One of my most recent purchases. This piece has its fair share of love and hate but honestly, I love it.
I also touched a little of some controversial points about the brand in general and this piece in particular. Please don't dislike this video because of that.

This is the best aquaracer they've released. The newer ones have some weird colour matches of are just a touch less sharp and sporty.

I've always thought of it as a raised pinstripe dial. I've had the ceramic version for almost two years and now I'm thinking of getting this same one with the metallic blue dial.

I use to have the black dial with the H-link bracelet. My favorite diver in the world. Needed to send in for servicing and the place I bought it from scratched it up (it shcks scratching this watch up with such polished surfaces). So I returned it but now they do not make this model anymore so it is harder to find and I do not have the cash on hand to buy even if I did find this model again. I am so bummed about that.

I have had the same Aquaracer, except with a white dial, for about 1 1/2 yr. and it has performed very well. I think this model looks more refined than the newer, bulkier models. It can pass as a dress watch or a sports watch. It always seems to keep the correct time when I compare it to the clock on my computer. That's good enough for me. The bracelet does seem very well made. I have had it on several types of bands, but it is now back on the bracelet. I like it that much. Very comfortable. Great review my friend.

Don't know why people go on about the Delrin retainer ring!!. It absorbs shock. And vibration. Which is why it is used in high powered spring air rifles etc!. Far better than metal. People can be so stupid!. Any excuse to hate. Watch is fantastic. Bracelet is the only weak point. People just don't do there home work. Screw all the watch snobs. Nothing more overpriced than Rolex as good as they are!!

I have the newer version with date magnifier and yellow detailing to the handset with the bezel markers in blue - it’s a solid, quality built do it all watch Plastic retainer? If it’s good enough for G-Shock then it makes sense

Nice review. I have the Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 black 39 mm (and a small wrist like you ;) ) and I am very happy with the watch. I think the quality is good, and the design and detailing on the dial is of a very high standard. Accuracy: +4-6 seconds per day. I was also considering the Aquaracer that you review here, and I think it is a very handsome watch that is extremely versatile and definitely better looking and better suited for a smaller wrist than newer Aquaracers. The overall quality seems good, the only major thing I am unsure about is the movement grade on Aquaracers (I trust, that it must at least be elaboré), and also you should be getting a little bit better accuracy, but it might just have to settle in. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I don't think that Tag Heuer deserves the hate from certain watch enthusiasts. It's expensive and some of them are clearly overpriced, but so are other comparable higher tier swiss watch brands.

The Carrera with its 39mm is really a great size. Newer Aquaracers are powered by Sellita SW200. With the accuracy I'm getting on mine (~ +10s/d), I think the movements are just standard grade. To me that's ok. Having owned this Aquaracer, I'm really happy with its quality. Glad that we have the same opinion on this version of Aquaracer. It's really very classy. As long as you keep wearing it, you don't need to manually wind it. The watch comes with a movement with 38 hours of power reserve. On a full wound, the watch should be able to keep running for 38 hours even if it's left untouched.

I was deciding between this and the Way2012 (newer model) , in the end I went for the Way2012 because of the Yellow accents on the seconds hand and the labelling on the dial and it is larger. Kind of more 'louder' look. YES, it was a impulse buy...love the blue tone of these 2 watches. However....since I got it in Nov 2016, it had been sent back for repairs 4 times, the winding mechanism has issues. The last time I sent it for repair, seems like there is a motor inside vibrating violently, the whole watch SHAKES!....just got it back today. I guess, I will get a winder for the watch. :( I still love the look of the watch though...just disappointed with the quality control. And ya, I like this WAY2112 as well! Btw...does your bracelet gets scratched easily? Mine has scratches all over the bottom part...mostly due to long sleeve winter clothes that I wear.

Sorry to hear that you need to send it in for repairs. So far, mine is still working okay. Yes, the clasp screeches easily, especially when I'm "desk diving". The large area always gets rubbed on the desk.

Nice review! I’m new to mechanical watches and looking to get this one as my first swiss made automatic watch. Would you still recommend this today? The look of the watch definitely appeals to me. I just wish it had a clear window back to see the inside movement. Anything similar or at a better value that I should consider? Longines Conquest comes to mind but I’m not sure what else there is. I’d appreciate any input.

Well, if you like the design and it's within your budget, I'd say go for it. And if you're really new, Tissot, Hamilton, Mido, Certina are options for Swiss watches to start from. If you want to go for something in the sporty vibes like this TAG, Oris has some cool sporty watches too. Enjoy the journey into the rabbit hole 🙂

GF Watch thanks a lot for the reply. I do love the design of the Tag Heuer. It’s sporty yet also dressy which I like. A nice design balance. My favorite watches in terms of design have to be from Audemars Piguet but that’s way out of my budget for now 😄. This Aquaracer is on the higher end of my budget for now but I guess it will be worth it. Think I’ll take that leap into the rabbit hole 😄. Last question, does the stainless steel age well with scuffs and scratches? I’m otherwise considering the black phantom version which is coated but of course I find the stainless steel looks a lot more classy.

I interested on tag heuer aquaracer, steel or ceramic bezel which one you prefer? Could you do a review about ceramic version? Accuracy really is the main cons of aquaracer, next cons is bracelet, if aquaracer deploy double class pin will be much more better

Personally, I prefer the steel bezel as I think it's a little special. The ceramic bezel models are not bad too but with many other dive watches having ceramic bezel, the Aquaracers with ceramic bezel look a little too generic for my liking. I can't review the ceramic bezel version because I don't have one.

@@jeffd3802 Then regulate it yourself. Only you know exactly how you wear your watch throughout the week. It isn't that hard. Just don't open the caseback in a dusty room. I've regulated my Seiko SKX 013 and Prospex to +/- 0 seconds per week.

I got a Carrera 39 but this is nice, however I am concerned, another guy I know has the gray version and the bezel just gets scratched up

Scratches on watches are unavoidable. If you wear them, scratches will always appear no matter how careful you are. Some look at scratches as character but some look at it as eyesore. However, minor scratches can be easily removed. It's just a matter of how you look at it. Personally, some scratches are fine but I wouldn't really go to the extreme of beating up a watch unless it's a beater watch 😅

So I just bought an Aquaracer, this exact model in fact It's a very nice watch However, I find that the bezel is very tight and a little difficult to turn. It definitely doesn't turn as smoothly as the one shown in this video Was your Aquaracer's bezel also tight when you first bought it?
