Ustaad Sajid. This clip is on point Alhumdulillah. All I would say is - keep up the calm and methodical approach. Plus, don’t take the bait. Sometimes a response is required and beneficial for them and for us. Sometimes it may be better to just ignore them. All I’m saying is don’t ever let those people dictate the way you spend time (even indirectly). That said - I am glad someone is telling these brothers what the score is. Al-Barbahārī said, "To set up trials in Islām is an Innovation. As for today, people should be tested for the Sunnah, because of his saying, "This is the knowledge of the religion, so look from whom you take your religion..." (Sharḥ al-Sunnah, no. 152, and the latter part of the narration is that of Muhammad bin Sīrīn, the Tābiʿī). Aḥmad bin Zahīr said, "I heard Aḥmad binʿ Abd Allāh bin Yūnus say: Test the people of Mawṣul with Muʿāfī bin ʿImrān. If they love him, then they are Ahl al-Sunnah, and if they hate him, then they are Ahl al-Bidʿah - just as the people of Kūfah are to be tested by Yaḥyā." (al-Lālikāʾī 1/66).

The 'extreme in religion' in terms of exaggerating relates to attaching divinity towards individuals, by the likes of the Christians, grave worshipping shiites, heretic sufis etc, those who attach servitude to creations that which is due to Allaah alone. Take for example what has been included in 'Kitab-ut-Tawhid'. The other extreme that has been reported from the sunnah is that of the kharijites, those who are harsh on people due to sins and are quick to label others as outright 'disbelievers' due to actions that do not constitute disbelief. The methodology of testing people with known upright individuals- not as a general rule but as a means of clarity when there's a necessity, without attaching divinity of any kind- is a matter that is completely different in context and is from the methodology of the salaf as has been authentically reported in every book of usool and manhaj. It doesn't fall into the category of extreme exaggeration but in the category of gheerah/protective jealousy for the deen and preserving authentic scholarship, books of sunaan are filled with examples to this effect. No one considers SPUBS or TROID or the salafi mashaykh let alone any particular student of knowledge to be infallible, not even their staunchest supporter, I challenge you to bring one example to prove it otherwise. The analogy you've made in this video is unfair and false. I advise you to fear Allaah and be just.

I'm a convert as well, and some of your videos have stood out to me as something that would've made me start thinking that Islam might be true before I converted. I was thinking "what if there are others who are not yet Muslim who are similar to me in that regard?", and I thought maybe if they're similar to me they might be hanging out in the same types of places I used to. I'd like to ask if you would be okay with me sharing your videos with non-Muslims on various sites? I'm asking permission because on these sites non-Muslims are just really depraved of morals and will say and do the worst things imaginable, many are very opposed to Islam, so I worry if I do share your videos they would attack you. These are sites like 4chan and tumblr (they seem like polar opposites but I feel the mentality of the people on these websites are similar but just take opposing manifestations politically).

the word "Salaf" was used by the PROPHET (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) himself. He said to Faatimah, "How excellent a Salaf I am for you." (Muslim, no. 2450). Just know that Sunni, Salafi, Ahul 'ilm, Ta'ifatul Mansoora are all representing the same people. We need be careful in speaking on matters we have no knowledge off brothers and sisters. You have mis understood me, I am talking to those people who say the word was not used before and yes you are correct in saying it was used as a title and not a group. I do not believe it is a necessity to use this word in these times and it is was it meant by it that is important. If you say I am a salafi and mean by it I am following the Prophet, companions etc then this is fine. If you use the word salafi to mean my group and my group exclusively and we test people with others and your not a salafi if you do not agree then this i incorrect. Sheikh Uthaymeen explained it perfectly that it is not a requirement. My point is the term has been used before and there is nothing wrong with it if your intention is sincere for Allah to follow the righteous first three generations. @@Alex21441 Hello Brother, just want to add something. the word was used before in a different context, its just mean "predecessor" in arabic. Never been in the history of the prophet SAW it refers to a "saved" group/sect as it is now. Following the Quran, the prophet and his companion is just a general definition of a muslim. when you say you're a muslim, people automatically know that you are following the quran, the prophet and the companion. Unless you put additional label, such as "quranist", to differentiate you to some sort of a sect. If you don't, then calling yourself a muslim is more than enough. The term "salafi" becomes an obligation since Shaykh Nasrudin Albani said that we should call ourselves salafi to differentiate from the others so called "ahlul bid'a". I have never said you have to call yourself Salafi and as you have said, it is to distinguish yourself from other groups, it is a title not a GROUP my brother, there is a difference. However there are people who have made it into a group and Sheikh Uthaymeen had mentioned this in a video on youtube when he noticed people going to extremes with this title and instead of saying they followed the way of the salaf (early righteous muslims) they called themselves salafees making it into a group. We have to be completely fair my brother and if one prefers to use Muslim then that is fine, as I call myself 'Muslim'. This conversation is not worth replying back and fourth about my brother, baarak Allahu feek and may Allah rectify the condition of the Muslims and may us from those who are pleasing to Him subhanahu wa ta ala.

