Frédéric Arnault, the 27-year-old son of LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, became CEO of TAG Heuer in July 2020. The fourth child of Bernard Arnault graduated from the École Polytechnique in France. After an internship at Facebook's AI division in New York, he joined TAG Heuer in September 2017, which was then led by Jean-Claude Biver.
Frédéric Arnault usually works from Tuesdays to Fridays in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where TAG Heuer's headquarter is located. From Fridays to Tuesdays he is in Paris, where he has an office at the LVMH headquarters and at the TAG Heuer office which deals with connected watches.
Frédéric Arnault leads +/- 1,600 worldwide employees. The turnover of TAG Heuer is somewhere in-between 700 million to 900 million Euro. Since LVMH does not disclose numbers for individual brands these figures might be incorrect of course. But one thing is correct: Frédéric Arnault targets a turnover of one billion Euro per year.
It is the first time we speak to Frédéric Arnault. In our conversation we taped at Watches and Wonders in Geneva he describes his vision for the brand that was founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer. Jack Heuer, the great-grandson of the founder, still is the honorary chairman of the company.

Fred seems like visionary leader , he’s young , smart , polite and respectful and passionate at what he does ( from how he master his piano playing skill ) he’s cool , he’s good for Lisa and they seem comfortable with each other Lisa seems happy when she interacted with him and he’s so supportive of Lisa too , made time to cheer for her at Coachella despite his busy schedule , regardless of what relationship they are , I’m happy for them as a fan of Lisa .

I think the reason younger people like myself and others don’t have these fine watches is because we simply can’t or will never be able to afford them based on how we are paid. Companies, especially, for instance in the U.S.A. Pay below standards of living while price gauging and raising rent prices. It’s not that we don’t want it it’s simply because we don’t have time to save for one and we’re always working to be able to put food on the table or have a roof over our heads. I rather have a roof over my head with a $50 dollar quartz watch than on average $$3,500 watch living on the streets.

There is a reason Verstappen takes of his TagHeuer once he finishes the race and puts on another steel sports watch which he favours. Problem of TAG Heuer is that it does not have anything that appeals. I would bet even this CEO does the same. Perhaps its time to drop the Tag and move towards Heuer only.

"Today's culture" according to TAG and Frederic means smartwatches and NFT displays that offer no lasting value to their customer beyond a few years. However, that's the point. Get NEW and YOUNG customers to commit to a first luxury timepiece purchase. Maybe they'll come back. Could they sell more Carrera and Autavia re-issues? Of course. But TAG and Frederic believe in exploring watch space that few else are trying, as well as trying to keep prices below stablemates Zenith and Hublot.

This brand is to going to do a lot better because of Frederic's dating rumors with Lisa of Blackpink. Lisa is self made, Frederic Papa made. Would he really be a CEO at any company at the age of 27 years old if his dad was not a billionaire? Having said that, he seems to be a nice guy from a close net loving family. It seems that he and Lisa will be well suited. My prediction, Lisa and Frederic will be engaged within 2 to 3 years and married in 3 to 5 years. His seems to be absolutely smitten with her, and she flattered by him. Also, her dad is European; Swiss/French so this will be familiar to her.

I like this CEO, I was a bit sceptical in the beginning, like yeah he is just a protégé placed by his dad, but he is doing very well and the results are really good with the Porsche and Verstappen partnerships and a really nice lineup of watches… the solar and lightweight Aquaracers, the black Monaco, that crazy tourbillon… he really saved the brand after the Biver shock treatment

Yeah, Tag Heuer should be in the "Longines-price" category. Yeah, a few walks outside that are ok but I feel that Tag Heuer is moving higher and higher. Yes, a lot of "watch enthusiasts" don't like Quartz wrist watches but I feel like Tag Heuer has lost that segment (meaning here the Formula 1) out of view.

@@gianpakasa Yeah, the current F1 is roughly 20% too high in pricing. Especially when you look at the Aquaracer which is much better in terms of quality but only 150CHF higher in price. What I feel they could do is to make a plastic composite watch similar to the Aikon Tide from Maurice Lacroix. Use good quality products, price it accordingly (500CHF +/-), maybe even use recycled plastic and voila, you have that market segment. Maybe Alexander should give them hints 🤣.

