With MP Trailbreaker, the KO added die-cast metal which increased weight and improved the 'hand feel'. I hope the KO-ers do the same thing here.

Hoist was my first Transformer, so I'm tempted by this guy, but I prefer the look of my FT Hitch. And I like to take my figures off of the shelf, so the weight is a big plus point for me.

Got my MP-58 a few days ago and like it overall. Not crazy about the gaps in the torso and the gappy upper arms [the left shoulder especially on my copy had trouble snapping in properly to the point I thought I was going to break the damn thing]...but minor complaints aside, it looks great especially if you have a grapple to put next to him.

The new Takara one looks like he’s wearing baggy yellow shorts, cause they flare out. The absence of a waist is odd looking

That's the way he looks in the cartoon. He's very toon accurate which isn't for everyone.

The more time I have looking at the G1 cartoon and comparing this it does look accurate for better or worse

The only thing I really dont like about this is the no articulation in the waist. Not even a swivel. I couldn't care about ab crunch, but they should have at least made him able to turn at the waist. Other than that, it would have been nice to get a cleaner back in bot mode like FansToys. I haven't purchased FTs because I was waiting for Takara's due to the crotch part being present in both FT's and XTB's. Takara's was clearly more toon accurate in that respect.

A relatively different transformation from Trailbreaker...impressive...most impressive. Them doors can get T-Wrecked, though, that's something they kept from Trailbreaker...I didn't like it there, and I don't like it here. And nah, there's no way to completely fill in that torso. It's a thing with Trailbreaker, too, and no doubt Riggoras will have the same exact issue...and any other Diaclone based repaints, like Lift-Ticket (red Hoist) or DK3 Guard (blue Trailbreaker). That wrench...I don't care, that needs to be handed over to Ratchet immediately...yesss!! (Yes, that mainline one you showed was Earthrise Hoist) Pretty sure the KO makers will include an actual G1 toy accurate head for the KO of Hoist, along with diecast in possibly the same places as Trailbreaker.

The transformation is different and the engineering does fix some issues other versions have. I will get a KO if they make one

Got to say I'm underwhelmed with Takara, and flat out disappointed with Hasbro. For me, this is no where near the FT Hoist and I feel like it should be better. Excellent and fair review.

I thought I would walk away from this liking FT more but this one did win me over during the review. Looking for clips of the character showed me Takara was toon accurate and still made the figure cooler than the cartoon

@@tydiriumhanger1320 I see in accessories it wins out and maybe in hand my impressions would be different, but to me it seems a little cheap. Maybe it's just the gaps on the side or the clear-ish front windshield that makes it look hallow in bot mode. I can see how someone would like the Takara and don't knock any for liking it but I don't see swapping out my FT anytime soon.

I still rock the first xtb release with silver and darker green. I prefer it, honestly. Mostly because xtb still does the best alt-mode. The FT looks like it was going for a balance of toy and toon rather than the super toon of the Tak, which seems to be toon to a fault...ugly T top. Great review, as always.

On one ever sells that version. I bought it wanting the silver from bbts then they said they ran out and they could give me the toon version.

The 1st XTB is the superior version of XTB and Hard to find now. Same with their Trailbreaker

This is probably my least favorite MP figure to date (post MP-10 that is), mainly because I've never liked Hoist's animation model. It would go a long way toward an improvement to me if they offered an option to remove or hide the exposed panels behind the arms. I also have a difficult time with his silly proportions. Then, the open windows in vehicle mode, the missing parts of the cab roof, the gaps in the chest in robot mode, and finally the lightness of his weight due to the thin plastic and hollow body.