But you can also say "I'm a traditionalist" or say "I'm using imam ahmad bin hanbal (hanabilah) literalist approach to understand the Quran and Sunnah" instead of Salafi. Because Salafi manhaj is actually (or exactly) just that. They are the same. (*Except for the aqeeda issues ofcourse, they have their own understanding in this matter*) But one thing that you should remember brother : the manhaj that you are using and the people that you are following are not infallible. And once you realise their flaws in understanding Islam, you will find how unnecessary it is to associate yourself to this term "Salafi" in any ways. The ummah as a whole as well within sub communities suffer from where true beneficial knowledge from the haq of the deen is not available for lack of those learned from the native people who know first hand the inherent intricacies of their community . Alhamduliilah afforded are the opportunities to those who in change sacrifice at great lengths of their lives away from all and who they know and go in the pursuit of knowledge of the deen to go back following completion to where they came to benefit the people by which they were benefited . Like that of those from a distant village with no access to quality healthcare by qualified physicians. A native from the village goes off becomes qualified in the sciences need to aid his people’s ills , then return. Can you image some from the people suffering now come to question what university did their now hometown Doctor attended and from whom were his professors they took from and learned , what are their thoughts of other doctors , did they belong to particular fraternity while studying , who were their contemporaries and peers they associated with and if any answer does not fall in line with the questioners pleasing. The now returned from years of sacrifice and study to qualification becomes suspect at best at the behest of those with little if any knowledge, nothing less than tasteless and baseless morsels Insufficient to satisfy qualifying as a meal to feed the people . Let alone help the people be it their physical or spiritual health and well being . Discrediting these doctors or pre as well post doctorate graduates not for any mis or malpractice. But for it has become the practice for too long going back two decades pointing away from qualified graduates of esteemed higher schools of knowledge . What physician refers back to his collegiate and university professors years post graduate lest it be for consultation . Yet every Ustadh, Alim, Da’ee and Talibul ‘ilm for all the love appreciation and gratitude for the kibaar ulamah must name drop for every finger waving ,recognition craving , speaking in false accents hand gesturing foreign to who they are , no more than trolls cheerleading those they wish to champion. Wearing the team jersey and knowing the roster and team stats does not make you a member of the team no more you are than a cheerleader on the sideline yelling in the direction of the “players” participating on the field of play in the game you are not in but just a distraction from the action that is taking place , yelling and waving your hands in the people’s face. You are not a part of the game but apart from it . You are of no merit to those you are starkly different but align to and do no discredit to those you are indifferent to . May Allah truly guide you and us all ,preserve the kibaar of the ulamah and steadfast upon Khair those from the upcoming ranks pre and post graduates be they our ulama of tomorrow.calling us not to themselves but the kitaabullah , the sunnah of Rasullah alaihu salawaatubwas salaam upon the understanding of those who followed in obedience goodness . asalamu alaikum SubhannAllah (All glory is for Allah) "spubs" these guys u speak of are nothing like the salaf as salih (pious predecessors). The salaf as salih made "kufr in taghut" (rejection of the taghut) they didn't climb into bed with it. Ive personally witnessed their harshness to those whom they consider there brothers in deen (be it upon forms of "bidda'h" [inovation] according to them). Yet they are soft with kuffar (disbelievers). Their "al wala wal baraa" (the loyalty and the disacotiation) is back to front. Most of the people today are astray in some form by "nawaqdul isalm" (nullifier of islam). Allah az wa jal clearly says in the Qur'an "most of those will believe not in Allah except that they attribute equals to Him" One of the biggest forms is lack of knowledge of "aslu deen" (fundament of deen) which is laa ilāha illaAllah muhammadur rasulullah salAllahu alaihi wasalam (There is absolutely nothing worthy of being worshipped, except Allah).which has 2 pillars. 1. "Imanu billah" (belief in Allah). 2. "Al kufr bit taghut" (to reject/disbelieve in the taghut) Most people do not know the requirements of al kufr bit taghut wa imanu billah. They are ignorant of this and to be ignorant of this!! Let's just say it's not good as Allah says "know, laa ilāha illaAllah". Knowledge is one of the conditions for ones "shahada" (islamic testification) to be complete. so if one doesn't have knowledge of the shahada do the math. May Allah guide us all ameen "Milatu Ibrahim"(the religion of Abraham) alaihis salatu wasalam. More than 7 times in the Qur'an we are ordered to follow "Milatu Ibrahim" and Allah az wa jal tells us an excellent example was Abraham alaihi salatu wasalam. The "Daleel" (proof). Al Qur'an Surah Mumtahina Ayat 4. This ayat is Allah az wa jal giving His own Tafsir (explination) of "al kufr bit taghut wa imanu billah". Which is also told by Allah az wa jal to be the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it (laa ilaha illaAllah) in surah al Baqara ayat 256. Ive called many to this over the years and "spubs" lot call us extreme. SubhannAllah extreme for calling to that which every messenger alaihis salatu wasalam called to. Daleel Al Qur'an surah an nahl ayat 36. The prophet salAllahu alaihi wasalam taught tauheed/aqeedah for the first 13 years of his mission and also for the rest of the 10 when the full sharia was reavelad. The sad thing is many have followed the footsteps of "al yahood wa al nasara" (the Jews and christians). Just as the prophet salAllahu alaihi wasalam said people would span by span until they will follow them into a lizard hole. They wanna ask themselves are they in the Lizard hole yet?? True indeed. I remember I was at TROID Islamic center, buying some cassettes about Islam when I was a relatively new Muslim. I asked the brother if they carried Hamza Yusuf and I swear I never experienced a level of negativity so staunch as when I asked that question. They lectured me for an hour as to why Hamza Yusuf was no good. Needless to say, I never returned to that center again...too much hatred of others who dont conform to their ideology
