Which for Southern Teams happened quite a bit-as desperate as Dawgs fans are to say Atlanta isn’t a home game, come in in said the spider to the fly. The January bowl games are a big advantage for some programs, many of the programs that have done so well under that format. Maybe this new format will improve things, filter out teams that can’t compete in hostile environments.

My biggest takeaway from the first round of the playoffs is none of the games were competitive and the second round matchup between my Texas Longhorns and the Arizona State Sun Devils may not be competitive in my opinion because Texas is going to feel angry after losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta

Here comes the talk again of Oregon can’t beat and doesn’t have a chance vs Ohio State. I’ve heard this before leading into the first game and Oregon won. Dan lanning needs to hype his team up saying no one is giving us a chance

It's a seeded tournament! The higher seeds are expected to win in the first round. (The auto byes in quarters are artificial)

Ugh. The first round was boring for anyone except the home team fans. The beginning of each game was kind of fun seeing the atmospheres of each stadium in their first ever times of hosting playoff games. But after that moment wore off it was kinda blah. I know the 12 most "deserving" teams got into this playoff. But I honestly don't think that means the 12 "best" teams got in. I think a few teams left out would have made better games out of this first round.

I think they need to get away from having any of the games at one teams home field. In watching I think that the home teams had a tremendous advantage.

Like I said a few years ago, there aren't enough quality teams to fill a 12-team playoff and there will be blow-outs and embarrassments. Add to that the dumb selection criterion guaranteed non-competitive matchups.

Clemson's issue has been the defense, specifically the run defense, all year. Word on the street is Goodwin (DC) is getting fired. Thats what Clemson fans want! You can't replace Brent V but this dude has had a few years now and the defense continues to go backward. Side note: Clemson also has a lot of young studs. A lot of those names you heard making plays are freshman. If we can get a competent DC next year, I think we can potentially compete with the best.

It’s going to be Oregon, Texas, Georgia, and Penn State. Boise State, ND, and Arizona State will lose bad to borderline blowout losers. Boise State will likely lose so bad that unless a G6 team is undefeated or has 1-loss by a 8 point margin or less to a future playoff team and must beat one or two A4 teams and one top G6 team in non conference games just to be eligible for a playoff berth and home field advantage but will never get a bye again because Boise State loses so bad. So what many autonomous schools are hoping is that Penn State beats Boise State like Oregon beat Liberty last year, so no G6 teams get a first round bye again unless undefeated and got two wins against A4 teams in non conference games and 2 not 1 A4 conference has champs with 3-losses. They will let G6 teams host a playoff game but will never get a bye again unless extreme circumstances happen. In a lot of ways this year nearly fits that description, except Boise State doesn’t have any wins over A4 teams and any wins over top G6 teams except maybe WazzU and possibly considering Georgia Southern in non conference games.

Alabama beat fricking Georgia. The SEC champs. The team that beat Texas TWICE. And nobody wants to remember that. lol. What the reality of the situation really is, is that Alabama was one of those teams that just wanted to beat the big teams but was too full of themselves against teams they thought they could just walk over. It was obvious all season that Alabama could have been the best team in the country if they actually wanted to be. But they could also be as bad as a 6-6 team when they decided they didn't care. Alabama beat themselves this season more than anything else. They lost the mental discipline game with themselves for several games this season and it bit them in the rear in a few of them. DeBouer is no Nick Saban. And he's gonna need to figure something out or he might not ever get the best out of this team for a complete season. Only here and there when his players "feel like it." Ugh.

Don’t forget that powerhouse in Vanderbilt that was promoted into the ranking after having lost to Georgia St in order to keep that basic low energy Alabama team in the National Title discussion, any other team losing to Vanderbilt would have been rightfully mocked.
