surely it'd be three (or six!) Sol-Ark units for 3ph configuration?
@jleal46113 жыл бұрын
@@niceride Yes. I think three in 3 phase configuration will work fine to start with. My main CNC only ever pulls about 40% spindle load with the parts I typically run, and that equates to about 3Kw max. It’s a Haas, so the spindle controller is already a VFD, which helps. But I plan to buy a second mill in the near future too.

My father hired a company to put up 74 solar panels, but these companies want from $10 to $20 for a battery back up. So we have 74 panels, but if the power goes out we're sitting in the dark because our power as you may have guessed is routed to the power company, so the power being produced by the panels is not directly accessible. Having batteries constantly plugged in and charged would be nice for hurricane season as we have managed with a generator, but if the crap hits the fan, and there is no electricity due to damaged power lines, or government shut downs, etc., we're without power. I wonder if there is a way other than having our own battery backup units (with their own solar panels) that we can change this and possibly add a switch or switches to reroute and access the power. We have a well thus we need power for the water pump. The water heater and stove are gas, so that relieves some of the need for electricity.

I'd still like to see you do a video compiling off-the-shelf, retail Box Store retail components. The Harbor Freight Thunderbolt 100 watt kit, that I believe can be expanded to 400 watts comes to mind. The I'm not talking something to power an entire house or sell electricity back to the grid. I'm thinking something more along the lines of operating a small dwelling. Lights, a fan, TV, an on demand RV style water pump, small refrigerator.... No electric climate control, water heater or stove. I'd like to build a solar powered tiny home system with parts I can walk in and purchase components locally with cash when I have it.

Great job Scott and crew!!!! Just had a question, been looking to do solar myself but the way everyone's meter setup is done is on the house, my meter happens to be pole mounted approximately 200' from my house. How would I be able to tie into a system like this, are the transfer switches able to be mounted inside my garage (where breaker panel is located) or do they have to be next to the meter, cannot get a direct answer from the Co-Op (my electrical co) nor can I get any electricians to say either....

Engineer775, where do you work? I am near San Diego..
@matthewsteurrys10833 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've already thought of this. Is there a chance that the hammer and the lines drops your capacity for the total machine enough that it overheats. My friend said it happened with his big attachments on his low flow bobcat.
@engineer7753 жыл бұрын
It is possible but it worked really well for the first few jobs and continues to get worse. I'm getting the right amount of pressure to the tire post driver but the hammer itself is not getting the right amount of pressure like it did when I first bought it. I moved testing gauges all over it to try to figure it out and all I can find now is that the pressure is too low at the hammer.

Sometimes it is easier to build two seperate racks that are identical. Also the customer wanted to tighten up the space where they raise were set as he had a fence on one side and a road on the other so one long array would have been too long.

Is it true the inverters will not function without the presence of the grid's incoming power? The anti-islanding safety precaution feature I believe. If so what is the workaround for this? Could you use a bypass to feed some of the power to the grid-side of the inverter? I don't want to shock utility workers but if things go dark and no batteries, how does one get power? I did a line-side tap due to my old busbar rating. I suppose a disconnect between the main service/house panel and the incoming utility meter would be needed? Is there a product for this, I can't imagine I'm the only one dealing with this.

Curious if you can walk through the array math for me? The panels look like 72+72 cells so if the open circuit voltage on the string of 14 is ~305V then each panel must be two series groups of 72 in parallel. Why isn't the open circuit voltage higher though, shouldn't those be nominal 36V panels? I assume two runs back to the SolArk with each combiner into an MPPT. Also I calculate the voltage drop at ~2.7% with 8AWG over 300', are you targeting 3% or so ? Thanks for the great vids, I have a 10K gallon slowpump gravity project I'm working on too and will reach out separately.

Very true. That is the case with my co-op now is there charging $7.50 per kilowatt for the privilege to have solar and only giving you four cents a kilowatt for any power you export to them while they charge you 13 cents. Our solution is to operate behind the meter and battery. storage
