I am an old dude; I actually knew John in the late 70s; I was living in Aspen...of course he really was just as sweet a guy as you would imagine he was; He used to do free concerts in the park for the local kids; he built a new High School for them, and would not allow the town to name it after him...he was just the coolest

I grew up playing this song and singing it while living in Maryland. Now West Virginia is my home and this song is the mantra , the soul and the spirit of this great state! The tagline take me home country roads is on everything, license plates, tee shirts , tourism advertising, etc. John Denver made us proud with this great song and Emily did it justice!
