Some of the most beautiful music I've heard in my life! Glad I clicked

So kind of you to share this Masterpiece of Preludes of the Piano Repertoire… Music of the highest refinement! Finding the new in the quiet! Very Moody, Introspective, Nostalgic, Fragile, Pure & Innocent in the most heartfelt way! Rich with New Sonorities, Melodies, Modes, and Tonal Harmony! Many Time Signatures Shifts, yet… Its Ideas & Technique are saying no more than just what needs to be said in the most direct way possible, all at a moderate tempo most of the time… All is very naked and vulnerable, yet so meticulously crafted, from a generously learned spirit… I don’t necessarily resonate with every melodies, or ideas within these pieces, for a lot of them i do of course, but all of them do feel so completely fresh & inventive! A very profound Western/Eastern synthesis of musical language & addition to the Piano, itself used as an instrument for Storytelling on full display, which is, I feel, all too rare! Such a needed Contemporary revitalization of Classical Music and Tonal Music made accessible through the Piano… Yoshimatsu is truly one of a kind! Thank you so much for this Tyler! ✨🙏🏻😌

My favorite set is probably Pleiades Dances VII. Crazy good stuff.

So glad to see all of them compiled. Especially with Kyoko Tabe's recordings, because they got removed from spotify.

Though it doesn't obvserve a lot of the old, dusty counterpoint rules contrived from baroque music... this counterpoint is gorgeous and compelling in so many more ways. The free use of rhythm and liberty with form give it the ability to do what it wants to do and it doesn't have to do more or less than that. Yoshimatsu has found a way to strike a balance between beauty, atmosphere, and intrigue to create something new yet simple.

So what? He is Japanese, and he is free to mix all kinds of styles open-mindedly.

@@fumiotsuki5027 I'd say that anyone is allowed to do that

Nicely described but Now I’ll need to research counterpoint

@mikechilds4085 I'd recommend looking it at if you like, it's an interesting, almost puzzle-like art form. Don't sweat it though, a lot of people go about counterpoint like math homework when it's, in my view, more like a kind of paint or a brush for composition. Happy exploring!

AYO BASED May I ask where did you get the digital score for these? I have been searching for them for quite some time and so far I've only found the 6th and 9th sets.

When I started listening to this, I was like “hmmm it sounds like my earbuds are out of sync” and it turns out they were. Moral of the story: I’m always right.
