Hey fam! So I definitely ugly cried after this was over. So so heavy but I hope you understand that you are not alone. It’s ok to not be okay right now. Thank you Josh for editing and producing this piece. I particularly LOVE the montage at the end. And of course, husbae Devale for coaching me through and being my literal shoulder to cry on. Let’s do better y’all. Let continue to spread the word, educate ourselves, groom our children to be in positions to make actual change and pray for this world. Love & light💕 -Kay✨

Its ok Kay to cry. Crying is cleansing. I am glad you mention the black women are also victim of white police. I am reading a book by Paul Butler a former prosecutor. The name of the book is Chokehold. In his book he tells you black women are the most likely victims of police. Sexually assault is the most common. The things that are happen is so heavy. Keep using your platform.

Thank you for acknowledging this. Anyone with a platform is expected to immediately react and say anything. My platform is also compared to that of my husband's (understandably) because we create a lot of content together. But ultimately, I'm an individual and I process things differently. My due time, I will decide how I'd like to use my arena. Social activism is also not the only form of activism and not every move needs to be broadcasted. Appreciate you sis! Be well.

Kay I am so proud to see and witness this generation, transparency is a must. Thank you for this video. I am 72 years old and watch your family faithfully. I marched in the protest back in the 60's and we started the movement, but this generation will be the game changers and I thank God that I am still here to witness it. this movement is different, this is worldwide and there will be change. God allows things to happen and if we listen there is a message that He is sending, Let My People Go is as true today as it was in the time of Moses. A CHANGE IS GONNA COME, Sam Cooke was so right. Love and Prayers for all of our family. Stay strong and stay prayed up

I’ve seen people in general say let kids be kids and that kids that aren’t teenagers are too young to be having the talk with... but I’m guessing they haven’t seen that even our little boys are being killed. Kids are very smart. I have a son and you’re totally right that priorities and concerns change once you become a parent. I love y’all together lol. It was like y’all were created for each other. I don't think there is any black person in America (despite the very few) that hasn't been personally affected by this. I grew up with a lot of white people and also have a lot of white friends who are now realizing our struggle. I used to find it hard to express our pain to them because I thought they wouldn't understand which they didn't until now. I feel so connected to my people at this point because we are all hurt and this doesn't surprise us, but it does hurt us in a different way from others. Sending love and blessings to all.

Thank you for sharing how we feel as African American women who love our husbands, sons, nephews, uncles and female relatives. You have articulated the very fears and emotions that weigh heavy on us daily. My mom shared with me the same dread my great grandmother shared in the early 1900’s when her son didn’t come home one evening. He had told her that he was going to attend a barn party. My great-grandma was told that the barn party ended in a horrific fire when doors were locked from the outside because it was discovered that the party was supposed to be integrated. Luckily, he had changed his mind and hadn’t gone. I don’t know that Mississippi recorded the names of the black men that died in that fire.

When Jackson broke down crying during your talk I was outdone. I admittedly carried that grief for a few days because I don't remember either of my parents having that kind of conversation with me or my sister(s) [our youngest sister was raised elsewhere so I'm not sure if she had that convo with her own mom but our dad didn't have that with her either]. I think they thought because we were girls, they could skip some of those talks though given some moments between my mom & dad that involved the police (my dad was a different [already hurt] person afterward), I wish they had. I was absolutely shielded & my wider family declined to discuss certain things until I was much older & then it was in passing, never direct. I don't agree with their decisions though I'm not looking forward to that time when my future sons & daughters are older. I believe in being as honest as we can while making room for their childhoods as much as we can. But pretending that things aren't happening that harm us? No.

My him curates music for me, especially jazz as he knows how much I love classic silver age jazz & I took an interest in fitness & now curate black healing opportunities for him. We both fell into the trap of division when we were younger & we're being intentional about soothing now. He checks me when I'm watching things that aren't supporting my mindset/mental health & I check him when he's assuming the worst. This is leaps & bounds beyond how we handled the outside stress of 2016. I once confided that maybe God doesn't need me to understand all men (I don't & I won't), but just the particular man He placed in my life.

😪So heartbreaking! I just watched a beautiful 5 year old girl with her South African mother on nightly news here in NYC. She had the courage to go out there to protest against this senseless killings. Her mother brought to tears, cause she fought apartheid, never thought her biracial child would be going through this. I was balling cause she said when she grows up, she hopes the cops don't kill her. As a mother of a son & daughter, it's heart wrenching to deal with this. Stay strong for your lovely husband & boys. 🗽Brooklyn Love🖤💙❤

All are somebodys baby, loved by someone, and needed, cant want them to hold you up and watch or help tear her down. Shes destroyed so is he, GOD-DESS should always be brothes & Kings priority starting with ensuring her peace of home, mind & health. You all are a beautiful addition to our lives and recording ourstory and future generations, todays young to elders will benefit. THANKS SO MUCH, ohio

As a mother to one whole black young man and knowing the way things are going concerning them, I've watched this video and had to stop to cry numerous times, look at my now 17yr old son and pray over him as well as his dad (my husband) and ask God for guidance on how to move forward to make a change and create a better world for my son when the time comes for him to have children of his own. Love you K, you are a big inspiration

Khadeen I love you. I have two boys with one on the way and tell my husband all the time I am giving him three whole boys. It is sooo hard. I look at my boys and get tearful and try to fight it. I even look at little white boys who play with my 4 yo and just wonder how they are raised at home and hope they are raised to see everyone as equal human beings. It sucks to wonder about these things.

