The trails on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe seem much safer than the one with sharp drop-offs on the west and south side. This is a perspective of an nearly 80-year old with a bad knee and walling with a cane. We didn't have those twin walking poles that are popular now back in the 1950s and 1960s. Your walking videos are a very welcome respite from the worrying times we live in now. As I have commented before, I just wish I could smell the clear cold air and pungent wildflowers you pass nearly every minute. Savor your youth.

Oh shoot about the Spooner camping situation! Just in case anyone can use the info....Parallel to the Spooner Lake hiking trail to Marlette Lake is Hobart road, about 2.5 miles up there is a backpacking campsite with bear lockers and pit toilet. But I kinda dig the unintentional Hwy 50 camping, fierce!

Thanks for the tip! But yes, we literally slept on the side of the highway! Haha

Just an FYI for future knowledge if you ever go back to Spooner Lake, it has leaches so you really didn't want to swim in that lake anyways.

Glad you survived the mini-bear (chipmunk) attack. Those little dudes can indeed get up into your pack. If they are thirsty, they will chew through hoses, plastic bottles, etc. The food was probably safe in the mini-bear canister. . .probably. The gist I am getting about the TRT is that (1) water carries require some definite planning, and (2) trailhead areas seem gobsmacked with people, traffic, etc. But the scenery, as you said, seems top-notch.
@bichonmomr4 жыл бұрын
I have a question. 4:54 you mention the view. Looking at the map, are you on the TRT? can you see it from the spooner lake trail by the highway? Just compiling tips. Planning a trip out there soon God-willing.
@JenniferMabus4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was on the TRT at that time!

Amazing to follow your hike once again😀. It makes the lockdown bearable; living out my trail dreams through your videos🙂. Re-watched your entire PCT trail videos not long ago... they are still the best told vlogs of the PCT. Can't wait for the next chapter of the TRT story... with hopes of follow you or many more trails in the future.

He he your dad seemed impressed with your trek around the lake Jen, but I guess if you can gauge the distance at eye level it puts it into perspective. Amazing view from the top looking out onto the lake.

Always apricate my parents, as children when we came home dirty we were hosed down or made to bathe depending on the grime and the air temps. We were never told off for getting dirty, it was part of childhood. Embrace the stink and have fun.
