Very nice vehicle. Nice to see this thing used in the field.

“Pin striping” should be worn as a badge of honor! That means you’re using it as intended!
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
Yep, I agree. Once the first "contact" has been made, it is less of an issue. I built this vehicle for a purpose and the concern about pin striping is not really an issue because of what is "on the other side".

I’ve been up & through the “ Squeeze” on Pinyon Mountain many , many times on My Dual sport Yamaha & in my Suzuki Samurai. I now have my 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 diesel crew cab set up for Overlanding & am planning a few trips to the Blair valley area right near that very trail in this video. And “ Yeah , your truck IS way too big “ to fit through it. Beautiful area to explore with fantastic views , especially leading right up to “ Heart -attack hill” not too much further along that trail. !! Stay safe out there bud , and I really enjoyed this one with ya here . 😎👍
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing. I actually relocated to Blair Valley on Monday afternoon due to the strong winds and the blowing dust/sand on the squeeze trail area. Better conditions here in the valley. Is there access to see heart attack hill from the other side at all? I know it is one going down, but would like to see it in general.

The “Squeeze “ was the first trip I took in the Anza Borrego SP in a Toyota 4Runner in 1986. 1997 I took my full size Ford F250 extended cab with 8 ft bed there. Rocky trail near the Squeeze. Never went through the squeeze.

It would be nice to hear, after you have used the rig for a while, your thoughts on possible mods and what you would have ordered differently.
@dtadventure4x42 ай бұрын
I already made the first modifications ... haha. It's all minor, but I will point it out in an upcoming tour video.

Like the rig. On tire pressure. I have a somewhat similar platform and weight. For sand and stone combo I go down to 28- 30 psi. One suggestion go to a CAT scale and weigh your rig. $14 well spent. When you see the actual weights, especially your rear axle, maybe consider a more conservative interval on your axle lubricants.
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
Yeah, that is on my to-do list. Rossmonster had it weight before I picked it up, but now with me, the dog, and all my gear in it I should do that sooner than later. I will experiment with the tire pressure as I go. Just taking this rig into different environments for now to learn how it drives on sand and rocks and so on. I am planning to be on top of the service cycles as well as re-torque or check on all bolts as well.
@davidanderson846941 минут бұрын
@@dtadventure4x4 Yeah you can do a rear, front axle and total weight. Fill your fuel tank and other fluids up and "stuff".

West to East. I am not sure how much further from where I was to the actual "Squeeze". I think a mile or so? Can't tell ...

@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
@@montyjcm You will need some ground clearance and good off-road tires, but nothing too crazy (depending on your wheelbase of course).

Are you going to do a total cost breakdown of the truck? This seems to be a really great option for an expedition truck. Quite curious about cost, deposits, options, timeline, all that good stuff.
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
I am thinking about it. RM changed their distribution model and pricing significantly after my order - so, I am not sure anymore how relevant my pricing information is as you cannot buy for those prices anymore. Again, I am thinking about it.

You know a drone would help you decide what Is in front of you and also give you some really scenic shots from above
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
I "left" my drone in Idaho on a very tall tree after the wind pushed it into the branches and it decided to stay 40+ ft. up there :-(. It is on my shopping list, but there are a few big ticket items that have a higher priority before I can buy a drone.

How long is your rig?
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
HA, wheelbase is 176". Overall length is about 25' due to the overhanging storage boxes.

Very Cool Setup. I enjoy you videos.. plus good information.. thx… I have similar situation as you, completely built out f-250 with 10 foot Alaskan, flatbed, 600 amh battleborn, if I could think it, I added it.. full carli kit, etc… but after I did everything I wanted to make it work for me…. I sold the camper, similar to what you did with your first rig. because I want something that will give me the comfort and space and storage I needed… but light weight… I want a rig i can take on semi diffucult trails, so I had a custom camper made that is light weigh… which leads me to my question. I mainly see tours of the Ross monster baja… but not yet to see someone take it to anywhere that is much of a challenge… I can imagine the price tag might be why? I’m curious what your plans are, how you will use your new truck… stuff like this video..or more challenging stuff… I also understand you travel solo… I’d just love to see someone in truck camper doing some challenging stuff… by the way… 37” tires ? Thanks for making your videos…
@dtadventure4x4Ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and sharing your own story and thoughts. Yes, my rig is on 37s. I am not shying away from challenging trails. The trail that led me to where I am right now definitely posed some challenges as it was extremely rocky and the rig was bouncing left and right like crazy even though I was going super-slow. The technical rating because of what I described is a 4. I built this rig to go off the beaten path and while I keep the invested amount of money in mind, I am also on the lookout for adventure. It really depends on what is do-able due to the overall height and wheelbase.
@mustdodiving5263Ай бұрын
Thanks for responding… I had the same problem with the rocking left to right… it’s the worse feeling… the guys at CJC have told me that I need to remove my rear sway bar, that it prevents the suspension from doing its job. My new rig is not as low as I was aiming for in the down position .. 46 + 6 roof. In my Alaskan it had a lot of storage at head level. My new camper will have nothing higher than the counter top. I hope this will also reduce the left to right rocking… also got my shocks custom tuned CJC says that should make a big difference. I was thinking about the switching from the 2.5 kings to the 3.0 but then I have to upgrade a bunch of the other Carli parts… I will have to wait to see, my camper is waiting for me to pick it up and I’m out of the state helping my mom recover from an ankle replacement… so it will probably be a few more months before I get out there again. I normally go out a few months at time… but family first… I call OC home…

Yeah,light rules offroad. I just sold my 2000 Northstar popup and my 2007 Ram Cummins 5.9 w/G-56 manual trans. I'm 75 and aged out of it. I had the camper on two Ram diesels and 33 Baja trips. Might just pickup a small tent trailer and pull it with my 2023 Honda Passport Trailsport. That Cummins would effortlessly carry my 2200# popup.
