Hey so I said I wasn't gonna cover Ken but enough people asked me to, plus it gives me an opportunity to make fun of his new criminal ways so why not! That all said Ken... well Ken is still Ken, but with some new ditties and some very improved buttons! As with the last few videos, big ups to Justin Wong for providing the footage, thank you!

What do you hate about him...? ... as for me, my cousins and I used to take ownership of characters we choose, so Ken was someone I never got to try. I always liked his flare, but Blue was my color in the group, and I picked Chun Li, so I was fine with picking Ryu as a head-canon pairing. But those years of young days have long since passed and Ken looks more appealing to me than he ever has. Status of a character matters little to me because it is all fictional. Even if they were responsible for offing my favorite character (giving Tekken the stink-eye). ... my thing about fighters is that I absolutely HAVE to be able to RUN. For spacing purposes. I hate dashing with a passion, and now Ken (and Kimberly) have something akin to that that I can utilize whenever I want. So not only does his flashy mix-ups appeal to me more than ever, what sold me on him NOW is that he has the ability to run.

The fact that they're giving a shoto big buttons is a good sign. In 5 it felt like if a shoto was good at one range, they were gimped for all others. This feels pretty rounded.

Ok so now this is the last character overview as its the final character thats new to the latest build, the other 4 have months and months of footage that have been out there plus well... I don't got good footage, most of it is crap quality out there lol. Probably a couple more SF6 videos yet to come on the channel as right now its just Street Fighter Season, but that crossplay beta for Strive has to be soon, right?

... like xzMango5 said. And it's a VERY big difference. I loathe dashing, which is why Street Fighter is among my weakest of fighters. I absolutely need the running mechanic in fighters. Preferably baked in as just the input of a dash, but I am no stranger to Dash Command characters and now that Ken (and Kimberly) has it to use whenever he wants, I am finally about to pick up Ken after all these years.

I love how, instead of removing tools from previous iterations, they are adding it back in some ways. I think SF6 is looking to be more fun to watch... AND play and I'm all for it. One thing worth noting for the kick, the followups are forward and kick, so there's the possibility that you could go into his normal kick buttons too. He doesn't have forward+kick command normals, so there's no overlap. Depending on how minus the kick is, can make some cheeky pressure resets or links potentially

Ken did it. He returned to monkey. That Level 2 lightning shot before an amazing return of the best that Super has ever looked more than makes up for the fact that his story in VI is so enigmatic and ominous. Also, my goodness, the dev team REALLY wants those hits to be real meaty, the range on that toe tap is amazing, even if it might be due to the opponent having a bigger hurt than hit box for them to get punished like that.

The fact that the Level 8 CPUs in SF6 know how to pull off combos, can read your inputs, and have advanced fighting game knowledge (shimmies, frame advantage, whiff punish, etc.) makes it more scary and difficult to fight against.

And I fail to see how having what is essentially a divekick is a gimmick. Those are consistently some of the strongest types of moves you can have in SF.

I took a look at Ken's level 3, and I noticed, it has a bit of similarity to Terry's Buster Ignition climax from Kof 15. Things like that really makes me think that we're gonna get a Capcom vs SNK 3, because you can tell the companies know about the similarities.

Unfortunately I just don't have access to the quality footage for the older build characters like I do for the newer build characters. Lots of the old footage is just all over the place and low quality. Will be plenty of footage come the beta though(as long as I can get in lol)

Generally speaking, some moves don't look that great from what we've seen of SF6 so far. Like Ken's level 1 super when he goes from the last tatsu kick into the Bruce Lee kick. It's just weird and off-looking. But I guess if that's what I'm complaining about, then they've done a good job with the stuff that really matter.

That's the nature of mocap, some moves look great, some look weird. Jaimie's breakdance and drunken kung fu blend looks great while some moves like that final dragon kick look off.

To be fair about the standing light kick, this might be a hitbox issue with cr.mk instead of the button being absurd Seems like the leg was just about to extend, but ken immediately reels back. The hitbox for the extended part of the kick might come out a frame earlier then the actual animation. Could be wrong tho

If I have to compare SF6 Ken to someone I’d go with Terry Bogard. Specifically how he looked in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, I was reminded a lot of Garou Terry when looking at SF6 Ken, and who knows maybe that could be an inspiration/artistic choice

It's not right to right him off as "a bad guy" because his family happens to be wealthy....in fact in the books AND some of the spin off anime they paint him as a great guy that prioritizes his family and best friend over anything else. He also is usually the one to help beat some sense into Ryu when he starts going towards the dark Hado. (in some versions of the story anyhow) But bottom line, he is viewed as extremely loyal and trust worthy by everyone that personally knows him in the story. So again....not cool roofle

Let’s just say he’s a *very* problematic individual, to the point where Nintendo had to stop using the English version of the Street Fighter-themed Smash Ultimate commercial. Going by what Reuben said on his Twitter account, it’s implied that Capcom gave him a chance to disavow his terrible views. But he refused to do so, hence the recast. Long story short, it seems like Reuben was the one who burned the bridge with Capcom. As such, don’t be surprised if Dante ends up with a new English voice actor in his next appearance.
