Any idea if any of those postponed songs TAK mentioned about got out eventually since March? And dude wow I super really enjoy these interviews even as a non-professional. I can appreciate more the work is put into them, learning some things too. You guys make music, no matter the genre, appreciated and fun. Umu hope this channel gets even bigger and I'm rooting for your success. Your fellow Shawol 💎✨

Superhuman is a underrated masterpiece and the fact that they spent so much time on it give me heartache. The song deserves the world...

If I'm not wrong, at that time K-Fan boycott NCT 127 because they think they only focused doing promotion in US than in korea especially in the music show. Whether the song good or not, can't deny it, it depends on the fans especially korean fans.

I'm so happy that you talked about Superhuman! That song is criminaly underrated and the fact they spent so much time with it makes me want to cry. I was really hoping it would become NCT's breakout song. But alas other things were meant to happen. 😭
@МарияПетрова-ъ6н4 жыл бұрын
Superhuman WAS actually a breaking song for NCT, views on KZbin is not everything. It sold super good in the US digitally, you should check how many their own records they broke with it.

I completely agree. It’s my favourite NCT title track. I could write an essay about how amazing the song is. Technically, it’s flawless in its production. The MV is just, wow. The harmonies and the boys voices have never sounded better in my opinion. I get so sad at how underrated it is, even among NCTzens. No one talks about it 😤
@haechanverse4 жыл бұрын
It's honestly one of my favourite NCT title tracks! You can't not be blown away when you listen to it full volume. It's like venturing to a different world. I love that the choreography is awesome too. Very different from NCT's usual sound, but very much an SM sound.
@madeleinearcher9994 жыл бұрын
haechanverse yeah it’s not very standard NCT. But yes very SM. And somehow they managed to make it NCT like? And the build up to that epic ending tho... I can’t not get hyped up and blown away every time. And the choreo just hits so different. I’m so glad someone else appreciates it like me 🥺

1 Take: Do you know MBLAQ? Me: Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah~ I’m thrilled to see Tak & 1 Take for the interview! I can see the producers are also interested to know how their songs are received. From watching the producer interviews series, the producers/songwriters seem genuinely surprised when you point out what you noticed in the production or their ‘trademark’ in songs. It makes me think that they aim to make the best music they can, thats distinctive, sounds good and that they can be proud of. They hope the fans like it but like they didn’t expect them to analyse or notice the little tidbits they put in their songs. Excited to see more interviews with this duo in the future! (I knew you’d ask about Superhuman- personally, I’ve yet to hear such meticulous songwriting and production from this years releases). Also, props to the editing team for this video. Really appreciate the work gone into the interview and with the translator. The editing makes it seamless, so even with just the audio recording and subtitles, I can follow the flow of the conversation quite easily. (That genius Adrian though- haha!)

I totally got TAK when he mentioned the "chord progression that feels as if it's going off to space"! I think what he meant was a way of very unexpected but at the same time pleasant modulation which I personally love the most about their music. :-) A very good example for that and also my favorite track by them might be LOVELYZ' "Like U". I just love love love it!! Thank you so much for this amazing interview, Umu! It was so interesting to hear their thoughts on music production and composing.♥♥♥♥ Also, speaking of video game sounds and modulation, I'd like to suggest interviewing another amazing producer called e.one (정호현) and maybe also his former mate 최현준. Both of them, if on their own or together, created so many masterpieces. They composed a lot for artists like APRIL, Cosmic Girls, GFRIEND, LOVELYZ and IZ*ONE.

I came here curious about Roller Coaster, it's one of my favorites from Monsta X, hard to choose few favorites with so many different sounds they can do but this one is bright and yet fit very well with Monsta X. Thanks for this! These are guys are fantastic musicians. As someone outside the K-Pop world/fandom etc there's a small slice of K-Pop songs I really like, and they're largerly all by this duo. I love the great use of musical techniques that most other pop music simply never touches. It's really refreshing to see them blend some of that into the pop world. Would be great to here them talk more in depth about that and production/DAW stuff too. Do they do pure writing first, say a piano sketch, then produce? Or start electronically, and flesh out melodies and chords over that? When does the topline writer come into the process? Are the chords already done by then, or are they built around the top line? Favourite synths etc? That kinda stuff would be amazing.

I love love love these interviews with people who work on creating the songs in kpop!!! I don’t have much technical knowledge of music composition or such things or plan on learning a lot about that side, but it’s so so fascinating to hear from the creators and collaborators themselves. Thank you so much for reaching out to have these interviews because it feels like a side of kpop that doesn’t have a lot of light shed on it (despite being so integral!). Honestly I nerd out with you during these videos... learning what songs these people have worked on that I love, it’s especially super cool, as an artist myself, to get a glimpse into their minds as artists - even though their medium is music and mine is completely different. Because their art inspires my own!! Okay wait I might be getting a bit too excited and ramble-y on this comment. I just love these videos. I hope you can keep getting these awesome opportunities to talk to awesome people! And pick their minds! And then share with us! Heck yeah! Also a big thank you to the translator, Sia, for helping to make it possible for you to interview Tak and Take 1 and for us to hear and understand their thoughts. This makes me more excited cuz it’s like- now there’s even less barriers for who you could interview in the future. Aaaa okay I’m getting way too excited thinking about that, I shall end this comment before I write you a whole essay of gratitude and praise and happiness. I hope you’re having a lovely day because you just made mine

TAK has been known on Western soundcloud many years ago for his fantastic Zedd remixes and his K-Pop mashups inspired by Madeon. He's heavily inspired by Western EDM and nu-disco. I feel kinda bad for him producing K-Pop now. I mean...he's making good bank for sure, but he's too good for K-Pop. If you listen to his old stuff on soundcloud, you see that he stays far below his potential most of the time with his K-Pop productions. That's especially because complex, jazz-inspired melodies and heavy drops are key to his signature sound. Both are unwanted in mainstream-oriented K-Pop, so they're missing in most of his newer productions.
