All the glass roofs should have the opaque feature, particularly if there's no sun shade like in Tesla's.

Exactly. I have a little girl that going to sit in a car seat. It would be nice to have shade over the car seat. I know the class has some UV protective film but you can still feel the light on you.

Totally wish Tesla would do something like this - have an actually upscale interior Option. It's not a crime to make a NICE interior with a more interesting design and why no HUD?? Model 3 & Y should have shipped with one or at minimum offered an option. So glad that Rivian exists to show people what's possible with an EV. Good stuff!!

I would have like the launch with native NACS and a change in the port location.... Back left or front right need to be standard...
@nist73 ай бұрын
yeah, word on the street is that native NACS won't be coming until calendar year 2025 at the earliest (and even then we don't know if it will be Q1 2025 or Q4 2025,,,) I've been telling my friends that if they are interesting in buying a non-Tesla EV at this time to HOLD OFF...and wait until late 2025 or 2026 when non-Tesla EVs will finally ship with native NACS. This is probably the worst time frame to buy non-Tesla EVs with the outgoing/soon to be obsolete tech that will be very soon replaced with NACS.
@Guerreropowerr3 ай бұрын
from some images we saw, it seems lik the CCS port might be swappable. basically, there was a cutout around it so there's speculation that when rivian does switch to NACS, it'll be easy to install NACS on new vehicles

@@nist7 exactly, My wife ONLY wants an R1S if it has NACS native. My sister, same thing. They are doing what @TailosiveEV said, waiting to get the feature before buying. We have Teslas now, and my wife will not go to any charger that is CCS or CHademo since they are such a pain in the ass and too bulky for her (she is very small). Stupid to still include the charge port...

@@Guerreropowerr Huh, interesting. Didn't think of that but that would make lot of sense. There would be a LOT of people driving non-Tesla EVs who will want to do a NACS port swap to get rid of the outgoing CCS ports.

Someday you're going to have to get over the fact that there are people that really want a ridiculously fast/quick vehicle. The same as there are people that want a ridiculously efficient vehicle.
@TailosiveEV3 ай бұрын
I’m not denying that fact. I’m saying the people who want a ridiculously efficient vehicle drastically outnumber the people who need to go that fast
@rich86693 ай бұрын
@@TailosiveEV efficiency is not sexy for a halo vehicle with a brand identity based on SUV's, trucks and off road adventures. That is Apteras persona.
@darwinskeeper4213 ай бұрын
@@TailosiveEV I'd argue the opposite. There's something viscerally appealing about a ridiculously fast/quick vehicle that makes it easy to want one. That's one of the main reasons why there is a booming automotive aftermarket, as well as a market for Dodge Hellcats & Tesla Plaids. There is some appeal to wildly efficient vehicles but its more cerebral, not very emotional and likely to get the person who says it appeals labeled an egghead. (I'm totally guilty on this front). I suspect that those of us who geek out on efficiency are in the minority. In our defense, outrageous efficiency has more practical use than ludicrous speed, but it doesn't mean that we're the majority.

I didn't think the max pack was worth it before the refresh, but if the new large pack is actually a lot smaller capacity then i guess I'd go for the dual motor max pack to get the towing range. The pre-price hike pricing helps!

Interior door unlock/lock via button is a good thing. gen1 door handle too small with sharp edges which doesn't belong in an outdoor rugged vehicle category. The second big person challenge is the rear hatch. That didn't go away unfortunately. The back hatch height when raised is squarely directed to your eyeball level at each corner for an easy puncture. It should go past parallel when in the full up position. RJ should have told those designers in California that people over 6 feet do exist.

Rivian is supplying NACS to CCS1 adapters for free (at least for us gen 1 owners) and their charging stations are all CCS1 that are very busy (at least here in NorCal) so my guess is that they thought in the mean time, an adapter is easier to hand out than retooling the adventure network stations to make them compatible with new models.

As much as you may not see value or need for the quad motor performance Rivian, it likely gives them a nice profit bump and is great for marketing. More media outlets will talk about the refreshed lineup thanks to a crazy fast option being on the menu. Would love to see Tesla take their truck platform and reskin it with some sort of easy to swap out body panels system, super functional design, and more affordable package. As cool of a design the Cybertruck might be, many work related issues are caused by the styling and it seems to be keeping the Cybertruck from truly being a work truck for the masses. No doubt some owners have pushed to show their Cybertruck doing work truck tasks, but I would love to see the Tesla engineering team come up with an innovative work truck. They could use 80% of the Cybertruck parts to help make development faster and cheaper. I do think if they made fenders and outer door panels easy for owners to swap out, that would generate a ton of interest. No idea what materials to use, but Musk has spoken of the F1 engineers and SpaceX engineers they have used in the past. Time for Tesla to show they can make the best work truck in addition to most exotic mass produced truck. Rivian is clearly making good progress. Seeing the Rivian delivery vans in my neighborhood, the future designs, and this refresh, gives me hope they will still be around after 2030.
@justinstewart32483 ай бұрын
I think Rivian did great by listening to most of us here. They needed to remove all these features that most people didn't use. I suspect there will eventually be a model that you can't even option those things anymore either because most people just want an affordable truck to do basic truck things and get from point A to Point B. removing that ridiculous camp speaker was a win for all. They should also remove the flashlight that literally no one uses either and save another 20 bucks per vehicle. There's still fat to trim on these for sure.

I can’t wait for battery technology and electric infrastructure to get so good it will be possible to get 1000+ miles of range per charge or if you don’t drive much you will be able to get a 300ish mile range per charge and that be a small battery allowing space for more storage or whatever you need. Before anyone says anything about there not being a reason to have more than 400 miles of range per charge, I know most people probably drive less than 100 miles a day but that doesn’t make it less necessary. And people say the current mileage of electric vehicles is more than good enough as not many people will use more than full charge in a day. And they charge it every night anyway, However in my opinion that’s even more of a reason to ave obserd capacity by. Just because you don’t use it all doesn’t mean more isn’t needed. I get why it’s like it is however for the same reason people like their phones or smart watches to last days is why I want to have 1000+ miles per charge not because it’s absolutely necessary but because it’s more convenient as I don’t understand why people are ok with being forced to charge their car every day. And I can’t speak for others but I know personally if I had 1000+ miles of range on an electric vehicle I probably would have to recharge once every other week if not less. And it’s the same with the iPhone it couldn’t probably have more than 24house of continuous battery of not more however not enough people complain about the battery so Apple has no reason to increase the battery capacity

Rivian de-contented the 2025 R1T base model. Optional Bluetooth speaker, optional air compressor, etc. They didn’t simplify the lineup as expected. Too many trim levels, interiors, wheel choices. They should follow Tesla’s lead with the Cybertruck which has virtually no options except two trim panel color and two wheel and tire choices.
