts so I can get to the wire but there is not a lot of room there to make a splice hopefully when I get to the ailerons servos it'll be a little easier/more room will see. The new servos are on their way, thanks for your help!

Hi Jon, just a thought, why not bring a weed Wacker out to the field someday and smooth out that lumpy growth in the cracks to give yourself and your planes more enjoyable takeoffs and landings?
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the idea! Unfortunately, here's why I won't be doing it: I don't have a weedwhacker powerful enough to clear the taxiway. I brought my electric out a couple of months back and gave up - it simply couldn't get the stubborn crab grass to remove itself from the pavement. I use about 388 feet of the taxiway to take off and land. This is a lot of space to clean up by hand as we're rapidly approaching summer and the hottest part of the year - the part where NWS recommends that you stay indoors until 8pm or later due to extreme humidity and heat. That being said, I did empty most of a container of glyphosate on the taxiways after doing some F-22/Ultimate 3D practice off-camera a couple of days ago. If all goes well, it will have been defoliated by the next time Tony and I go out to shoot some footage together.

@@TwoBrosRC Ah Ha, I see. By chance do the Airport Maintenance people that sometimes cut the grass you had mentioned once I heard you say, might be enticed with a bottle 🍾of their favorite beverage to do it if they have the equipment? 🤔😉👍🍾🍾 Just a thought.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
Very doubtful. The guy who cuts the grass only does it because that's the payment for being able to set up shop on the land with whatever business he's doing. He keeps the grass on the property mowed and the owner lets him do whatever on the land so long as it doesn't encroach on airport ops. It's a weird arrangement.

Crow??? Doesn't that destroy some of the lift at the time you want the most lift for the slowest landing speed? Why not flaperons in addition to the flaps? Both hanging in the wind add drag, but flaperons add lift.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 жыл бұрын
Because adding more lift would make it much more likely to asymmetric stall the model on approach. Crow introduces washout to the wingtips and generates a lot of drag, allowing a powered approach that's easy to maintain while sustaining a high angle of attack for a nose up touchdown.
@roymoon1
