I grew up playing this song and singing it while living in Maryland. Now West Virginia is my home and this song is the mantra , the soul and the spirit of this great state! The tagline take me home country roads is on everything, license plates, tee shirts , tourism advertising, etc. John Denver made us proud with this great song and Emily did it justice! Thanks so much for taking me home once again!

I remember John Denver like it was yesterday. When my kids were young and we were going on long drives, we would all burst into song, our favourite was ‘Grandma’s feather bed’. Other nearby drivers must have thought us a cookie lot, singing at the tops of our voices. Loved those years.

Me too. I met him when I was a volunteer at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He was also a great golfer as well as a great singer. But I never forget when I heard the news that his experimental plane he was piloting crashed into Monterey Bay, killing him at the age of 53 on October 12, 1997. RIP John Denver.

I wish my dad was still alive to hear this. This was his favorite song and he always had his female friends sing it while he played guitar but was never satisfied. He would have paid whatever amount you wanted to meet up and sing this with you. He was a musical savant who died of suicide on 2007 and oh how I wish I’d inherited his musical abilities. 😢
