It somewhat matches the voice acting in the game, and captures what I always found to be the most chilling aspect of him: The Lord of Destruction does not speak like a tornado of wrath and calamity, but calmly, mockingly, almost joyful. Only like 3 Nephalim could've pulled this off and that is a huge if considering the nature of the three. Uldyssian would've lasted the shortest of the three because of how easily his heart is swayed. Bul Kathos would put up one heck of a fight before he breaks probably with more resistance than even Tal Rasha. Rathma could've handled Baal of eternity without any chance of escape for Baal and with quite possibly very little resistance from Rathma himself.

This whole story is really tragic to begin with. Tal Rasha would be destroyed. His sacrifice in vain. Tal had to know he would have lost. His colleagues should have known he would lose. The horror in this is knowing there is no hope for Tal. Taking a step back, Id say this was a horrible mistake and Tal paid for it dearly while giving baal all the horidic knowledge he had. The worst decision of almost any character in literature in history
@Omishboy Жыл бұрын
They knew it was a terrible option, but only one they had available. The soulstone was damaged and it would not contain Baal alone. A human vessel was needed to combine with the stone and all the binding magic they had. It was better to delay evil then to let it run free. As far as choosing one of the horadrim, well their heroics wouldn’t allow them to choose an innocent. Kulle probably would have, but he had his own agenda and wouldn’t want to let that cat out of the bag.

@@dshaprin My assumption is the Horadrim were not aware of the Hellforge and that archangel Tyrael didn’t give them information. The last time Heaven tried to make a run at the Hellforge (in the realm of Destruction) it cost them many lives and they failed. Tyrael even lost his lieutenant archangel Izual, who become corrupted. Why would he trust the Horadrim to succeed where angels failed? Tyrael might have planned to take all the soul stones to the Hellforge once the demons were collected, but look how long it took that to happen. A leaking stone corrupting those around it and Mephisto would have broke out long before they could capture Diablo.

kinda. and it gave baal a very powerful host. the thing about diablo is that the angels and demons always loose against the nephalem tho. i think that is because anu cast out his evil when he wanted to become a perfect being and this evil formed tathamet. then they fought for ages and killed each other and anu became the high heavens and angels and tathamet became the hell and prime evils. however both sides lack the combination of both good or evil the initial anu had. but then lilith and inarius created sanctuary for all the angels and demons that were sick of the eternal conflict with the worldstone and they had offspring of both angels and demons. so those combine what was divided since the creation of everything when there was nothing but anu. and this is why the nephalem are more powerful and will always best the angels and demons in my opinion. they are far closer to the original anu before he cast out his evil and far closer to the well.. "godhood" than either of their angelic and demonic ancestors could ever be.

that's a good point tbh. but i figure it could be explained much like medieval surgery or trying to amputate someone's leg without the use of anesthetics, the person will struggle even if they agree to the procedure because its quite painful, and the brain's natural reaction is to fight to prevent it, agreement be damned. its actually kind of scary that the brain ultimately supersedes one's own conscience and choice. the "you" that makes you, you, no longer get a say in it, the brain itself takes 100% control. this is also why only a few people can perform true self mutilation, because there's something fundamentally wrong with their brain. some kind of error that allows the individual to override this phenomenon. now, i am no medical expert or brain surgeon, but i would imagine that this is what occurs. the brain that makes you, you, is actually only _allowing_ that to be the case, but once your life (and thus the brain) is threatened by danger, it will kick into self-preservation mode and essentially corrupt your ability to make decisions on your own. its truly fascinating to think about.
@masterexploder9668 Жыл бұрын
Self preservation is a natural reflex, volunteering to be bound forever to wrestle with a powerful demon obviously isn't good for your health. And Baal's lies were particularly nasty, because there was always a grain of truth to them. Kulle did prove himself to be a shady guy, but not sure when it really started. Horadrim got involved into their own petty conflicts over time and disbanded. No other alternative was developed to improve Baal's prison. It also doesn't look like Tyrael paid frequent visits here, though clearly he could blink in at moment's notice when required.
@ZugzugZugzugson Жыл бұрын
@@masterexploder9668 yeah kind of a dick move by the horadrim to just be like "oh well, i guess that's the best we can do" instead of continuously pursuing a more permanent and less risky solution. as we can see, all it took for their masterplan to turn into a world ending catastrophe was one opium addict in the wrong place at the wrong time, and with Tyreal being distracted by the wanderer, all the stars were aligned perfectly for this to happen.

