No one talks about it but Hispanic moms traumatized every child to swim seriously.. I remember I saw a pool for the first time and the first thing my mom, aunts grandma and their friends said was “no because you’re going to drown” and insert this huge trauma on our brains.. most of my life I feared pools even tho I’ve never been on one bc I thought i would drown.. I would even tell my friends and cousins to not go on a pool or lake or anything water related bc they were going to drown… I had my daughter and my husbands parents had a pool, I would get so much anxiety and tell my daughter to not get near it bc she’s going to drown..: so she grew up with a fear too and my husband told me why I’m traumatizing the kids with our own traumas that never even occurred to us.. I’m now 36 and I just started taking swimming classes a few weeks ago and I can’t believe how much I love it and how much I’ve missed!! I missed going to the lakes with friends and pool parties etc! But regardless yes drowning accidents still occur especially on children, keep an eye on them, send them to swimming classes young but please don’t insert that fear on them just like my grandma did it on my mom, my mom on me and me on my daughter and even my daughter telling her dad that he’s going to drown🥹

You should try signing up at the public park pools they are free all year round and you learn much better and faster specially in one day u learn a lot n u learn the basics first to introduce u into the water its more detailed and begginer friendly they have up to 4 levels in a week u will have learn so much

I was a competitive swimmer for 10 years. For practice I would always use a latex cap. I like them more then silicon they’re a little less tight and cheaper. And honestly they’re the same thing, you’re just using it for swim class not competition. Also do a bun and have the instructor help you out your cap on. You’ll hold it on your forehead and they’ll flip it on for you it makes it so much easier.

Omg same sis im a grown ass adult and cant swim my parents never learned so i guess they had fear of us drowning. I came close to it in 2 occasions and just have had a fear i never go in the water now even when on vacay its so sad. I tried to conquer my fears by snorkeling last year and it was scary ngl but i attempted at least but couldnt get anywhere especially since idk how to float it was a struggle. I learned how to swim in the ocean with my dad when I was 7. I’m enrolling my two year old son in swimming lessons this summer as well as my fourteen year old sister. Traditions have changed. Congrats elsy! The instructor said she gets 4/5 adults a year , which is insane ! $lupitaxo2
