@@tipsovr2626 Bad idea for your health and your ability to control/constrain an aggressor. It is nothing to be proud of when you lose control of or are outrun. If you cannot run a mile in 15 minutes and climb through a window, you should not have a job. My life expectancy as a correctional officer was 57. Many died soon after retirement. It is my 14th year of retirement. I plan on being retired longer than my career be staying healthy.

I find that AIWB is really uncomfortable. I should be noted that IWB anywhere is usually uncomfortable but AIWB seems to be the worst. To quote Paul "This comes with a long list of caveats and yeah buts", however the longer the gun the harder it is to carry that way. I carry a G17 (it is the smallest gun my big man hands can grip properly, and yes i have all the grip extenders on there making my FNX45 look thin by comparison). I was lucky enough to be able to try one of the Tier 1 Agis Elite for the G17 and no matter where i put it the thing either jabbed me in the leg or in the tackle; not to mention that humans are designed to bend at the waist putting any length of steel bar right where your body is supposed to bend makes for a horrible experience. Anyway i heard that commenting on videos somehow helps the show up in more places. I know that everything i wrote is pretty much worthless to anyone but me but at least it is on topic. Thanks OG for good quality information!

It’s very easy in Kern. Unfortunately I’m not on Kern’s list of instructors. Just never had many inquiries from down there so I just operate in the three counties north of you. However, there are quite a few good instructors down there and the process is rather easy. Definitely start the application today and worry about the class anytime during the process. I know this is coming very late, but here's the flaw of appendix carry: it doesn't work very well when drawing one-handed. The shirt tends to snag on your butt when pulling it up, and also fall over the back of your hand while drawing. Now imagine trying to do that under stress when an enemy is danger close. Meanwhile, at 3:00 it comes up cleanly, is pinned to the side by your wrist, and it allows you to blade off and guard with your other arm. It's a much more reliable way to draw when you're already in close quarters and allows you to delay your opponent from getting to your torso and getting a grapple. It also places your gun arm effectively out of reach. Appendix carry is, in my opinion, unsound from a biomechanical standpoint. I don't like the idea of having to rely on having both hands available to get a reliable draw under stress, and you shouldn't, either. If you're using one arm to guard, you can draw and shoot under your guard and they can't really do anything about it.

@@eaglepasss3580 For me? Yes. If done correctly all carry positions can be comfortable. Drawing from a seated position appendix is much easier than strong side especially when buckled in a car. Veteran & former LEO, I'm at the age where my shoulders have become hurtful from abuse & age. I have a lengthy morning routine of stretches & exercises I do primarily when I get up but also throughout the day to alleviate much of the discomfort & maintain range of motion for my daily activities. It's like the carbureted cars that one had to warm up on a cold morning, a little rough at the start but fine after running fur a few minutes with the choke on. I'm in a concealed carry state so I primarily carry appendix. As OG says, it can be a very safe way to carry provided I follow a few simple rules. My EDC is my G2C 9MM with a manual safety; when holstered, there's one in the pipe & safety off. I used to carry IWB @4 o'clock position but sometimes drawing my weapon hurts my shoulders. Love the vids & keep up the good work!

I carry appendix and have for many years so clearing my “garment” aka tshirt is like 2nd nature, I start with my draw hand down by my pocket I swipe upwards with my thumb until I feel my hand under my shirt then I sweep across my belly to my appendix where my gun is I grab my gun then present the weapon. I only say this because I see people saying it requires 2 hands to draw while carrying appendix which just isn’t the case, some people will teach you to use your off hand to clear your garment while you draw just because it’s a good habit but it’s nowhere near a requirement you can easily draw 1 handed as long as you’re practicing.

I carry in the small of my back, using a left handed appendix cross draw holster, which presents quite well to my right hand that way. It actually gives me some nice back support when seated, and doesn't print at all, since my untucked shirt hangs from my shoulders, and completely clears my 1911. The extra mag is in my pocket.

The biggest problem I see with SOB carry is if you are in a fight and it goes to the ground with you on your back and your arm is behind you, you are screwed. Also if you are on the ground and ground fighting is not in your skill set, you may not be able to reach the weapon when needed, particularly if your adversary knows you are armed and is fighting for your weapon as well…

I'm not OG by any stretch of the imagination, but I happen to own a hidden hybrid. It is quite comfortable, and in my opinion the leather is thick and stiff enough to avoid the sort of deformation that could catch on the trigger. Plus, they support many different lights and lasers on just as many guns.

Nice video and great tips. I particularly like the suggestion to be cognizant of the muzzle while reholstering. A holster is a safety device - shrouded trigger, shrouded safety if the gun has one, and built of material that does not collapse. Another advantage to AIWB is that the approach to your firearm is within your field of view. For those who prefer scary old cocked and locked 1911's, if you need to reholster you can move your thumb underneath the safety and monitor it to make sure it stays engaged. A Schwatz firing pin block is another good idea for 1911's. Reholster with pressure on the beavertail, not the grip safety, to leave the firing pin block (hopefully) engaged. Subscribed!

But you know better.

Sorry, seemed to have upset you. I've only been carrying for about 5 years, so I'm sure you have a lot more experience and knowledge than me, hence why I clicked on your video. I mean no disrespect, but your mistake shouldn't be swept under the rug, especially as a "rangemaster" and someone giving advice to gun owners and people that are looking at carrying appendix (which I do). It's not that it happens all the time with documented frequency, but imo you should train to look the gun into the holster to prevent this exact thing from happening. You clearly had a garment stuck in your holster there... what's preventing that from catching on the trigger and firing the weapon? It's a common training aspect for any carry location, not just appendix.

