If you watch the movie "Carrie" (1976) That's what all teenagers in the 1970s looked like ! Post-Brady Bunch , pre- Halloween (1978) . Brady Bunch was 1969-1974. EVERYTHING CHANGED in 1980-1983. I mean EVERYTHING. And the clothes did not get better and the hair-dos were YUK. Always cropping AROUND the ears. Like "Hey guys! Here are MY EARS ! LOOK AT THEM !!!!" Hope people had little ears in the 1980s ...OR ELSE...

Hi Jeannie, I'm a 32 year old man in Canada. I recently lost my mom, who grew up in California in the 60s. In her last years she had neurological decline, so she lived in the past a lot. But she always had the same kind of funny deprecating comments about the foibles of that time that you do. I just found your videos and they help me think about her in a way that isn't so sad. Thank you!

In the early-mid seventies, my 5 siblings and I often bugged our parents to get a dishwasher. My Dad's standard reply to that plea was, "Why? I've got SIX dishwashers...we don't need another one." Love your magazine videos Jeannie...keep them coming. I enjoy your ASMR voice...thank you. From near Niagara Falls, Canada. I was born in 1961 so your nostalgia content is bang on.

Hearing you say "it's crazy there's people in their 20s that follow me" - I'm 17, and honestly I think you're the sweetest. I remember the first video I watched of yours, it must've been a 70s magazine flip through and I was so enamored with your personality and the way you reflected on your teenage years. There's something so authentic about the last few decades of the 20th century as opposed to now and it's a shame we didn't carry that over. Even just hearing my parents talk about the 80s, it's like missing something I never even got to experience, when no one took the little things for granted.

It’s so fun as a younger person to dive into the catalogue era of shopping. My dad often talks about those days. He’d laugh and say, “growing up, you had to pick up a telephone and call people when you ordered something! There were no apps!” 😂 listening to you talk about COD was fascinating. Hello, Jeannie! I love listening to your stories from your youth and childhood, and I really enjoy watching these vintage american magazines. I am russian and my parents and my grandparents grew up in Soviet Union and somehow unconsciously at the back of my mind I compare your youth and your life with my grandma's. And OH MY GOD, it is such a big difference in life style! I mean, americans are total contrast to Soviet People of 1960-1970. You americans were always soo free and so open and so much were happening in your lives and technologies were so much ahead of what it was in Soviet Russia. What can I say when in 60s-70s you, guys, had cars and went crusing just for fun! It could be a dream for a soviet youngster of that time! I mean, how different the world is! Jeannie, you are such a beautiful, neat and good-looking lady with an open mind and open heart. Thanks for sharing, I am happy to learn about how older amercian generation used to live first hand.

I am SO grateful for this sponsorship! My mom’s been hunting for hidden object games for months now, and she’s a huuuge murder mystery fan, so she was downright thrilled when I told her about June’s Journey. Plus, she does interior design, so decorating the island is an even bigger plus. Thank you so much for spreading their gospel, so to speak! I’ll keep my eyes out for any mystery show recommendations from her - she’s got every British TV streaming subscription you can think of and then some lol As always, I’m inexplicably grateful to have had your virtual presence this week. Your East Coast kiddo has been practically bedridden the past two days from a flare-up that hit me like a Mack truck, so having something that felt like pleasant company was a much-welcomed surprise…even if the thought of Eggs Boyardee did make me feel even MORE sick 😂😭🙅🏻‍♂️ love and appreciate you, Mama J!

Oh no! I’m sorry you’re sick, and I’m even sorrier for showing you such revolting food! Kudos to your mom for having such an active mind. Apple…tree…yadda yadda! 😁 Get well soon, my dear NJ boy!!

About the towels, me too. I prefer the rougher towel. I was born in 1972. The fluffy towels don't absorb. I hang mine out too when the weather permits! Not often here in New England

Jeannie! This is lovely! You remind me so much of my grandmother who recently passed away. Growing up, I would always ask Her how life was in the 50’s while she braided my hair. Your voice brings me so much comfort and peace! Thank you so much for all the loving effort you put into these videos ❤️ very much appreciated God bless!

That AD about The Hidden Cost Of “Economy” Hams. It's so funny. Because, here we're 60 years later. And we're having an economic crisis. Due to inflation. High prices everywhere. Instead of ham. It's the eggs. That cost $7 per dozen. It's insane. By the way, hello Jeannie. I am 33 yrs old woman. Your voice is so soothing. You're a very classy lady. A real gem. Watch your channel time to time. Helps me fall asleep. Keep up the great work. 😊💕👍

So glad I’m not alone in thinking vintage photos of food are gross. My mom’s 80s cookbooks made me gag looking through them! Love love love this style video, Jeannie! Your stories are so great!

Thank you for sharing your memories in photos and stories. I had a difficult childhood with a single mom and younger sister. My mother did not respect any of my things (she was not sentimental at all), and I have very little photos/memorabilia from my childhood. This may be why I have trouble getting rid of so much of my son's "stuff" from when he was little (I'm trying). I enjoyed your trip down memory lane. Thanks again for sharing with us!

Thank you Jeannie for 'resetting' me. I have been feeling quite anxious and your voice & your company for that hour was completely charming and just what I needed. I almost feel quite 'zen' (for now :), so thank you. I love reflecting on the years gone by, the simpler times. They fill me with a sense of warmth & nostalgia and I do feel sharing our stories connects and unites us all. Take good care.
