I really appreciate you making these videos. I cannot express enough the benefits I have been receiving from Tai Chi and Kung Fu with you. I am part of a strict Christian denomination, and thoroughly appreciate the self-control, and self-discipline that you learn through the martial arts. And frankly, there is nothing better than Tai Chi for those purposes.

to each and everyone of you haters.. Theres a lot of different styles of Martial arts in the world, almost as diverse as the cultures n ppl. So if some with the same title doesnt match with what youve learnt, doesnt make it wrong. As long as the "same" martial arts does improve ones overall health when excecuted. For god sake, look at the one that has been praticing it since 19. Hes all fit,healthy,strong n energetic than most of the population. Heck hes even a full time vegan. So respect others interpretion of something you know, you can give advice but never discredit one for working hard as that would definitely makes u a scornful person. Learn from the difference and improve ones own is how real martial artist become better den the past. Keep up the good work Mace, i pratice Lee Style TaiChiQiGong from Malaysia. Its quite different in form compared to other known style but it really helped lots of people recovering from their health problems.
@tarinawt8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Jake is a great example in body, spirit, mind, and soul. That is the ultimate goal of any martial arts!
@quinsalee8 жыл бұрын
+tarinawt I disagree. As an artist of a martial diciplin, you should be perfecting the martial art. This is a fitness routien, it has moves from a form, but it is full of handwaving.
@tarinawt8 жыл бұрын
quinsalee We all have our own truth or opinion of everything we see in this life. Neither is right nor wrong. Did you know that their are something like 5 different areas that martial artists fit into? Is he not perfecting at least one of those areas if not more? And isn't the point of being an artist ... the art that he creates. No artist is ever going to be alike. If you prefer apples then why are you critiquing the oranges?
@tarinawt8 жыл бұрын
***** I agree with mechanics, but you missed my point. Martial 1. of or suitable for war: martial songs 2. showing a readiness or eagerness to fight; warlike 3. of the army, the navy, or military life; military Remember there are 5 categories that martial artists fall into and thus primarily focus their training towards. These areas are 1.Health 2.Sport(Tournament) 3.Self-Defense(Reality Training) 4.Art(Dance) 5.Combat(War) Now which of these areas is Jake perfecting and practicing for? What are the goals of his teachings and "can you" not learn something of use from him? And is his approach really wrong? Have you sparred with him to compare your timing and training to say it doesn't work? Have you also considered that the the fate/luck of ones moves can negate all the training in the world? As a martial arts instructor myself of 22 years I ask you to stop for a moment and listen to my wisdom here and consider things. The world would have you believe a certain way about how things should be. You have been preprogrammed to jump in a certain direction. This is by design to create a divide or separation, competition, fear, anger, etc. among your fellow human beings. Can you allow love into your heart to see the good here that Jake is doing? Try focusing on that and improving your own training. I am sure that Jake's videos can motivate you to do so if you look at them in the correct lighting. Namaste
@quinsalee8 жыл бұрын
Ok then. I disagree with your whole philosophy. I am personally against someone selling something under false pretenses. This adds nothing to the art and only further dilutes it with things that do not work. I am saddened that one day one of his students may need to call upon their training to defend themselves and they will find out that they were cheated. I know these do not work because I have had to retrain many students who come in after learning from people like this. You can dress it up all you want, but this is a fitness routine not tai chi, and it might get them hurt or killed. So no, I don't see the good he is doing any more than i see a snake oil salesman doing good.

Jake, thank you for your wonderful teachings. Forget the trolls. It simply means you are doing the right thing - and whenever you put yourself out there you will get them, so feel happy about them. I learn from you every day, you even though I have been a student of traditional karate for more than 2 decades - a different origin but with many parallels to your philosophies. I learned from students of Egami, the official successor to Funakoshi, the founder of karate. Funakoshi taught that his students must always take his ideas and develop them onwards for their own development. He said never stagnate otherwise this would lead to the death of the art.

Doesn't matter who you learn Tai Chi from, the master/teacher has to be qualified to teach in the first place. The video basically demonstrated Jake hasn't practice Tai Chi and no where close to being a qualify master/teacher. I don't want to call it fake, but this is not Yang, Chen, Wu or Sun Tai Chi. Jake can call it the Mace style Tai Chi all he want.

Different styles have different movements. I have seen grandmasters of ancient china use powerful hopping and forceful movements of tai chi for use in self-defense and combat.
@nara97938 жыл бұрын
The style where you do swift movements and jumsp and such things is called "Chen" and neither of these movements that Mr.Mace is trying to teach( even though he could use some teaching too) are from that style. I clearly understand that his flaws in tai-chi are just from improper understanding of the technique. Honestly I don't even get how he got to tai-chi teaching ....in our tai-chi school he would be on the begginer level even though his body is strong and flexible. He's just doing the moves missing out the whole point of tai-chi. No hate. I'm just saying there's room for improvement.

@JBattler7 жыл бұрын
Perhaps if you read a lot and watch a lot of different videos and eventually decide on a way that works that is in fact real tai chi. there are a lot of people with different takes on what tai chi is. Best to find a teacher that you can ask questions of. Find someone who is humble and quiet and nice but has power (chi) not just has moves, is fit, looks good on video etc. You might try Ian Sinclair, or Adam Mizner (also on youtube) for a start....but don't stop there. Jake Mace is the opposite of this. Good luck.

That hop is super silly. It's what happens when a group is doing a Tai Chi form, the new guy in the back falls behind on a leg movement they missed, and he just does a hop to catch up. I'm sorry, the hop is just super clumsy looking, and definitely not a Tai Chi move as it is.

a little too fast and you should really go over the sequences a few times before you start .. i got a good workout howver and i appreciate it but youre going too fast for beginners .. you should really slow it down talk a little more about form at least tell people that their knee should never be ahead of their foot also you should show the moves more mechanically before you expect us to keep up with you and "flow". i was only able to match your speed because i already know a bit about the form and im familiar with some of these movements or at least something similar ...ive never heard of revving up before tai chi you should have really shown us some stretches and some tapping or at least something to prepare us definately not a run :/.. i hate to say it but this is a terrible video for beginners jake... i wana like this video and i appreciate the knwolage but if i was to review this video id give you a 2 /10 as an instructor. just being honest no hard feelings

+Collin Boots Dude don't run before doing Tai Chi, what is the matter with you. You should be doing Qi Gong prior to Tai Chi because the point is to balance the energy through breathing. I mean deep Dan Tien breathing with focus.
