We did this trip in 2007 for our honeymoon. This is a good representation of the island. We did 7 nights in sri lanka at the beach hotel Negombo and this included 3 nights at the Deer Park hotel in Pulonawara to do our safari. We then did 14 nights at the Taj coral reef and we loved every minute of it. The only thing i'd say is pay the extra $150 a night for all inclusive. Like you said your water was $7 and Pizza for lunch was circa $50, so you're almost half way there. Factor in a tea or coffee or one cocktail and you're there. When travelling somewhere like this you want to just be able to do what you want when you want and once you're there the last thing you should be worrying about is a budget. Great video showing all the good stuff about this small island, you can literally walk around it in ten minutes.

Was the beach villa you booked a deluxe one? Do you know which villa numbers have the most beach?
@Birdylockso4 жыл бұрын
Just checked the price for the same water villa, with breakfast only, is about US$ 882 + $401, or close to $1,300 per night in mid-March, 2021. Not sure what happened between the $1,800 for 4 nights in 2018 and 2021 price... something doesn't add up...

We booked it on Secret Escape which often does upto 50% off of hotels. We use them and Voyage Prive which does similar package for Maldives at good (for Maldives) prices.

hi sweetie great review do you have to have a life jacket on when snorkeling if you have your own snorkeling stuff as that would stop you diving under and exploring
@SuitcaseMonkey5 жыл бұрын
Hi. When I was there I believe it was optional. However I know The Maldives have had some issues recently with swimmers so not sure if they have changed the policy but should still be ok if you’re a good swimmer.

Thanks for the video ! :) I'm was just wondering if prices stated at the secretescapes website are final or if there are some taxes to be paid (:
@SuitcaseMonkey6 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome!!! Hmm, I think the only thing it missed was a £15 booking fee. But generally what you see is what they are. If flights are included in the package (which they weren’t for this) then it would depend if you want to change airports/times etc but generally no.
@143ambition6 жыл бұрын
Hi man...! Really liked it . I am also planning for the same using secretescapes. Is return speed boat transfer include to and fro from male airport to resort or just one way ? And other question was how much time does it take for transfer.
@SuitcaseMonkey6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yeah, I saw they were selling it again. For us, it was a return transfer and lasted about 45 minutes. Anything else let me know.
@143ambition6 жыл бұрын
My bad return boat transfer means both side just googled :)
@SuitcaseMonkey6 жыл бұрын
It may be different now, but it was included in our package. I’m sure it will be mentioned in the description on Secret Escape.

The life jackets are expensive and the snorkel gear is not. The property wants you to take care of the life jacket so they have you rent it to take ownership. It’s fairly straight forward.
@SuitcaseMonkey4 жыл бұрын
From an optics point of view, it isn’t very good to have a high price for safety so come may skip it as opposed to safety being free or cheap and paying for snorkel gear which is the entertainment side of things. That makes more sense to me.

Hi, loved the video, we are visiting taj coral reef next month. Could you throw light on the alcohol policy and what would be the best package for 3 days for a couple? Is it better to take the package or pay per glass? Thanks in advance :)
@SuitcaseMonkey6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! If you are big drinkers and want the luxury of not having to think about money, going all inclusive is a good option. Email the hotel direct and ask them what their prices would be for each upgrade. You could mix the days you do it for. But for us, since we don’t drink too much, breakfast and dinner was perfect.

@SuitcaseMonkey5 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I think it happens in most places in The Maldives FYI so maybe check that before you travel to one of the resorts.
@marjaneaalam13532 жыл бұрын
It’s sad you didn’t mention that the corals were practically dead at the resort that has the name Coral Reef. That is partially due to unsustainable tourism (trash, overfishing and development). You were part of that destructive tourism.
@SuitcaseMonkey2 жыл бұрын
HELLO! It’s a shame you see it that way. But in that logic, you are also to blame for increasing the click through rate of this video, and therefore making the video spread to more people, which provides revenue to the channel which encourages me to visit the Maldives again, and swim in the water, without touching any coral.
