I really like how they didnt try spinn Morgan's character as misunderstood or sympathetic. Like sure, she still has her tragic backstory that we all were expecting her to have, but after that the show makes it clear that she wasnt forced or manipulated into doing everything that she did. She straight up was just bitter and miserable and wanted to make those around her just as miserable. Also, holy sh*t. The designs of the Rebel characters with the Clone Wars animation style go hard!

They made her sympathetic until she wasn't. They perfectly showed the spiral down the dark side. She was tragic at first but she let it get into her head too much, then legitimately tried to help her people first but as soon as things didn't go right, she turned that into hate back at her own people instead of looking at herself. And became the very monster that made her.

I find the animation of Filoni so mechanical though. Characters walk and run like robots following a pathway like they are on rails, often keeping in perfect formation walking with multiple characters, turning 90° turns likr they are joined together with the force. The animation fluidity of the terrible SW:Resistance series, that was animated by polygon pictures instead of Lucasfilm in house studio, is far more natural and superior.

Morgan having a chance to move forward from this tragedy, but choosing to slip into further darkness. Barris being offered the chance to embrace that darkness, but chooses to seek the light again. It’s an interesting dichotomy. Although I think two more episodes, one for each arc, would have fleshed it out a bit more. Just my two cents.

I'm theorizing that the friend that Bariss sent the child and its parents to is not Ahsoka but actually Asajj Ventress. Bariss while in hiding would seek not the person she previously betrayed but someone who shares her experience and even fought for the same side before; another former apprentice of Dooku's who has turned from the Dark! Asajj and Quinlan Vos are probably working on the underground railroad for force sensitives and survivors, so it would make perfect sense for Bariss to be cooperating with them by sending the kid's family their way.

A couple of things I noticed; 1. The rebels art style really didn’t do Thrawn, Rukh and Pelleaon justice. 2. Considering Bariss is shown to have become what Ahsoka has (a Light Side Force user out in the wild that no longer considers themselves a Jedi, but still uses their talents & powers to help people when & where they can), I think you might be onto something. I would love the combination of old-guard-who-walked-away Jedi (Ahsoka & Bariss) building a new order with two of the most unorthodox "Bokken" Jedi trained in this era (Ezra & Sabine). Plus seeing Ahsoka & Bariss possibly repair their friendship would be cool.

Would have been great to follow a Storm Trooper around; Or to follow a well respected trooper like Fordo (who we haven't seen in ages) trying to serve; even some politicking would have been interesting. Instead we got one story ultimately following a jedi(ish) and one following an Empire-adjacebt witch. Both great, but feels like more could have been done with the promised Imperial focus.

The dichotomy of one character choosing dark while the other chooses light really works well in Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. I think Tales of the Sith will have Sidious' rise as a Sith Lord (Before Phantom Menace) and have Vader gradually find redemption (Post-Empire Strikes Back). We could see Sidious training under Darth Plagueis and Vader going through the same Force trials as Qui-Gon, Yoda, and Obi-Wan had done to become a proper Force Ghost. This makes sense as Vader did not have any rage and was very passive during the events of Return of the Jedi when it came to conversing with characters like his son Luke.

in relation to your clone underground series prediction/desire. I wonder if this type of star wars series will be the format we get when they return. "Tales of the Underground" "Tales of the Clone" another interesting idea is "Tales of Mandalore" in their reconconstruction phase as they are retaking/populating Mandalore after the events of the live-action series. an episode taking place during order 66 after The Seige of Mandalore. another being the Empire glassing the planet (leading up to or aftermath?). maybe some insight into the Armorers cult or about the weird droid Mando & Bo katan ran into, plus those rock skiff riding Mandalorians. end with an episode of the recolonisation of their planet. though idk what the next season of The Mandalorian has in store for us so we'll see what their fate will be then.

Something that I'm bothered by is why Barriss looks so old in the end. Yes a bit of time has obviously passed but clearly not as much time as to where the Empire has fallen. I bring this up because Barriss and Ahsoka are roughly the same age, yet when we get to Empire era in fully swing Ahsoka looks like she's barely aged much unlike Barriss who now looks like she's middle aged. This is especially weird as Lin looks exactly the same as she did when Barriss ran away from her. What gives?

I think this was somewhat lacking. There were some good bits: the battle of dathomir, thrawn, the new republic being just as corrupt as the empire. I liked seeing the Venators continuing to flank the ISDs - seriously, the Empire couldve had a winning strategy using Venators as fleet carriers and support ships. I was a bit let down that these episodes werent really about the empire, and save for thrawn, continued to pump out petty villany. A galaxy spanning empire cannot simply pummel its subjects into submission and have the reach and influence it had. The "slow descent" into tyranny that was shown in Andor is missing, so that means the Empire has offer something people want. I found Barris' story pretty pathetic. She was so resolved that the Jedi had lost their way she framed her best friend; that thread couldve been pulled on much harder, but no shes gotta have a redemption arc.

the frustration of this show was it needed longer episodes, maybe even a full hour per episode to properly tell the story cause it so frustrating when Bariss's story was getting going...and it's over

On the Rice thing, I'm genetically Irish. my family immigrated to Canada during the Potato famine and started... a potato farm... In the Ottawa valley. My Granny grew up 3 generations later on that same farm during the great depression. To this day that woman still cooks with rotting vegetables, and will take food out of the garbage and put it in the fridge if she deems it's "still good" I on the other hand just got a deep love for the nutrient dense power food that is potatoes.

