Awesome video. The "official" TAK documentation is so much better than it was 4 years ago but still has a way to go. Community resources like this are really picking up the slack.

Thanks AJ, for all your videos including this one. I think the TAK folks can make the installation procedure easier, so the "TAK Server deployment made easy" video does not have to be three quarters of an hour !!!! ;-)

It takes 10 minutes to do lol, it's 45 mins because of me talking about what we are doing and showing examples etc! An image would be nice and something I think we will see soon and this won't be necessary.

I hope u can help me with a problem im facing. So i did everything, no errors the server works fine but whenever i try to connect to the server on atak app it says 'TAK Server registration failed' and notification 'Connection error' 'Please re-import your trust store certificate' . I did everything exactly like you twice just so i was sure i didnt do any mistakes.

Can this server setup work with itak?

I followed the script and got this running on a digitalocean server.. two days later came back and it's not running anymore. going through the script again doesn't start it up. Does this have any sort of persistence? how do you start it once it is stopped? and once its running again, what ports does it need open aside from 8443 (just setting up the digitalocean firewall). Thank you

The bottom of the instructions give you command to restart the tak server. If you want more in depth knowledge go to www.mytecknet.com he has a whole section starting the tak server. sudo systemctl start takserver.service should have it starting automatically

Thanks for replying. Still having issues with this unfortunately. I got it running the first time, but now, going through the steps again, on a brand new droplet, I am getting this error after trying to connect to a fresh server, with the new admin.p12 on firefox: Secure Connection Failed The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.... Have you ever had this issue or know what might be causing it? The server is up and running but there is some sort of SSL error somewhere? Thanks again..

Do has been doing some weird stuff I tried to run my scripts again and saw issue. i really recommend following JRs site...www.mytecknet.com. I have working right now a mix of CLI copy pastes and some scripts for Rocky8 for next week,

It actually will met me log in through chrome for some reason, but not firefox. The error is continuing in ff but just worked connecting with same admin.p12 in chrome.. weird

I got all the way up until install it is telling me I need Java 17 my first time using this stuff curious how I’d add Java 17 to the system

So these scripts are good for Tak Server 4.9. I don't have the scripts yet for 5.0 which needs Java 17. Hoping i can have these out soon. Please check out. www.mytecknet.com for Jrs tutorial. Its not scripts but pretty easy to follow along. My portion at the end about user management, building datapackages etc are still accurate.

I managed to follow this while installing takserver 4.9 rel46 all the way up to about 25 mins where you go to port 8443 on the server. I got logged in fine but it seems like I'm not logged in as an admin. I cannot get to the metrics dashboard, instead it just shows me a map. I've tried manually typing in the url and that doesn't work either. I'm using the admin.p12 cert. What am i doing wrong?

Hey what are you deployed on? I tried to use SSD Node service a couple weeks ago and I got the same experience. I swore I was using the admin p12 cert but I was getting to WebTAK just like you!. I ended up killing the server and have not tried again on SSD Node. I did deploy on another one on Digital Ocean and it worked fine. YOu can email me at [e-mail]

What is the initial atak account for? I can't see any reference of it in the scripts.

@@thetaksyndicate6234 Oh yeah I was trying to do 5.0. I figured if I just changed the version in the Centos7_tak4.9 It'd work lol. Just because this was the only tutorial I could find since 5.0 is on release like 58 or something.
