For those who wonder why Morgan is not a big star, she signed with Epic Records. But I heard her say in an interview that she wasn't willing to compromise with some of the music industry's agenda, so they dropped her after 2 albums. Achieving fame was never one of her goals, it was always about the music. Along with all of her amazing talents, she has integrity as well.

This came on SiriusXM the other day, and it was the first time I ever heard her voice. I actually pulled over to listen to it without any distraction. Morgan James' voice deserves one's full attention. She's brilliant. And what I like is she can be powerful or delicate without all the unnecessary, showy vocal gymnastics which have come into vogue in vocal/pop/R&B singing in the past 20 years or so. She is direct. She doesn't need to bombard the listener with a dozen different notes within each word - she nails it with simplicity and power.

This lady is truly gifted. Arrangement was wonderful. I understood every word Miss James was singing; that is unusually impressive, especially when the song lyrics are so classically amazing. She is stunning!

Morgan James is an absolute powerhouse in the world of music, a vocalist whose extraordinary talent and versatile artistry have set her apart as one of the most compelling performers of her generation. From her early days on Broadway to her stunning solo career, Morgan James has consistently captivated audiences with her soulful voice, impeccable technique, and magnetic stage presence. James's journey began in the realm of musical theater, where she quickly made a name for herself with standout performances in productions such as "The Addams Family," "Godspell," and "Motown: The Musical." Her time on Broadway honed her skills and showcased her ability to command the stage, drawing rave reviews for her powerful and emotive singing. However, it was her transition to a solo career that truly allowed her to shine and explore the full breadth of her musical abilities. Her debut solo album, "Hunter," released in 2014, marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter. The album, a blend of soul, R&B, and pop, highlighted James’s remarkable vocal range and her ability to infuse each song with raw emotion and authenticity. Tracks like "Call My Name" and "Say the Words" display her incredible control and the rich, resonant quality of her voice, earning her a loyal following and critical acclaim. One of the most remarkable aspects of Morgan James’s career is her dedication to creating and performing music that speaks to her artistic vision. She has a unique talent for reinterpreting classics, as demonstrated in her soulful renditions of songs by legends like Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, and Prince. Her covers are not mere imitations but rather fresh, inspired takes that breathe new life into beloved tracks, showcasing her deep respect for the originals while highlighting her own distinct style. In addition to her studio albums, Morgan James has gained widespread recognition for her dynamic live performances. Whether on stage with her band or in intimate acoustic settings, she brings a palpable energy and passion to every show. Her ability to connect with audiences, combined with her stunning vocal prowess, makes each performance a memorable experience. Moreover, James’s collaborations with other artists and her work with the popular music collective Postmodern Jukebox have further expanded her reach and demonstrated her versatility. Her renditions of contemporary hits in a vintage style, as featured with Postmodern Jukebox, are a testament to her creativity and ability to cross genres seamlessly. Her subsequent albums, such as "Reckless Abandon" and "Memphis Magnetic," have continued to build on her impressive body of work, each project reflecting her growth as an artist and her unwavering commitment to authenticity in her music. "Reckless Abandon" showcases her songwriting prowess and deep emotional resonance, while "Memphis Magnetic" pays homage to the classic soul and blues that have influenced her throughout her career. Morgan James is a rare talent in today's music landscape. Her career, marked by both critical and commercial success, is a testament to her exceptional abilities as a vocalist, performer, and artist. With each new project, she continues to push boundaries and captivate audiences around the world, solidifying her place as one of the most exciting and dynamic voices in music today. www.candiano.com/

You know it's a good song when PMJ does not have to find an era to match this song. They just do a cover and that's that. This song has so much raw emotion and getting Morgan James to use her voice is just so amazing, I still cannot fathom how good that was. This was a great song, thank you for a great cover, hope you find more songs like Take Me To Church, just.... wow :)

Mr. Bradlee, Ms. James: that was beautiful. Some songs are just for fun, and some songs are quite serious. Take Me to Church is quite serious, and I feel that your performance was very respectful to that. Thank you both very much.

@@jasonmarques1480 Thanks for the tip. I tried a few times. If I remember correctly, she knew the song, liked it, but said she'd need a lot of practice before she could sing it. Feel free to join and propose this song too, if you're interested!

I love the fact that she does her version with great arrangement and a pianist that listens to what's going on and also that she gives it all she got, misses a few things but who cares she keeps going with the flow. I can listen to this on a loop, what a voice what a sould and passion this lady seems to have. Thank you.

HOLY SH*T what a performance - since KZbin's algorithms caught up with my musical tastes a fortnight ago and recommended a PMJ cover (7 Nation Army) I have had a VERY enjoyable few days exploring their 'back catalogue' and by default Morgan James & Hayley Reinhart - (see the Dear Prudence duet - its sublime) - but this tops everything I've watched so far - jaw droppingly good........
