I got to test the Aim ECU from Taipan for the Honda CRF 450 RL. ‪@TACOMOTOCO‬ let me borrow a unit to run on the Honda crf 450. This video is my first ride and first impressions of the AIM ecus that comes with TacoMoto maps for the Honda. I give my opinion on the purple ecu everyone is talking about.

Wow , awesome place to ride. I have a brand new 500 exc-f and just did a power bundle from Best Dual sports. Has tuner and alot of good billet parts in the kit for less than an ecu. Bike rips now.

I love my AIM but had problem in beginning with it. They had to redo the maps to fix throttle body issue it was having with my model 450rl. But runs perfect now and plenty of power.

Great information Rodney! Do you ride the bike that far out to get to that single track area or do you truck the bike out? Bike runs great with that new fuel pump and ecu! Thanks

That bike tractored single track with no problem with that new ecu. Good to see. I was hesitant to purchase a L living in Az and all of our single track. After seeing this, it looks very capable. I already have a ktm 300 xc for the nearly stuff. Thanks for the video. Btw, is that the road that heads up to Mt Charleston?

It's not the greatest dual-sport for singletrack but it's better with the ECUs. Yes, Kyle Canyon going to Mount Charleston.

@MobCityMoto Kyle Canyon, that's the name of it. I used to live at the homes off of Mountain Shadow back in 2003. West of the 215. I would ride from my home up there on my WR250F. Man, I used to race moto on a CRF450, and I just love the look of your bike.

i have the aim taipan ecu for a 501 and on a cold start it takes three cranks to start the bike

The rpm’s need to be set correctly and on the Ktm its like 1900-2100 rpm’s. My get ecu would do that on the 350 I had.

@@astralis2194 Theres a knob on the bike by the fuel injection and you turn it to increase or decrease the idle. You need something to read the rpms though since the honda doesn't have one.

Did you do any throttle calibration before you started riding with the ECU?

I had to when i did the GET ECU the first time but when I hooked up the AIM it was fine from the last calibration I believe. Tacomoto said I will know if it needs calibration for any of the other ecus. I think it needs to be calibrated once and then its good, and doesn't need re-calibrated after each ecu change.

Which ecu has the best mountng setup ???? I don't really wanna do a scab install on a brand new bike.... ???

They're all about the same and very similar to the stock ecu.

I bought the GET and I like it better, it has more features than any of the other ecus.

What top speed u hit with the aim ecu?

The manual says 105 mph top speed but i did 95 with the aim and about the same on the GET.

On the bottom and middle its close to the same but less on the top end.
