Extremely informative interview... He speaks so passionately about his constituents / customers... no one would believe he is the head of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate. I'm however hoping that Wysinco can reduce their imports for the next 6 months and push domestic production so as to save foreign exchange and go for greater market share.

Before we open our borders I think the manufactures and producers need to get the opportunity to get there goods and services used up locally first before we start back importation of goods. Business needs to adopt a new way of people buying their goods online or do call in order. We need to diversify our US dollar earnings. We too dependant on Tourism and Remittance as a major source to earn the US dollar.

Open the economy with added precautions. Start with minimal staff and gradually increase as we get more comfortable. COVID will be our new normal for quite a while. Accept it and be responsible.

Its heartbreaking that there is no confidence in Jamaica and the Jamaican economy. Mahfood has his two daughters working and living abroad, even though he owns one of the biggest jamaican company. WOW. Love the show though kalihah please keep it up. Cause who can run will run but what about those who cant they will have to stay and watch money mondays.

Some of these same people in the diaspora get to big positions overseas that may help the country to make certain advancement. For e.g. after Bruce Golding Gov messed up the IMF Programme, the Admin that followed couldn’t get audience with Washington. They, in Washington, were waiting on us to fail because we were on the brink of collapse. It was a Jamaican in Congress who helped us out and the PSM admin to start the process of getting the economy on track. You have Lee-Chin who took NCB off of the GoJ hands back in the day and that is now the largest financial group from the region. How do you think some of these Jamaican companies make connections overseas? Come man patch up you broken heart.

@@sizzlacalunji that is true in some regards as there is truth in everything. But answer this question. If America or England was to give every Jamaican a stay visa and a one way ticket to thier country, how many would still remain in Jamaica? That is the faith I am talking. The grass always seem greener no matter how you look at it, that is why most don't return. Most people dont invest. There are those who leave and remember yard though so big up western union and kamala, bay things she a gwan wid. But yuh memba how are fada did gwan. Know u feel me. Together we stand divided we fall.

xeex tv xeex tv re your question if that happened re visa, we would ah really see brain drain. No two ways bout dat. Today’s reasons are more diverse, I believe, for I have seen well established people leave, for reasons outside of the “greener grass”. We have work to do but agree with you 100%.

SO when the US economy is booming our Jmd falls and when the US economy is falling the Jamaican dollar sinks. I really don't understand the trend. i think Jamaicans and Jamaican businesses especially the financial institutes of Jamaica rely on the depreciation of the Jamaican dollar to make bigger profits. A growing country can in no way trade against its own currency and expects to grow economically.

It's mainly bc in the good times we get to spoil to buy local as we buy from the US stores eg. Amazon, eBay especially with the explosion of couriers. In hard times, tourism dollars are not flowing, so there is still a negative outflow of JA$ for US.
@KG-bc4wx4 жыл бұрын
@@staminadaddy yes but as far as i know when people shop online they buying usd. And that cause inflation of the jmd currency..so how when there is a negative demand as people not buying amd seeking USD its staining gaining against the jmd.
@christanomeredith14974 жыл бұрын
@@KG-bc4wx buying online doesn't cause the dollar to inflate. It increases the demand for the USD. More people chasing less increases the cost. If u have one iphone selling and 10 ppl want it they going to outbid each other and the highest bigger gets the phone. It's the same with fx. Also the jmd is sinking because there is no USD available. Tourism closed, remittance down etc. Again, demand and supply is back ppl want USD none is available people are trying to outbid each other to endure they get the small supply which available

In truth, over last twenty years I have earned more from Scotiabank dividends tan I have from Scotiabank Savings account. Unless banks start paying interest at a proper level to savers, then we need our dividends

I wish we would understand what we are dealing the biggest problem in jamaica is the people we don't follow laws or protocols so we will always have the issue of the virus going up plus we haven't even started to see impact on lives as yet after the number climb the death will start also so open or close the economy we will still have the virus what we need are stricker security measures for people then we can think about a full opening of economy

Would you rather not getting a dividend or not being able to get your money in the bank? Watch last week's episode with Richard Byles. Even though it's just a precaution at this phase, I think it was a wise decision to protect depositors

Where is the money going to come from to pay back a US $500million IMF loan in Jamaica...or will it ever get paid back, I honestly would love to know SMDH
@moneymediaja4 жыл бұрын
Where it always comes from - taxpayers. But watch the interview with the IMF rep, Karim Youssef, two weeks ago. He said the interest rate on this loan is extremely low - less than 1%

How about asking; how would you rate the performance of the government instead of asking how would you rate the performance of the government, do you think they are doing a good job. That skews the response . Great interview !