seems like a tad of an understatement to equal "eternity" to "years and years" which makes it sound like there's going to be reprieve after like a decade or two, when really, this struggle would go on forever if left untouched by a certain idiot's hand. Marius's ignorance didn't just doom the world, he effectively nullified everything that Tal'Rasha had done and all those years of immense torture was essentially for naught as a result. if i was Tal'Rasha, i would be thankful for the relief from the anguish, but deep down i would be pissed that my many years of unbearable torment (which must have felt like a hundred human lifetimes) ultimately meant nothing... and then of course there is the fact that by freeing him, Marius straight up killed Tal'Rasha in the process too. and then the idiot ends up in an asylum somewhere and HANDS THE STONE BACK TO BAAL on top of it all in the end. if he had just died from an OD of copium in that drug den The Wanderer found him in, none of this would have ever happened. Tyrael would have defeated the lone wanderer inside that chamber and the world would have been saved. but of course, that would mean we get no game to play, so i can see why blizzard needed a useful idiot to make the story happen. what i have always wondered is; what convinced Marius that pulling that stone out was a good idea in ANY way, shape or form? like, you see a literal angel fighting your very questionable companion who only days/weeks prior to this, burned down a drug den after summoning a horde of demons and undead and killed everyone inside and you STILL go ahead and pull out the stone?! Marius deserved everything he got and worse for what he did. in fact he was lucky his death was as quick as it was, which might have been the only ounce of mercy Baal ever showed anyone. Baal wasn't lying when he referred to the manner of Marius's death as a "reward".

I mean Marius was pretty weak and easily corrupted. He spent a lot of time around Diablo, so I'm sure he was under his influence. The guy was having wild dreams and hearing voices, so I don't think he was in his right mind. He was compelled to follow Aiden, despite everything that happened at the den. I mean look at the state he was in at the asylum, the man's whole mind was shattered. I'm not defending his actions at all, but imagine being a frail old mortal tied up in the affairs of demons, and seeing the things he saw, it was probably fuckin crazy. I know he's really just a plot device, but seeing his side of the story, from the perspective of a basic elderly human, is a nice reminder that not everybody is a glorious hero making all the right decisions all the time.

🤦♂️ Are you an idiot? This come from the Diablo “Tales of the horadric”, he is just telling us what it says in an engaging way by voice acting what it says in the book.

These days instead of the cutscene at the end Blizzard would have put notes and visions all over the floor interrupting your skeleton smashing.

Now that Mephisto is back in Sanctuary, he may begin to corrupt Nyrelle, while Diablo and Baal likely have their own plans to return. Could this have been the Prime Evil’s plan all along? After all, Lilith was the greatest threat they’ve ever known. At least this gives us lots of enemies to battle in future Diablo 4 updates!
@bradleymontgomery3766 Жыл бұрын
Something tells me that the only Prime Evil we will fight in Diablo 4 updates will be Mephisto since the main storyline revolved around him & Lilith. I’m betting we will fight Mephisto, only to end the storyline with Diablo (& or Baal) returning either within a soulstone or free & strong. Thus continuing the franchise into Diablo 5… giving them an easy set up for it without too much thinking & effort. I really hope not, since the cycle will forever continue it seems, but that’s my guess!

Damn Dash, I heard your voice convey the agony of Tal Rasha's sacrifice through your voice acting at @3:50, that was brilliant. Good work man!

So, Tal Rasha's last act of defiance, of giving Baal a taste of his own medicine... Hell Bovines. Baal had found the Secret Cow Level. Baal did not appreciate.

Wasnt charsi in immortal? Pretty sure she was. The barb was supposed to be in d3, it was cut because things woukd be needed to be explained (power loss, etc) but i like to think of that as cannon. The sorc was killed between d2 and 3, paladin and druid is completely unknownamazon we know and necro too

This was so good. your voice acting was spot on. I would love if they did something like this in POV of Aidan during after he defeated Diablo up to the point he was fully consumed.

Agreed!!! That transformation was all encompassing. This guy would be the perfect person to create it too.
