I don't keep either of those species and haven't done any research about either of them, so unfortunately, you'll have to do some research and see what you can find about their care.

Nice tour. Realy beatiful. I have two questions. 1. I think about trying a new setup with sponge substrate. Can you recommend that in therms of long term use? Which ppi? 20 and 10 underneath? 2. The water feature. I would like to have a water feature, but i'm not sure if it works after 2 ore 3 years. If the plants are fully grown and i have to rip everything out to reach the pump...i would be very unhappy.

That is definitely one of the risks of a water feature, if you check out troys build videos and then come back and see them in this video... it definitely works. I believe he just used 20ppi

In tanks with the sponge mat bottom, do you still add a substrate barrier/substrate and a clean up crew? Or do you just put the leaf litter right on top of the sponge and forgo planting on the "forest floor"?

Troy does straight leaf litter on top of it. I typically put some substrate on top of it because I would like to be adding plants into the substrate that are heavier root feeders.

That room is bomb and the terrascaping (esp the moss) is amazeballs! Unless they fairly recently hybridized African Violets to remain “mini” those may actually be a form of Sinningia; same family, growing habit & ease of cultivation. My experience is all AVs sold as “minis” are just new plants that’ll grow to regular size over time. I recently heard Oak leaves (from trees -not Pumilia aka; creeping fig var) can be toxic to animals & fish when used as leaf litter. I haven’t had any experience so I can’t speak on that. If it’s true I wonder if acorns & Oak bark/wood contains the same harmful compound(?) Whoa, only a good friend would be trusted (& voluntarily) help clean someone else’s enclosures, do you do windows...? 😂

Ah that is good to know! Thanks for chiming in. hahah Troy is one of my best friends, I think he trusts us enough to clean some glass. He mentioned it takes him like 2.5 hours to do it, it took the 3 of us, 30 mins haha

It does flower, in one of the vivariums you can see it, purple flower. Not sure what species or anything though.

Absolutely gorgeous enclosures! What is the best method for getting moss to actually grow and spread? This is an open question for anyone. I've got multiple bioactive, high humidity enclosures but I can NOT get moss to flourish and I'm pretty consistently replacing it because it does off. All other plants do very well, but not the moss and I can't figure it out

The moss has to be continuously wet at the beginning. Like if you let it dry out for more than a day (or less sometimes) it wont grow.

I know this problem. In my opinion there are only two factors. Light and water. Enough light is important, but i noticed, that my moss started to grow immediately after changing the misting pump. The lucky reptile super rain nano hasn't have enough power. The new one produces much better misty rain with very fine drops, that reach every corner of the tank. Also i switched the rain intervalls to every 2,5 hrs. So the moos has no chance to get dry.

There aren't really any places that sell the commercially, but you can look for specialist places near you, like other hobbyists that could build it for you. Alternatively, they are fairly easy to build yourself :)

Its not completely untrue and if it gets more views so we can have more great content it's all good.