Thank you for your transparency with us, Kay. I cried watching this because I felt your fears, anger, and the love you have for Devale and your boys. These are trying times we are living in and I think black folks are living with PTSD, so take the time you need, turn off the tv, get off social media; and love on your men extra hard. I laughed when you talked about fixing Devale's plate because I grew up in a Jamaican household watching my mom and aunties do that for their husbands. I hated it then but I grew to understand that is one way to honor your man. The world may not value him, love him, or show him respect, but when he walks in that door we need to do all we can show love. Your grandma taught you well. Keep your head up and know that you are a queen and you are loved!!!

One thing that stands out is when you mentioned that nothing our ranked you being a mother ,wife and husband and father .... That spoke volumes to me and I'm not a mother or a wife but I believe that is the reason why God will sustain you in this time in you all life. This is beautiful that you have all figured out a balance to let your kids be kids and you guys remaining a family unit. You guys are most definitely #familygoals but it's because you guys are a gorgeous group of people (which you are😁) but because you guys are transparent and honest and that is what makes you guys a goal. I'm done before I start to cry 🥺🥺

Excellent exploratory segment Kadeem. What I can relate to and attest to is, your Natural reaction to worry. From experience and after single handedly (with help from God and Family) raising two sons in L.A. in the 90's during the height of Gangs, drugs and Police brutality, I am BLESSED! My sons survived. Now Parents themselves of sons and daughters they now understand my hoovering and worrying. This with always acknowledging first God and truly understanding that though I was the chosen vessel to navigate them into this life, the fact that I was solely responsible for the nurturing and every aspect of their lives, they never belonged to me. They are gifts LOANED to me for just a while. Both are 45 & 40 years old and after 9 Grands I am GRATEFUL! for LIFE. God's Amazing Grace. Keep the love, continuity and honesty flowing. You are so blessed to have your husband, their Father and your family. We had family, and that unit was that founding and added blessing that helped shape them to be two of the strongest galant men that I know. We need STRONG MOTHERS like yourself to forge ahead. God Bless you and your beautiful family always. OUR LIVES MATTER!!

😥My heart is so very full at this moment. This was tough to watch, but so necessary. Although I have not been fortunate enough to have a family of my own yet, I have strong black brothers, nephews, cousins, a god-son, friends, former and current students that I call my sons that I feel exactly the same way about. What a painful time we are existing in. Only God can help us, because for me, it is Him alone where I obtain the strength, and wisdom to maneuver through this life, and do my very best to impart that very same space of safety, hope, comfort, peace, and TLC, where they know without a doubt that they are APPRECIATED, VALUED AND MORE THAN ANYTHING LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY BEYOND MEASURE. So I just truly want to say, thank you Khadeen and Devale for honestly sharing your heart and your story with us. May God cover you and your precious family always, and shield you all from every snare, trick and trap of the enemy. LOVE IS LOVE 🙏😔❤

today I sat in my car in my uniform (military) and I opened a video of a police officer pointing a gun at a group of like 5 or 6 between 13-16 teens that didn't do anything but and I broke down for another time. This is the hardest thing that is on my mental, on top of everything else that could go wrong. im exhausted

From a Mom of 3 black sons Kay-Kay, thank you so very much. I shared my tears 😭 with you because I truly understand everything you said. I would give my life for my sons. Everyday, & all day I find myself constantly praying for our sons and it gets very emotional and some times overwhelming for me to handle all that which is taking place right now; but as you’ve stated, my husband and I are here for our sons even with them being young black adults, we got you all and all I want, is for them to be safe. Well done job my sister Kay-Kay. 💕💕💕✊🏽✌🏽✊🏽

Amazing. My son was was stopped by police a number of times and put on the ground and treated disrespectfully. He’s a musician and has had a chance to travel the world. He was called back to Japan numerous times and ended up living there. I have at times thanked God he’s there because while gigging here at home violence erupted in clubs he performed. My point in saying these things is that his father and I was relieved when he left the states. No where is there a guarantee for his safety but we felt relief when he left the states.

Black men u are loved, appreciated, treasured and are ur our future...
