you should also do 'tempo' as a basic strategy thing. white moves first and has the road momentum and black is playing catchup/defense. A 3x3 game clearly displays this as I feel like white has the upper hand due to this tempo.

Similar to the concept of liberties in Go. Very awesome, I just ordered the book from Amazon to learn more about this game and the strategies involved

Really loving the analysis, but would be much clearer if I could actually see the black pieces on dark squares?

Really just a frustration with using light/dark for both the stones and the squares, resulting in low visibility for half the pieces in half the places?

This does help. Can you post a video of more advanced Capstone strategies? That's what I struggle with the most

+David Odle Glad it's useful. I'll try to cover some stuff about capstones, though I'm figuring things out as much as anyone at this point. :)

You have a great way of explaining things. Just keep going the way you are and work in new concepts as you learn them. Maybe chat with this guy about making videos of his blog www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjZhevU9-LSAhWGWSYKHXCqDI0QFggaMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftaktraveler.wordpress.com%2F&usg=AFQjCNEwIi9rU3MOkFBy8OrHweVuwQPjaw&sig2=Ncbi304tC8w2F5Sh-d5u8Q&bvm=bv.149760088,d.eWE

+Mr.Logipagy Power Hey thanks! There's a pretty huge response to it, I think it could catch on in it's own right. :)

This concept reminds me strongly of liberties in Go, for some reason. I think because it has the same 'structural' nature to it, where you can and for good play *must* reinforce your pieces with others.

Hey, it's maintained by TreffnonX, and just note that it takes him a few days to keep it up to date with new features on PlayTak.com treffnonx.github.io/TakWeb/

The game looks interesting, but from everything I've seen, it seems like the first player has such a huge advantage. The player who goes second not only misses out on the momentum by having to respond to the other player, they're basically playing down a piece because the player who goes first will of course start playing in an area of the board away from the second player's piece. So just typing all this out, an idea occurred to me that I haven't seen talked about anywhere (I don't use Reddit, so maybe this is common knowledge there). With black going second and white going first, would it not be most advantageous for black to place white's starting piece next to or at least very close to black's starting piece? That way he's already exerting influence over white's piece or at least squares near it. It seems to me that it's in white's interest to avoid conflict as long as possible to keep developing the board closer to a win, and it's in black's interest to create conflict as soon as possible so he can stop playing catch up, so wouldn't creating conflict immediately serve that purpose? Maybe placing them directly adjacent to each other might not be best, but the whole placing the stones on opposite sides of the board openings don't make sense to me, at least from black's perspective.

I agree that opposite ends of the board are probably not a good idea for black, but it's always going to be a bit of a defensive start. As long as black holds off the first road threat, they stand a chance.

Doesn't this break the game rules??? Stack can be at most the same size of the table (5 tiles high ) or not ???
@chrisborgars-smith24394 жыл бұрын
When you move a stack, you may only move as many pieces as the width of the table. The stack itself may theoretically contain every piece in the game (less three) :P
