Trek makes the most slick and best looking bikes in the market while delivering the performance. I get that you also pay a bit more for the brand name etc. But still i think they are not busted expensive. I went for 2022 Slash 9.8 XT battleship matte blue. What a bike in performance and what a bike in terms of looks. Wherever you ride, everyones eyes are on your rig bike park or just local grocery store. I have had people literaly stopping car and asking what the fuck is that bike xD. I told him it was an 8000 dollar bike and he was like wtf haha. My local people were i live have approached to look at the bike closer, chekced the tiers and ramset and shit. Im not a clout chaser, i care about the ride. But kind of nice and good feeling when people are amazed and comment about how amazing the bike looks ;) Im also 6.8 ft so went for XL size. I expected it to be big, but i was a bit worried since my bike prior was XXL. But it was bigger than my previous bike. Its so big it looks like an absolute tank on top of the slick looks.

How often do you ride? I know the shop life isn’t conducive to riding often, but it looks like you gotta get to some fun trails more! I’d love to show you around trails like Nevada City, Truckee, and even the good spots at granite bay. I’ve been watching since your early Marlin videos. Let me know if you got time 😁

What’s the difference in ride feel between the slash and the fuel ex?
@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 2 жыл бұрын
I’ll give my personal thoughts after Ive ridden both to compare, but I know from other people that the slash will be harder to climb uphill due to the slacker geometry thats designed for more downhill riding. It can still do it though, just slower than the fuel. The slash is a longer bike overall which makes it much more stable downhill so you have more confidence in the bike going down than on the fuel ex. On my short rides so far the slash felt faster going downhill and honestly didn’t do bad going uphill either

Hey any chance of a comparison between the 2023 gen 5 Dual sports? These seem like an interesting departure from previous generations…ie abandoning the shocks and beefing up the tyres.
@mattnielsen7639
@mattnielsen7639 7 ай бұрын
They are not even remotely close to being the same and are for very different purposes. Dual sport is a light gravel bike...not meant for serious MTB while the Slash is a true MTB capable of most terrains up and down including jumps.

The Trek Slash 9.7 comes in at around $5,000 with a carbon frame like the Giant Reign currently, but yeah the ZEB is still better on the Giant so that's a good option for sure

Ikr, he's probably spent over $10000 on a roscoe, slash, carbon fuel ex, specialized enduro and a really nice road bike. His skills doesn't match the level of bikes he owns, I don't have any carbon, no full suspension, or long travel suspension. He doesn't need any of these bikes, it's a big waste of money since they're not cheap at all and idk if he even maintains these bikes because you need to do service on suspension but I highly doubt he does that

@stormihusky7124
@stormihusky7124 2 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree, if his skills were to meet the needs of a long travel enduro bike or aggressive hardtail than it makes more sense, it's just spending way too much money in a short span of time. Most riders don't have as nice of bikes that he has, let alone so many including carbon fiber frames

Absolutely nothing wrong with having a nice bike, I went from a cheap Walmart bike and modified it with a rockshox judy air fork, 1x12 sram gx that I got entirely used on ebay to save money and tubeless tires/rims over a year span. I know my riding style is ready for a proper trail bike but I can't afford a trek roscoe 7/8 or something similar atm since inflation is up and bills as well. Constant spending is immature and not very good on bank records with such large spending in a short period. Not hating on him at all, but he's so overbiked and probably spent close to 20k in almost 2 years on bikes alone
@andrewross219

The trek employee discount is at cost. So realistically he’s making out like a bandit and can easily cash in down the road. Don’t be jelly. Most of us ride like crap and we would love to have many bikes.

So I'm absolutely no hater by all means and I respect how far he's come on his KZbin Channel but there's some issues. For one his riding skills don't match the level of bikes he's purchasing, he's still a beginner rider and I can immediately tell. So having enduro full suspension bikes, in aluminum and carbon with fox suspension/higher end rockshox is overkill and is not justified to have so many nice bikes. Another issue is he doesn't really know how good pthe components are, for example saying rockshox yari isn't too great, or the line comp 30 rims are low end with generic hubs is very wrong. I have a budget hardtail with 100mm travel judy and 23mm rims with very low point of engagement but I've been on true intermediate trails with multiple decent jumps and faster decents but I don't have a full suspension bike with such big suspension. Again I'm not hating him at all, but this is getting ridiculous to spend some much and so often on luxury bikes.

Thank you for your comment! I agree with you actually that buying this many bikes is insane HAHA. Think I’m just recovering from the whole bike boom and shortage so when I saw some bikes finally in stock I decided to jump on them before I was fully ready. Still fun to go over the specs and everything on the channel though, and I definitely will get around to riding them all. And yeah the Yari and those wheels are not bad by any means, but I was trying to say that getting line comp 30 wheels on a $4,000 bike when they come on bikes half that price seems unfortunate. They’re good wheels for sure, but at this price point I think its pushing it a bit. And the yari is great too! Most people including myself love this fork but at the same time those who have tried higher end ones do consider the yari to be a lower quality fork and lower quality version of the lyrik. I definitely appreciate your comment and thoughts and do see where you’re coming from though. Thank you for watching!

The parts spec on the Slash 7 is a mix and love that they add the XT rear derailleur. As for fork, the Yari is a good with not so damper. The Yari that I have had on older bikes always got a Charger upgrade. The wheels are actually really nice are the same that came on my 22 Slash 8, but I have switched out to a set of Race Face Turbine R wheelset. For someone getting into enduro riding, you've chosen a great bike that upgraded as you progress. The brakes are actually the only thing I'd change right away. Stick with Shimano and put some XT 8120s or SLX 7120s. Stick with 4 piston.
