The one subtlety I think you missed is that she's not talking about all guys or most guys. She's talking about if SHE were a FAMOUS man, the way she is a famous woman, all of that stuff would be expected and okay. As a famous woman, she is not allowed to sleep with a bunch of people, be "rude," spend her money the way she wants, etc. But if she were a famous man it would all be applauded (note the hands applauding the guy as he left his one night stand). "I'd be just like Leo, in St. Tropez" (Leonardo DiCaprio).

Great reaction! Best part of this song is that Taylor said The Man isnt about how she would’ve lived her life differently if she had been a man, rather it’s about how she would be viewed if she had ‘made all the same decisions and lived her life exactly the same way…but as a man’. It’s the double standards of perception. Taylor isn’t allowed the grace to brag about her money, getting models, or astrometric career success, even as she’s witnessed her male peers do those things with minimal backlash. The video is more generally about misogynistic stereotypes and the things society excuses for men but not women. Even if ppl criticize a lot of the behaviors displayed in the video, many of them are still permitted & even encouraged in certain environments.

Love your reactions! Previously saw you said you lost the footage for your reaction to No Body No Crime and didn’t want to redo it since it wouldn’t be true first reaction. One work around for that is in her acoustic surprise song section during Eras Tour she did an AMAZING mashup she title “The Murder Mashup” of Carolina x No Body No Crime and her vocals on it are INSANE! I love this song & video. It really lays bare the double standards in society, and the ones placed on her throughout her career. She dated people and had a number of relationships & heartbreaks in her teens to early 30’s - as MOST young people do. Yet she’s shamed for “going through so many men”, whereas men older than her like Drake & Leo get a free pass for getting through literally hundreds of women and not settling down. Leo in his 50’s can cavort on yachts with models, rappers can make it rain in strip clubs, but if she did that she’d be a “slut” or accused of flaunting her wealth. Her successes in the music industry are minimized or not taken seriously by so many men because they see her as just a blonde female pop star, when in fact she’s been probably the most dominant artist of the last decade and one of the most dominant of all time. She’s won more Grammy’s for album of the year than Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder etc, yet somehow isn’t regarded as seriously as them by most men (you guys excepted of course).

one of the most savage things she does in the video is take two situations where men publicly profited off of her without her consent: 1. when she pees against the wall - that wall has the names of her first 6 albums written on it, which are all of the albums that were sold to sc**ter br**n despite the fact that she wanted ownership of them. 2. on the boat and also in the bedroom (so at the beginning of the second verse and the second chorus), that will always instantly remind me of the famous music video by k*nye, where he used a doll version of her naked body, which is the grossest thing. in his video you can see her face, it looks exactly like her, and we all know how she feels about it. the fact that that video with that scene is still on the internet where everyone can see it disgusts me. everything he did and does is gross, but he should actually be in jail for using her likeness without her consent in such a way.

I didnt see Taylor as The Man, during my first view. Once I knew she was, I noticed the way she used her hands, and saw her in profile once. Otherwise it really was an awesome transformation. Kudos, to the crew who transformed her into the MAN. Men should watch this while considering how they want their sisters, wives, and daughters (present or future) to be givenopportunities and treatment as a man in the same position is given. Most women do not take success for granted, therefore they must be overachievers, facing criticism for doing just that. Just as Taylor is criticized in the music industry, and life, regardless of all her many successes.

I have really enjoyed watching you guys watch Taylor. As you know, she’s a powerhouse of a woman with amazing creative drive. Lyrics, tours, videos, interviews- she never gives less than 100%. And all the scrutiny and pressure she’s been put under as a celebrity. I’m not sure if anyone has shared her sexual assault case which is really testament to her incredible character.
