"When you're out of shape, the type II fun begins much sooner." I think I need that on a teeshirt.

Another fantastic adventure. I'm not bold enough to go that far into the back country so it's really great living vicariously through you.

This was awesome! What a great trip for you and your brother. Your JMT video is one of my favorites and I’m glad to see you guys hiking together again. Type 2 fun is great family bonding! I got to spend 5 days in the Eastern Sierra with my son this summer during his first backpacking trip. It was challenging (altitude and duration) but an unforgettable experience.

Awesome! It’s definitely great bonding and a way to build shared memories (and even more fun when both people recall the event differently)

I wish I had the time to plan some off trail adventures. Work is just always in the way.

I recently found your channel and I must say I’m obsessed. I am loving your videos. Just wanted to let you know that I’m loving them, and I’ve obsessively watched your sierra high route video! In a few weeks, I will be back packing for the first time in the Ansel Adams wilderness. Nervous about the elevation and altitude as I am a flatlander from Michigan and most of my hiking has been on the Appalachian Trail. Just wanted to say thanks for your content!

Thank you both for taking us along. "off the couch", doing miles and elevation - my hat´s off to you both. Wonderful views and scenery - just great! 👍

I like the emphasis of major points of your videography. Others flap gums about gear or tactical verbiage or even worse their ultimate quest of some crap of enlightenment or "finding" themselves.

The areas look beautiful and undisturbed over many years because people stay on trail. If everyone stayed off trail it would not look as beautiful as it does today. Not to mention if you ever get injured it would be hard to find you off trail .

I know! Our trip was short so it seemed like a greater part of our trip. Fairly expected in August in the Sierra though

Thank you for posting this wonderful video! Can I, by any chance, repost your channel on the Gan Jing World platform? Of course I will keep everything as is and also include your channel as source.

Came across your video researching the Durston Kakwa 40. Love your stuff! Would you still go 40 over the newer 55? Coming from car camping & bushcrafting to backpacking so I would like to lighten my heavy gear!

If you stay disciplined, the 55 gives you more flexibility with minimal weight difference. It should be a bit easier to use with a bear can if you backpack in places that require it.

What app was that at the 37m mark that showed all the peaks? Or was that a post production edit?

Hey Hiking Nerd, i know that you've used the flex capacitor a ton. I was wondering, after a lot of use does the internal frame poke through the top near the shoulder straps? I felt like it was pressing super hard on the fabric and I got a bit concerned. Please lmk what you've experienced after heavy use. I know the fabric is reinforced there on the inside.

What is type 2 fun?
@Case16710
@Case16710 2 жыл бұрын
Type 1 fun is plain fun. It’s fun while you’re doing it and fun when you look back at it later. Type 2 fun kinda sucks while it’s happening. It’s hard and miserable while you’re doing it, but fun in retrospect and you’d do it again. Type 3 fun is outright dangerous and scary while it’s happening. Typically something has gone terribly wrong and there’s a good chance you may not make it home. You wouldn’t ever want to do it again. But it makes for a good story later on.
