I had 3 children. My husband was useless. I asked to hire help cleaning and he said no. He would lounge around all evenings and weekends watching TV. Even when I worked, my husband was insistent that I do all the cooking and cleaning. Also, he criticized everything, as if he knew anything about it.

I feel this so much. ❤ I’m in this situation currently; not with 3, but with 1. I work full time and am in school full time. I do everything around the house, for the most part, despite him promising to do all the cooking and helping me out with other stuff. I also work at a job where it is extremely emotionally taxing-I’m a counselor, where I periodically lose clients in tragic circumstances like su1cide or overdose. I actually just had one of my closest clients who I worked with for a year every day in an intensive outpatient basis die-I found out on Tuesday-I think she took her own life. And then on Wednesday, someone I was supposed to have an intake with overdosed. I am so overwhelmed I am just sitting here crying. 😢I can’t do it. The worst part, he’s in the field and I thought he would be emotionally supportive but it’s so disappointing. I’m so tired.

This sounds absolutely horrible and abusive. In this day and age a husband can’t expect a WORKING wife to carry out all the “traditional” gender roles like our mothers and previous generations did, times have changed. Worse he refuses for you to hire help. I’m sorry you have a very toxic patriarchal husband. I truly empathize with you! I’m just shocked and disgusted for the total disregard of your well being as a working mother. It’s sickening!

These stories remind me so much of my health issues. When I am flaring, my weight drops. People congratulate me! Yet I am sick and feel awful. It's like no one cares about the truth behind anything. These stories break my heart. So many awful men. I think [some of] the experiences would be a lot different with more supportive partners in their lives 😞 I never felt the call to be a parent or have children. Definitely something my husband wanted more than me. I have a 7 month old son now and love him to pieces. But I'm very honest about pregnancy, post partum and motherhood; whenever anyone asks me questions. I won't sugarcoat things. Like everything in life, you can love some parts of it while disliking others

These stories are so sad. Motherhood is very difficult but it is also very fulfilling. Both things are simultaneously true. The common thread here seems to be how lonely and unsupported these moms are. That and the identity crisis once baby gets here which is very common. It has nothing to do with the baby and everything to do with them and their surrounding circumstances. I hope they can get the support they need and see their babies for what they are: a beautiful gift despite the huge responsibility ❤
@durrr1007
@durrr1007 4 ай бұрын
So no, it’s not fulfilling for everyone. No matter what you do not everyone will be happy they had kids. See the thing is if you don’t have kids and you later regret it there’s only one victim of that choice.
@Jendian
@Jendian 4 ай бұрын
@@durrr1007 i guess it’s the same of everything in life. It’s about perspective. Some people like working and find it fulfilling others don’t, some people like working out some don’t, some like driving others don’t, etc. I understand people are inclined to different things but that doesn’t mean that the stories shared here about women in miserable circumstances and most of it is not their kids it’s their partners and family. Rewatch and see
@Jendian
@Jendian 4 ай бұрын
@@durrr1007it may not be fulfilling for everyone but rewatch the video. Almost all of these women are in terrible situations and have zero support from their partners and family. That’s the main issue. I’m willing to bet at least half would feel differently if they had the support they needed. They don’t have the opportunity to enjoy motherhood bc they are completely alone in raising their child(ren) and that’s very tough 😕
@durrr1007
@durrr1007 4 ай бұрын
@@Jendian not necessarily. Of course it’s good to support women but this video is about the fact that women do regret having children. You can say “if only they had xyz” but the reality is that no one ever will have everything that would make them love motherhood. That’s not the world we live in. And so deferring to being childfree is a smarter choice for everyone including yourself considering the current state of the world not the utopia you want to exist. Defaulting to having kids because that’s what we’re told we should do is not good. It should be the other way around.

I don't recall anyone ever saying how easy motherhhod was. I truly believe all these women are just clueless, didn't babysit or care for younger siblings. Then they are stunned about how difficult being a parent is. I feel sad for any woman who regrets becoming a mother. I just hope you dont share that with your children. Also, the greatest lie ever told to all women is that you can have it all. You can in fact, not have all. Sacrifices will always have to be made in some area of life.
