Anyone who has interviewed Sean Connery knows that the man exuded star power. Watch as he entertains the press during a 1990 press conference for the film, "The Hunt For Red October." Connery would be turning 60 a few months later.

If you actually listen to him he’s really humble….he didn’t take the worlds sexiest man seriously, when asked if he always so charismatic he actually looked embarrassed and said he didn’t remember anyone ever telling him that. If you look at the BEST actors (Sean Connery, Marlon Brando, Harrison Ford, James Cagney) they always downplayed themselves and never took to being put up on a pedestal like that well (both Brando and Cagney said “showing your face in public makes you an ass”). Then you have Steven Seagal who takes himself VERY SERIOUSLY 😂😂

Hi from England Your description needs amending as this interview was done in 1990 NOT 1999. Back then the entertainment world was so much different. I think better as the press in that room asked proper questions not like today's so called press pack that are moron's and just ask stupid questions. Sean was very adept and answering and very rarely said YOU KNOW YOU KNOW YOU KNOW Better, much simpler days back then

6:40 to 7:17 he basiccally gives away the essence of his persona. Of being James Bond. I'm definitely not the type to be a Tate follower, but there is some resemblance in their views. Connery says not to vent about all of your problems because everybody has them. Tate says it's not manly to show weakness, Connery defines it in slightly different wording. While I do not agree fully and it's not applicable in all situations, you will get farther when meeting new people by not mentioning all your issues straight away. Basically the trick is to play it cool. This man really is James Bond

I don't think that he 'hated' the Bond role. But after multiple 007 films, he grew tired of it. And he didn't want to be typecast. It's why he took on disparate roles in films like Zardoz, The Anderson Tapes and The Man Who Would Be King. He proved to be a fine, versatile actor. I'm confident that he continued to make good money.
