Taking a Pattern from an Extant Garment - Sports Corselet is Back!

In this demo I show a couple of ways to take a pattern off of an existing garment, with tips, tricks, and ramblings along the way.
A couple notes: this is assuming a garment that you own, and that is a study piece or isn't "precious." If you're planning to take patterns from garments in historical collections that are not your own, you should confer with the curator about the methods they would prefer. For highly valuable, rare, and fragile garments, a system of measuring and re-drafting is the most low-impact option.

I actually prefer videos that aren’t perfectly produced... so this is amazing!!!! Please don’t stress yourself out by trying to overproduce... most you tubers that are able to do that have an editing team and stuff like that, or KZbin is their only job... ( not that it’s not hard, it is!! ) But juggeling KZbin and a fulltime business is harder!!

To me it looks like the straight of grain on the main piece is parallell with the bones?

Might this corset have been intended to go over another structured or boned undergarment? That might explain the short busk. The late Victorian and Edwardian silhouettes had quite low bust lines. Corsets with low bust lines were probably not great for women with larger assets. They would have needed another garment for additional control.

No, these were intended to be the structured/boned undergarment worn form sport etc.