I love Tag Heuer watches. I’m the proud owner of three Aquaracer and I correct my friend by telling them how good they really are. But, Tag need to back me up on their quartz models by getting the simplest task of getting the second pointer to hit the marks. It cheapens the watches. I have 4 Casio that hit the indexes perfect. Even the solar watch on this video is off. Come on, get the little details right.

the "in-house" thing is a weird thing to impose on TAG. I think that a Tag is meant to be worn and beaten, and if beaten a little too hard one day, they should be easy to repair/service (and affordable, too). Same kinda goes for an ETA powered Tudor. Newer Tudors are trying to build value beyond being "budget Rolex", but a Tag isn't.

I think tag Heuer could dominate the 3-4k dollar range with the Carrera and Aquaracer if they only could do some small things like up the resistance to magnetism to a set say 1000 gauss and maybe put say a sw220 or 2892 in the watches. Maybe even cosc cerify them. Since Tudor seems hell bent of sticking to only making retro black bays and Breitling and omega wants to go upmarket that leaves tag with one of the biggest segments of the market to rule. If they want to that is.

My first Swiss watch was a simple Tag 27 years ago and my second Tag from 2001 is the Link Chronograph the one Jason Bourne wore in the first Bourne movie. I really like them and they are dear watches for me. However, today's Tag lost its history and its identity in the past 15 years. For the love of God please dip into your catalogue of the past in a more authentic way. Reissuing a watch that's 20% bigger and completely out of proportion when compared to the original is not effective. Also I'm completely fine with smart watches but you need to commit to mechanical watches in a stronger way and ditch the quartz garbage. It's devaluing your brand. People are very savvy these days and they know you're putting a $50 movement in a $2000 watch. This is insulting to the consumer.

Nice interview but I will be extremely critical with regards to brand and products. Although the romance of Jack Heuer history and the models which were made in period were great, today, I don't understand this brand, its branding, its direction. I only see it as a survivor. The vintage watches re-editions reconnected the brand to its organic past but other than that, as we say in French: "image à définir". Frederic talked about associations with football whilst the brand has barely any more associations with its organic past in motor sports. I mean proper racing; races. Even at historic racing level were it could fit; nothing... Other than the round smart watches which look fine, the mechanical watch designs presented are rather strange, these appear "forced"; change for the sake of change and give the feeling that the designers do not yield from watch design. I jumped my seat when I saw a square/rectangular helium escape valve as it is the ideal way to promote leaks; these usually develop at the corners... that's the reason all helium escape valves are round / cylindrical... The sales for these will be the tell tale as there is nothing better than the market to prove it. Other than the V4 from years ago which was interesting but large, what is Tag Heuer's contribution in term of horological innovations ? Now, although having a 27 years old CEO for a major brand may seem risky, I believe that it is a great thing to do. I applaud this decision ! I have worked some years with Polytechniciens, they are like all of us with a difference that they understand things blazingly fast. So let's see what happens. All the best to Frederic !

Great watches, but I if I don't own a Porsche, the watch makes no sense. Just release it without the Porsche name as the colors and design are great. Also, take the Gulf logo off the Monaco. No one cares and many would rather the logo wasn't on the face. They should have put a ceramic bezel on the Aquaracer. These mistakes are why Tag doesn't compete with Rolex and other similar price points.

sorry but this young dude is not a fit for a CEO, Tag Hauer? Sorry, not my taste, the only interesting watch is Steve Mcqueen Monaco Cal 11. the rest is not worth any attention as the brand is releasing products with a thundrbolt rate of depreciation. Exit a Tag boutique and the value goes down 50%. Only Monaco Steve McQueen and some vintage Heuers are able to keep its value well, some vintage Heuers however are also a lot overpriced when you look actually at what you are getting.

@@WatchAdvisor I think Frederic is a very interesting CEO. In my opinion he is young, very knowlegable and pasionate....not obsessive, quietly confident.....he should do well. Pocket watches are popular is some parts of OZ. I dont know if its hype or a natural interest.
