Good morning..the video was very informative...i enjoy wearing dark socks 4 the fall and winter seasons..for spring and summer bright and colorful...4 church tomorrow i plan 2 have on a pair of light lavender socks 2 along with my light weight double breasted spring/summer suit..peace

I've found that colorful socks work a lot better with odd color suit combos than full matching suits. They're more consistent with the whole mix and match theme of odd color suits, but stick out like a sore thumb with full matching suits.

All in all, colorful socks are a whole lot of fun to wear! I even wear white dress socks sometimes. But I always follow the sock rule when wearing a full matching suit.

I just purchased several pairs of socks from Fort Belvedere. I can tell you that when you receive and open the package, you can tell immediately that these socks are high quality. I just finished the pre wash before wearing as instructed, and plan to wear them every chance I get. I will purchase more in the future. I also hope to be able to somehow store my new socks in the classy box they were shipped in. Great customer service too! Thank you GG!

@@gentlemansgazette I chose the socks in my purchase to pair with dress trousers and chinos, oxfords and loafers. They are extremely comfortable. It is a small detail that makes a big difference in my ensembles. Again, I will be making another purchase soon after disposing of some of my older socks. Thanks again.

They sell their own socks, no incentive to talk about other brands. This is the case with every product they sell unless it's something very popular that brings interest.

@@Aggnog Farthing are more focused on suits, hats, and classic winter/summer wear so there's not much of a conflict of interest there, though the accessories and ties might be a bit. They talk about other brands quite a bit, though, just not much in product categories that they sell themselves, which is reasonable.

they have some interesting fabrics and textures but with designs that are so countercultural there's always the risk of garments looking costumey, as if you're auditioning for a movie extra, classic tailoring is usually about understated elegance, about making an impression as the well-dressed guy, not the Peaky Blinders guy.

I prefer to choose 1 common color for my dress shoes (+ matching belts). PS: Blue shirts seem to fo with everything except black tie / white tie. Also I favor maroon as the primary color for necktie / bowtie + just vary patterns. 😃

I haven't watched the video yet,....but I own now seven pairs of Fort Belvedere over the knee socks, and I LOVE them all!! They feel the best, they look the best, they rock every outfit from jeans to chinos to wool trousers,....and with every mid-casual to dressy shoe. I particularly like wearing them with chukka boots. I have found NO other sock brands that beat them. Okay, now to start the vid. Thanks.

They're just such a nice visual bridge between pants and shoes, just like in the photos of Sven Raphael, modeling them. I've owned and worn fancy and colorful socks before...but they were frankly a bit obnoxious. These are colorful and classy. When you sit down, you WANT people to notice them.

I'm all for them. When the weather is warm, I wear sheer socks (mostly black and navy, but sometimes brown as well) on an almost daily basis. I wear them for work. I think it looks very tasteful with a formal and business casual look. To keep them up, I wear sock garters that coordinate with the color of the socks. I know it's frowned upon here, but I find them practical and whimsical. When the weather warms up, I find the lightness of the sheer socks to be practical and comfortable. I think they look great, and I've been wearing them for years. I highly recommend it. Wear them well and as often as you want. Do you wear them as well?

Love the materials that Raphael and Co. have been preparing for years. They are way more stylish than me and I keep learning from them. However, in the matter of socks, that is the hill I chose to die on. Colourful socks, even if tastefully combined with the rest of ensemble always look to me childish and in a fully irrational way make me not trust the person in front of me. I get the feeling that the person wearing them does not really want to be there, and he is rakish for the sake of it. Bold and tasteful ties and pocket squares do not produce the same effect of untrustworthiness to me. Now mind you, this is just my personal view, and I know i am weird. Keep up the good work!

Hi! Thanks for replying! As I mention is a matter of personal preference. If the tone of the suit is vivid, with beautiful bold colors, and the socks are nicely coordinated in bold colors, I see a really nice put together picture. If the suit is more toned down, more neutral colors and the socks are coordinated yet in a more vivid set of tones I have the feeling that the person is not about making a coherent ensemble that they are just being distracting, and distraction feelings lead me to lack of trust, as if they were removing my attention from the focal point. When everything is bold, there is coherence in the picture, when some things are and some aren't I got that vibe. Fully irrational I do not deny it.

that's not true if your suit is beige, brown or any light colour / pastel. Black socks would look terrible with those.
