What a brilliant and unique solo adventure my friend. Bravo 👏

Incredible. I hiked the TRT clockwise starting in South Lake Tahoe July 10-20th 2022. Everything you've shown was exactly as I remembered it. I found myself thinking "oh, I remember that view." Or "I camped there on that windy ridge" and even "I remember that rock, I took my lunch break there" so many times in this video. So basically... Thanks for documenting my hike for me!

Love it! Glad you were able to reminisce :)

Similar! I was CCW in '22, ending on the 4th and it was nice of South Lake to put on a show for me. Unfortunately I went out too hard the 1st day and carried injuries the rest of the way so it was more mental challenge than physical. Ended up bailing at Echo and didn't do the final 41 miles, so here I am starting to plan to do it again CW, still from KBS, but with much more experience and hopefully some wisdom this time around!

So fun! I’m looking at this one for fall :)
@karahikes4 ай бұрын
Nice! I think this would be a great fall hike. Just a bit more dry on the east side, but water carries are normal even early in the season.

I missed where you set up camp on day 9. Somewhere before "the bench"?
@karahikes3 ай бұрын
Yes, really big flat spot before the bench. I cannot remember how far it was.

What bear can size were you using for 5 days of carry? I might try your itinerary, one resupply in Tahoe city would be very convenient!
@karahikes Жыл бұрын
BV 450. It was a game of jenga in the beginning to get everything to fit. I really like that size and it fits in my pack well.

Can you tell me where you started /ended? and best spot for resupplies? I’m fairly new but this is something my cousin and I can do. Permit? How many miles did you do? Is it on All Trails app?
@karahikes Жыл бұрын
I started and ended at the Kingsbury south trailhead. You do need a permit for the Desolation Wilderness portion of the trail. In '22 all I had to do was call the office 2 weeks prior to my start date and they issued me my permit. This may have changed. Best to check the most updated information here: tahoerimtrail.org/regulations-permits/ The trail is on AllTrails, but I also purchased and used FarOut's guide of the Tahoe Rim Trail. I highly recommend the app, particularly for when it came to water sources and availability. Planning water carries (on the east side) is very important. My daily mileage varied. Anywhere from 14 (lowest) to 23 (highest). On average, most days were 17-18 miles.

Did you accidentally put three days of videos into one? Do you have a Patreon or anything like that? You make such great stuff!
@karahikes Жыл бұрын
Yes, I compiled my 3 Tahoe videos in one. I don’t have a Paterson. Just making videos for fun. But maybe someday I will set one up!

@@karahikes Very cool attitude Kara, make it a hobby and keep it fun and the money to pay for more hikes will come in naturally with no stress! Enjoy the journey! I think that person was just saying they felt bad if you made a mistake and missed out on some money and wanted to give you some to help out haha

@@Ruddline Yes this is exactly what I meant! Thanks for helping me clarify.

Was it a well defined path the whole way? Did you ever lose the trail?
@karahikes Жыл бұрын
Super well defined and very well signed. Trail maintenance was superb.

hi Kara, enjoyed the video very much. Maybe time for a new mic, that doesn't pick up wind noise?