Good video. Nice to hear a member of law enforcement explain the advantages of appendix carry. I agree totally about the benefits of appendix carry. It may not be for everyone, but it works for me, and I rarely carry in any other position. Actually it's a no-brainer for me. It's the most comfortable; the quickest, easiest access; and it is the most defendable position on my body should someone try to take the gun. But to your point, nothing is 100% "safe." Obviously, there will always be some degree of inherent "risk" when dealing with firearms. However, I'm a firm believer that there are no "accidental" discharges....just negligent discharges. That being said, anyone who feels it's not "safe" to carry appendix should probably not be handling firearms anyway. If you're stupid enough to have a negligent discharge, you have no business carrying or handling firearms.

I've been on the fence about AIWB carry. As I also have some "tacticle girth", it seems to be the best for all types of situations whether sitting or standing or driving. I've tried 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock, but the pistol is harder to conciel and drive with, let alone present in a conflict if needed. Apendex carry feels more comfortable for me. Thanks OG for all the valuable information and for your service

This is why they make revolvers with 12-inch barrels. Around these here parts, we call them "bypass barrels". Personally, I'd really need a 14-incher to be completely safe... unless it's REALLY COLD. Then a snub-nose would probably do : )

Not even arguing with carry or don't carry appendix. But to make the leap that side carry point of aim drawing and holstering is in any way remotely close to shooting your body is at best, hysterical. This is just simple geometry. At worst, in a bow legged knock kneed stance, you might graze a thigh in side holster. In appendix, you risk hitting your pelvic area, knees, hamstrings, ovaries/units and femoral artery. No comparison.

@@OGsDangerShow I forgot to mention the belly factor for many carriers, disrupting view and holster angle. Again, I'm an appendix carrier, I just don't agree with shoe horning in an argument that there's just as much danger and body involved in a side carry. All your points are spot on but one common mistake I see people make over and over again in these appendix videos is buying a bright colored appendix holster like red, yellow, fluorescent green etc. I know your shirt will be covering your holster but from time to time you’ll be reaching up to close your SUV’s rear hatch or grab something off a high shelf in a public store and at times show a glimpse of your appendix area partially revealing part of your holster or gun. If you buy a brightly colored holster, your only drawing attention to an area your trying to conceal. In my personal opinion I only buy black holsters which do a much better job concealing what you don’t want to gain attention to.

October thru April you need not bother carrying like that. No offense either. You may be smarter than your average bear, but...!!!! Appendix carry is for warmer weather. Not year-round carry. Everyone will be wearing layers or windbreakers or flannel shirts etc.etc soon. You can wear it anyway you want. It'll never be seen. I wear a full-size revolver 44 mag loaded with specials and even as a professional you'll be dang lucky to notice me. A lot of times carrying concealed isn't a big deal to me. Sometimes you want the evil looking man to know, you are carrying. A lot of the drama will go away. Besides concealed carry doesn't mean, absolutely total concealment at all. It just means you can hide a gun from everyone and do it legally. A lot of people are getting hung up on 100% total concealment no matter the cost or comfort. I wear a suit coat and a hoody, and other coats who have large inside pockets. Cheap concealed. Lol. And why do you ""Cater to Anifa people by doing weapons checks and weapon clears, and saftey checks????? What are the Democrats doing for you ??? Besides trying to take away all our rights??? Please stop doing that. People watching your videos could care less if you shot the camera. They could care less if you aimed a gun at it. Left wing people like Adam Shiff or"" pencil neck"" or Shifty Shiff as Trump called him he cares. He wants you to do more checks on your channel or else. Most gun enthusiasts know about safety and the do's and don'ts's but if you want to keep on bending over for them. By all means continue...!!! Peace.

I run half marathons carrying AIWB. I don't print very much. And thanks to Sticky Holsters it is comfortable. Even with my tactical girth. I train on some of the most dangerous streets of America. And I love the comfort of my CCW. STICKY recommends removing the holster to replace pistol. And because it isn't locked to my belt or clothing it is very easy. Plus my Walther has a rear protruding striker indicator. Makes ultra light holster carry much safer.

There's no femoral artery on the outside of the thigh. There is actually no large vasculature (neither artery nor vein) that runs on the outside of the thigh and the leg. Specifically, the femoral artery and its branches runs medially on the inside of the thigh and leg. So conversely, having the gun in AIWB will always have the risk of putting the femoral artery in the trajectory of the bullet in the case of an accidental discharge. There should be no argument that carrying at 4-5 o clock IWB or OWB much safer than AIWB in the case of accidental discharges because unless you carry in such a way that makes the muzzle of the gun cant inward to your legs (you wouldn't), there is virtually no chance of accidentally shooting yourself in the lower extremity arterial blood supply. This is an objective fact that you can easily prove with anatomical diagrams of blood supply in humans. Just want to make sure everyone understands that it's not just "some skin" you'd be burning off if you AD/ND in AIWB. You'd likely need a tourniquet to stop from bleeding to death within minutes. That's a risk people need to weigh. For anyone too lazy to google a picture of lower extremity blood supply, here's a link: www.ersebeszet.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/erek_rajz.png
