My guess for why the clips are there are that they didn't like the original footage, they wanted to show more characters, or they wanted to transition scenes better, since there are also clips parodying TOV, TOW2, the Abyss anime, TOS2, etc. As for why they used those specific characters, it's based on matching seiyuu: Genis' seiyuu also voices Sealand, same with France and Zelos (as well as the beginning image: Natalia's seiyuu voices Hungary, Italy's with Richard, and America's with Lloyd).
