Taking a Gap Year in my FORTIES!! [12 months of travel in 10 minutes]

A look back at the most amazing year of my life, when I solo travelled around the world for a whole year.
What's it like to travel the world for 12 months?....In short, it's INCREDIBLE, but almost impossible to describe to people.
I travelled with only carry on luggage and went to 24 countries across 4 continents. The lengths of my stays in a country ranged anywhere from 3 days to 6 weeks.
I only had a basic idea of where i wanted to visit on my backpacking trip around the world so most of the route was made up completely on the fly.
I stayed in hostel dorms 95% of the time and ate a combination of local and European/American food. I could definitely have done things cheaper, and of course more expensive, but I had found a happy medium that worked well for me without blowing my budget too early.
Everytime i watch this video back, it gives me incredibly itchy feet to get back on the road and travel some more. .......Watch this space ;)

@ OK, so if you mean the planning of the actual journey itself....all I had booked was a one way flight to Peru, my first few nights accommodation and a group trip of the inca trail and Machu Picchu (as it needed booking months in advance). I made up the rest of my itinerary along the way but I had a rough idea of the countries I wanted to visit. I would usually book flights a few weeks in advance and hostels a day or 2 before.

I was able to get my old job back, yes. No, nothings changed in that sense really.
