gear ratio is dependent on engine size/rider weight and variator size. Im running a 188cc stroker, 15/36 gears and stock variator size/16 gram weights. Turns just under 8000rpm at 68 mph. Cruise at 62 is around 6500. Just by changing the variator size to a larger one (ncy) rides the belt higher on the drive pulley- same gearing 70mph is around 6300. Even the brand of belt and mileage on the belt will change the ratios as when they wear the get thinner. Its all trial and error. Biggest challenge with a 232 is keeping the belt from slipping on takeoff- install a stronger driven pulley spring and it increases belt tension but also heats it up more, takes more power and shortens the belt life but killer off the line. CVT has to be the most sensitive tuning part and like others say, each bike/rider/engine is different.

Do you happen to know if the owner made a video of the finished project? And is the coolant pump electric or driven by a belt?
@chenner123454 жыл бұрын
I dropped the project for a few years. It’s almost finished now. Water pump is electric.

the final drive gearsdepend on the weight of the rider and what speeds he/she would like to reach. ive talked to guys that weight 300+lbs that have used the 16/36 gears on a 149cc gy6 and have reached speeds of 60mph. ive installed a set of 16/38 gears and weigh about 240 lbs, I hope to reach 60-65mph on my 149cc. By the way, i enjoy watching your videos, ive learned a lot. thanks.

Yep you're using the strap wrench backwards if you look at them little teeth in it those are meant to push down on the strap and that's what holds it in place and makes it get tighter as you put tension on your unit you are tightening. All good though. Great job on the motor!!

you did not put on the gear before the variator and cvt
@dmartin9255 жыл бұрын
You don't have to pour the gear on, the crankshaft is notched... in addition, st the time of the build, i didn't know that a kick start will not work on an engine like this, the compression is too high...

Hey Daniel. Hope you and yours are safe. Do you still offer these engine builds? If so, how much to duplicate this engine? $4,000?

how much power can one expect from a 232? Approx.
@noneshere4 жыл бұрын
You got to use a GY6 dune buggy "P" engine. It looks the same but its different then the scooter engine. Youll find the "P" listed on the case number (P157QMJ) A scooter case can only bore to 64mm. A buggy case can be bored to 70mm. The case has to be bored to fit the bigger cylinder neck. Problem is, the 232 has super thin cylinder walls. It dont tolerate much overheating.

Dan did you have to use a 98 link cam timing chain ? I had to building my 206cc taida 4 valve engine with the 8.2 Stroker

@blak3196 жыл бұрын
Daniel Martin I dont understand I have this exact same setup for my 2015 Roma 150 except 63mn for 157qmj with 6mm aluminum spacer 96 would not allow 4valve cam to seat had to order 98 link chain and guides for honda cf250 engine
@blak3196 жыл бұрын
My 63mm cylinder is also the taida water cooled im hoping it will be as wicked as you said!!!
@dmartin9256 жыл бұрын
With the 4 valve head, Taida sells extended chain guides, but that doesn't explain why you couldn't seat your cam... You might want to double check your spacer height..... Typical is 8.2 stroke w/ 4 valve head requires 96 link chain....

Daniel Martin does it matter where I put the two extended dowel pins in aluminum cylinder spacer?

I’m really interested in buying a moped scooters 200cc. I have a basic driver license is that good enough for these or do you need a special license? I’m looking for a stretch lowered bike with the fat rear wheel. What do these bikes cost? I live in south Florida never see these bikes around no one to ask that I can find. Do you build different model bikes?
@dmartin9255 жыл бұрын
In most states, 200cc requires a motorcycle endorsement for your license.... check with your local DMV. No, i no longer build custom scooters for the general public. A good starting point for what youre looking for would be the "ruck shop" and ruckus forums... many who want the kind of scooter youre looking for either modify a honda ruckus or something like a chinese ice bear ruck clone.

don't you have to grease them gears?
@dmartin9258 жыл бұрын
No. The transmission case is filled with gear oil.... The gear oil acts as the grease (lubricant) for the gears and bearings.

@ManuelGutierrez-be1ci4 жыл бұрын
I know that if I am going to do a swap I’m just going to put a motor with a manual clutch on it because once you change it from a 49cc and go up you need a motorcycle license to continue to ride it. Why not just go ahead and do that.
@noneshere4 жыл бұрын
....normally only the state will bust you for riding a 50cc+ without an endorsement. The city an county police dont usually go after that. In our state, you can get a sticker and tag without showing an endorsement...but you better be ready to go all the way to trial to rub it in their face like I had to. I rode 30 years without an endorsement before I had to beat a state trooper in a judge trial. Even then I had to threaten to release the papers online if they did find me guilty. Amazing how truthful you can make a US judge act by threatening to release their bad rulings online.

@ManuelGutierrez-be1ci4 жыл бұрын
Why not just put a big motor in the ruckus from a motorcycle or something with gears. Once you change the motor just go all out and put a motorcycle or pit bike motor in it.
@ManuelGutierrez-be1ci4 жыл бұрын
Everyone is going from the 49cc to the 150cc then to this 232cc motor. Why not just put a pit bike motor on it or something with a clutch it just seems like you’re all just doing the same thing just with an automatic motor
