WOW! Great share. And you lived to tell the tale! Nice.

Portabote should get you onboard for product testing if they ever release a new model. It's a fine line between wild adventure and a bad day out when the swell picks up! Stay safe and keep up the vids.

Haha, thanks for the support!

Dude you need to get a 10 or 15hp 2 stroke on there. They weight 50-60lbs, which is fine on that transom, still get 10mpg, and you'll have the power you need to get through the currents and chop

I enjoy your videos! Why did you not purchase the 14’ model? Keep up the great work!
@OffTheHookFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! I didn't take length too much into consideration bc I bought used, but I find the 12 ft is perfect. The 14ft is harder and more cumbersome when I'm solo. I imagine the 14ft is even more seaworthy though

I was debating on going out with my 13ft valco but now I’m not to sure lol. Have you launched out of pillar point ?
@OffTheHookFishing2 жыл бұрын
I typically go out of half moon. You'll be fine if the wind is less than 10 mph. Mornings are best there!

@@OffTheHookFishing can we go straight out once exiting the “marina” ? I’ve watched videos where you got to hug the rocks on the way out and go south to the bouys and then you can cut out
@OffTheHookFishing2 жыл бұрын
@@Elcompaserg13 when you exit the marina, head directly south and go around the green bouy before headed west. There is a shallow reef directly south of the north jetty that you need to avoid.

What size outboard are you using? I just picked up a 10hp for mine. Asking because it looked like your engine was struggling to take you very quickly.
@OffTheHookFishing2 жыл бұрын
5 hp. Its plenty, just gotta take it slow. A 10hp is too heavy for the 12 footer and I feel that 5/6 is the max that you can realistically handle in the ocean. Most of my 'sketchy' moments have been when I'm surfing a wave too fast and lose stability.

The biggest porto bote they make is the 14 foot. But even with their biggest boat, the engine has a maximum weight recommendation of 56 pounds, which makes it a 6 horsepower engine limit.

Too bad he doesn’t mention the porto bote size and brand of and horsepower of the outboard engine

I have a 11ft inflatable now with a 15hp Suzuki. Have not had the courage to cross yet. I've met you on half moon fishing for rock fish before. You have balls Lol
@OffTheHookFishing2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha. I wouldn't risk it, but definitely a memorable adventure. Thanks for the support! You get out in half moon this season? Been a slow rockfish year for me, just a handful so far.
@brennanferguson3537 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd do this in my 11' avon with a 25hp johnson 100 times before id do it in my 12' portabote.
@gzhou103 Жыл бұрын
you are crazy. I took my 17 foot boston whaler there and it was rough for me. I would not do it on a porta bote with 2.5hp engine. .
@OffTheHookFishing Жыл бұрын
I would not do it again... probably
