Tales of Symphonia - Zelos VS Abyssion (Using Menu Overflow Glitch)

Skill Menu Overflow Glitch:
This is a glitch that makes it possible to equip skills that normally shouldn't be accessible through the menu, such as Mystic Artes and skills that were cut from the game. This is exclusive to the Chronicles version.
How to do it:
1. Open a character's skill menu.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu.
3. Press the right Analog stick down.
4. Press the right Analog stick up until the skill number in the top left corner says "0."
5. Press left on the D-Pad or the Analog stick to scroll through the skill list. You can press both the D-Pad and the Analog stick at the same time to scroll faster.
Where the skills are placed on the list will be different if you switch your character with another one in battle. I switched Zelos with Genis because it made Shining Bind (Holy Binds) easy to find.

Love these type of videos. Not sure if you know about us in the speedrun community for Symphonia but the proper explanation as to why you can find the mystic artes is because it’s actually pulling data from the character you place on top of said character as all artes share a specific index number for example Genis’ Force Field and Lloyd’s Falcons Crest share the same index numbers making it easy to just overflow into Genis’ Arte list essentially while still having Lloyd displayed thus tricking the game into giving us the beta artes and mystic artes.

Great video ! I understood that the glitch is about using Holy binds like a regular arte, but I didn't understand how you managed to do all those regular arte one after the other without letting Abyssion the time to react ? I mean, normally, after the third artes in a row, Zelos should've pause, but in your video, he didn't. How come ?

Thanks! Zelos did pause after Demon Fang. But Demon Fang's ending lag is rather short and it's hitstun lasts for a pretty long time. As Light Spear's startup lag is very short, you can combo Demon Fang to Light Spear without actually chaining them. (You have to chain Light Spear to Demon Fang though, so you need Super Chain to do this.) You can see me do it without Super Lighting Blade in this video: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKHCh6WfgKaZfLc

This glitch is good and all too bad you can't actually KEEP the Mystic artes as NORMAL moves via techs transfer (Grade shop) also they get removed from the menu upon Saving the game and LOADING a save file but all you need to do is redo the glitch when that happens but theirs no way to keep the said glitched in moves permanently IE without having to glitch them in.
