I'm also going be reviewing the Tory 1:10 Back to the Future Delores soon as well so keep your eyes peeled for those videos and much, much more!

I may have said this in the last video, but ideally Gridiron needs to make it so the pieces work without the flight pod too. Side steps any pesky lawsuits.
@alanthecollector
@alanthecollector 9 күн бұрын
At this point they practically are! The ridable mechs they put out have legs that are based on these upgrades. All they really need are newer compatible arms and you have a truly original Gridiron Mech with no G.I. Joe Classified parts needed!

I wish Gridiron Studios move over to injection moulding and branch out. There stuff is so damn good but being 3D printed i just feel like eventually its gonna snap and break sooner than a plastic moulder one would.
@alanthecollector
@alanthecollector 18 күн бұрын
The upfront cost associated with injection molding would be incredibly expensive for a company of Gridiron’s size. It’s already one of if not the most expensive part of manufacturing for mist action figure companies. It’s easy to eat the cost for big players like Hasbro, Mattel and Bandai because they can more readily eat the costs associated with the process and they manufacture overseas which significantly reduces the cost of manufacturing. Gridirion on the other hand produces and assembles all of its products in the U.S.
@collectorsalmanac
@collectorsalmanac 18 күн бұрын
@@alanthecollector See i would agree but you have Third Party companies doing figures that are far better than the main line stuff for not much more. I collect Transformers mainly and do the MP Line, and ive paid £120 recently for figure that i would never have got from mainline hasbro. Its entirely possible for them to do it.
@alanthecollector
@alanthecollector 18 күн бұрын
I see your point, but I would imagine those third party companies are still manufacturing overseas which significantly reduces the price of the final product. Please correct me if I'm wrong though. I think in the case of Gridiron, overseas production is just not something they want to get into at this time. Maybe in time as they continue to grow, but for now, I think the in house 3D-Print business model they've pioneered is what they'll continue with. I will say I've put these sets through the wringer, both on and off camera and they feel about as durable as the flight pod itself if not more so. I don't think you'll have to worry about them breaking. Do you have any larger pieces from Gridiron? I really appreciate you for sharing your thoughts!

I respect your assessment. This isn’t going to be for everybody for a number of reasons, but if it clicks with you then it clicks. and you have to admit the engineering is pretty amazing. As one of the largest toy companies, Hasbro should always be able to deliver a great product at an affordable price, but if the VAMP and Cobra Stinger were $100, I don’t see a S.N.A.K.E. Armor from Hasbro being any cheaper, but I could be wrong. With that said, is there anything about my review that you enjoyed? Thanks for leaving your thoughts!

you don’t want to know how many Roboskulls I backed! I was Day one from the start of the Kickstarter working on my review now and I must say it’s a sight to behold! the Gridiron Mech looks great standing next to it too!
@alanthecollector
@alanthecollector 20 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t say never. It looks like Hasbro maybe slowing down on the number of Haslabs in favor of large scale exclusive items with an open preorder window. A S.N.A.K.E. Armor would likely be released that way since it’s probably too small for a Haslab, but too large for general retail for Hasbro to want to risk clearance.

@@alanthecollector Firstly, thank you for the coherent and professional response, that's not received very often when one provides critical impressions on a video. What I did find pleasant is that the composition of the video remained consistent. You kept on target and didn't stray. Your lighting was well placed, and the background was clear of distractions. I could tell the excitement through the tone of your voice, which is authentic...I would recommend in your replay, watch when you start talking fast..it gets more difficult for the viewer to understand some tenses of your words. Now my critical view of this, and most Gridiron products, is that I feel that this set was pushed out as fast as possible and their normal print quality wasn't in this build..the build lines and poor cleanup of some pieces, especially in the front cover of the snake armor, is just the company's inability to keep up with the orders they've received...I say that as someone who bought the bottom legs parts and was not impressed. As a 3D printer myself, I'm especially vigilant on products not injected molded...Just as I am for products, I buy from Etsy creators like PixisDesign. Hope this clarifies my original quick response. I hope you have a pleasant holiday time and much success to your channel.

@@barbarianlostatsea The clarification is received and in terms of responses, the feeling is mutual. I'm always looking to improve and any insight one can give me as far as things I might be overlooking or on ways that I can improve my videos is key to my continued development! Thank you. Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the legs. Though I personally really enjoyed, I realize that's not the reality for everyone. I hope they improve in ways enough for you to come back around to their larger pieces, but in the meantime, as I collect more from them in the future, I hope you can use me as a resource on what to expect from their products before you buy! I really appreciate your constructive feedback and I hope to see you back around!

Why buy the toy in the first place if you're just making something completely different
@alanthecollector
@alanthecollector 18 күн бұрын
For myself personally there are two reasons: 1) I’m an army builder and I have eight regular flight pods in my collection so it was easy to spare a couple to upgrade. 2) When the thing that you can make looks really cool, its easy to make the necessary purchase to make the original figure different and more fun.