Hear me out guys, tales of the clones. Disney could show us missions clones undertook that wasn’t shown in the clone wars, and it would give us a chance to see clones that weren’t featured as much like bacara, neyo, fordo, delta squad, foxtrot group, etc.

Nah, Rebels was Filoni's magnus opus, that was the show he was heavily invested in the writing, and basically was his vision. Clone Wars was basically George Lucas, and later Filoni telling the show's writers to just do whatever they want.

Biggest drawback during Rebels was Filoni stepping back from being in charge of the episode direction, resulting in Seasons 3 and 4 having very static camera usage and less creative shots.

The Morgan episodes show that there are indeed more clans in Dathomir and, even though they are light and dark clans, they give each other space. The women still seem to be the leaders in this case, is there a light side male clan? Edit: how much does the Morgan story disputes the Thrawn novels?

I like the concept of Tales of the Empire and Tales of the Jedi, but I was very disappointed by the Barriss Offee ark. When we last saw her, she was turning to the dark side. And then after being imprisoned by the Jedi I'm supposed to believe that she abandoned the dark-side path she had already started going down? She wasn't a character that I wanted to see be redeemed. She had a great backstory to make an impressive villain, and they wasted it.

I personally like the growth of Barris. She was a confused and scared individual during the Clone Wars, but the horror of the empires atrocities gave her the clarity she needed to see that the Jedi (not necessarily the Jedi order institution) were right in their beliefs. The Sith ideology is just a bunch of nonsense, whereas the Jedi, like democracy is a flawed system that actually works much better for society than any autocratic regime. Dictators only win when chaos and misinformation plague society enough to generate confusion at which point people search for an egotistical maniac to look up to, even willing to give away personal freedoms. At the end of the day, the true villain of Tales of the Empire is Palpatine, as he ordered the destruction of Morgan Elsbeth's people and created the Clone Wars which made Barris lose her way. At least Barris had the clarity to realise she was on the wrong side even if it was too late. Morgan on the other hand, doubled down for the regime which destroyed her life and it led he onto a path of pain and destruction. Very sad story 😢

Thank you and May the Fourth be with you!🩵 After the tales of the empire, I really hope they make a Old Republic series or a movie; However, they're going to replace the sequel trilogy with the Heir of the Empire story. And for the next crossover story after Captain Rex vs Lara Croft, is a Techno-Organic War between the Yushan Vong vs the Reapers (Star Wars Legends vs Mass Effect)

There's a chance Morgan isn't as dumb as Dooku, and joined the Empire without realising the Emperor is the reason her people were wiped out. Perhaps maybe she's vying for revenge on him, though nothing has shown that she's aware of it yet. I hope Her story does something with all that, but given what happened in the Ahsoka series I doubt it will.

I had no expectations or was slightly pessimistic, however I thought this was a good run. I don't think it reaches highs of TOTJ, but the quality was better overall; there was a few TOTJ episodes I felt weren't the best. And yeah, I think Barris deserved a longer format and Morgan isn't my favorite character of all time, but I think what we got was good; Fourth Sister massacring a village, while Barris protects a child will remain with me for awhile. I just really wish they would get away from the 3 - 4 era with animation and branch out! Give us an animated show during the GCW, with appearances from Luke, Han, Leia, adult Omega, Rex, Ahsoka, Sabine, and Bo Katan; make a prequel show about Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Satine or a young Dooku show; heck, I would take a New Republic animated show between 6 and Mandalorian. Just move out of the same old stomping grounds.

Miyazaki's influence on Filoni is one of the things that makes him special, but it is also one of the problems for some fans. Miyazaki is not literal, he is not explicit, he likes to leave things open for the viewer to play and think about what is happening. Silences and pauses are as important as words and movement. And his stories sometimes do not develop in a linear way, but in circles. And this contrasts with American cinema, and much of European cinema. While Andor uses a two-minute monologue to develop the characters and shows each situation on screen. Filoni refers to an old friend of Barris, he does not give you the satisfaction of that reunion between Barris and Ahsoka, not even the certainty, because that emptiness, that longing, is what emphasizes the importance of forgiveness in the entire story, and the last chapter, the tension What fills that void generates is part of the narration of the story. Barris can find her way, her redemption, her second chance, because she is forgiven. In the same way that Vader can redeem himself thanks to the understanding and love of his son. Just like Morgan never found understanding or forgiveness for his mistakes. Circles and fill in gaps.
