I'm not gonna lie, this is my first time actually seeing Riley perform. I've been so distracted by the many other gifted singers. That said, this 16 year old impressed me so much. She has a beautiful voice, sounds like a pro, and holds her own with Brett. Good lord, she's 16

Kati Perry acts surprised. I repeat acts! Cause from the beginning she did not want to give Riley the props she deserved from the start. The coaches/judges whatever you want to call them push some contestants over others and it has NOTHING to do with talent. First of all most candidates here are good, very, very good. But K Perry and Co have so bias and it is so transparent. Riley's got it all: Voice and Look. Yes she is very young and has no life experience she can lean on for her performances. But she has so much space to grow and the talent is already here. She should be signed now. She will sell records. Not sure about the others no matter how talented they are. There is a market for Riley in Country Music much much much more than for Laci Kaye Booth who frankly becomes kind of boring at the end. The girl is talented, but after 3 songs in her concert, honestly you'll fall asleep. Riley has the kind of energy that can hold a whole concert. I know she smiles too much, but they what? Why not? she is going through an amazing experience at a very young age, she has a gift. She should be happy and smile all day long!!! We have had it with all the sad stories, over scripted and over done. We're watching a show to be entertained, to bring us of our thought, our stress, our daily problems not to be pulled into misery!!

The duet arrangement doesn't work from a musical perspective. She is a soprano and Brett is a tenor. He is singing lead and she is singing the accompaniment of the harmony even though she is a soprano. Not a very good arrangement by whoever wrote the arrangement. Soprano should sing lead. I think the show wanted the song to sound too much like Brett's record so she never really took the lead in the song. Brett could have easily performed the back-up harmony. He's versatile enough. Other than the so-so harmony arrangement, this tune remains one of Brett's best.
