Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

LOL, l love your dads farmers ingenuity to keep the generater running. It may not have been enough to keep the battery charged but, enough to keep the generator running.

I truely enjoy a tractor parade. I've taken up to six to our local parade and had sons and grandsons drive. Now they are grown up and have other priorities. Your kids will grow up and keep that 4020 in the local parades.

Hello Nathan, here in France, JD had just bought Lanz in Germany (the hot-ball single cylinders had become old clinkers irons!). the 3020 and 4020 were imported with a technological edge that other European brands did not have.We stayed with mechanical gearboxes for a long time (15 years). But differential locks were an option with you, and hydraulic linkages were too weak for our fully-assembled hitches. So we already had the indispensable 75hp mechanical 4-wheel drive, and JD tried the all-hydraulic adventure and didn't convince here. The one that began to spread was the 4240S 4wd .🚜🚜

Yep, that's Waldron. My parents owned the old apartment house behind the general store on the main four corners in the early 70's. I've been to more than one marathon women's softball church tournament. I grew up in Hudson.

😢I served on the Executive Board of FFA a number of years ago…The CEO of John Deere was also a member…..When asked if there was a certain tractor that was a significant disappointment for JD…He quickly answered that is was the 4020!! When asked why….he said “they lasted Too Long!!”

Ever since I saw a long wide driveway with a perfect slight concave in the center that emptied out to the street, I've always wanted to pour a big drive that collects and channels the water into a cool water feature. If only I had the opportunity, skill and budget to create something truly regrettable.

I've been thinking about your high input fields. Kudos for trying stuff. I've always found redundancy is the tough one to evaluate. Genetics, establishment, weather, they change every year.

You going to drill into existing concrete, glue in and insert rebar so there is a tie-in for the existing to the new? Wonder if over time the existing and new will become uneven due to not having tie-in going across the two? Anna looks like her mom when mom got married. Why you so much taller than everyone else?
