Thanks for this, I was getting stuck sussing out why I couldn't do what I could do when I used to own an S2000 in regards to having the same sample with different start points on different keys, bang, found this video. I thought the start point was global to layer 1 and that I needed to use layer 2 to select same sample with different start point meaning only four edits max. Will watch again whilst using Tal, cheers. 😊

understandable! it stumped me at first, but once you get it down its a really easy sampler to use. enjoy :)

Love it! Think I’ll have to do a Tal Sampler video after seeing this. That real time timestretch density trick could yield some cool results.

Great tutorials - appreciate the under-the-hood view of your processes. I have a question regarding sample triggering in TAL sampler (which I have). Is TAL's sample triggering method similar to Ableton's Simplers 'retrig' mode in Classic mode or the trigger mode of the 1-shot mode? Can it be changed between the two? I prefer the Trigger mode but can't see a way of setting that up in TAL. Seems to be set to a retrig mode by default.
@Thought-Forms10 ай бұрын
cheers reggie! not sure how ableton's simpler works,, but tal-sampler will follow the AHDSR envelope (ENV1) for sample playback. that said there is a "one shot" toggle you can enable under the MASTER SETTINGS which will disable the AHDSR ENV1 and use 1-shot as the playback method. that what you were looking for?

Hi, great video, many thanks! Does the cyclic effect apply to all samples in the layer? Visually it looks like it does (or would), but listening it sounds like it does not - the first samples that you mapped seem not to be affected.

thanks for the tut.. I have TAL Sampler and when I load my amen break it's at normal speed / james brown sample.. is there an easy way to auto time stretch or should I just slice up the sample the old school way , then bounce and THEN import into TAL?
@Thought-Forms2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed this comment - no there isnt. Lately I've just been doing it the old school way: load the sample into Tal-Sampler, set my DAW tempo and loop the sample over however many bars it is, pitch it up in tal-sampler until its a tight perfect-ish loop

Do you normally leave your breaks stereo after you’ve sampled them from a record or do you bounce to mono? It would be best to leave them stereo to keep the high hat panning etc no? I bounce mine to mono generally and pan the hats to the way I like em.
@Thought-Forms2 жыл бұрын
Not usually - if I'm sampling with hardware I'll always sample in mono. In the box I almost always convert to mono unless I forget. One of the reasonings as you mentioned, can place them exactly where you want
@Rulon-bo1ig2 жыл бұрын
@@Thought-Forms good tip! Thanks for showing me what tal sampler can do, the software sampler with the features I’ve always wanted, really interesting price too, I had to find something to replace akaizer time stretch cause its not supported on new Mac OS anymore, this one sounds really authentic. I had the s3000xl and I sold it stupidly, now I don’t have room for a studio so I just use software.
@Thought-Forms2 жыл бұрын
@@Rulon-bo1ig of course! I much prefer this over akaizer, and the workflow is a lot nicer too. bummer on the 3000xl - they're still relatively cheap compared to some of the others if you ever decide to get some more room. tal-sampler is a great compromise either way, enjoy!

Is there any way to sync the loop on the BPM of the track? For example in this case both the loop and the DAW tempo are at 165. What If I wanted to play the Amen Break on a 130BPM project?
@Thought-Forms Жыл бұрын
Hey Erald - there isn't sadly :( Tal-Drum has a few more pieces of functionality to help with tempo syncing, though it is largely more based on an MPC type workflow

Great video thanks heaps! One question, when I try the cyclic time stretch it’s applying the effect to all of the slices rather than just one, any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

@shortattentionspa..... Жыл бұрын
I can get it to work by mapping the time stretched breaks on a second layer (this in ableton 11 with tal version 4.2.3) but would be great to figure out how to do all in one layer

akaizer has more of that flavor you want, too bad its not a vst2, or vst3.
