It was an honor contributing to this (“Rage” and “No Good Deed”) and to be able to provide the 40k fandom with Lamenters stories in general, considering how GW/Black Library refuses to provide us with official stories about them despite their popularity. I have written other Lamenters fanfics that can be found on my AO3 page (linked on my channel), including “Underserving,” a prequel-story to “No Good Deed” which tells of the Lamenters’ refusal of the Iron Halo in detail. A big thank you to Paul for another fine compilation, and an equally big thank you to the listeners for their support. For those we cherish! ~ T.T

Rage is such a saddening short, the idea of going into a mad rage only to have short moments of lucidity where you know nothing of what has happen, what is happening. Seeing your Spiritial leader stand above you while you have been chained down, unable to move. The true fear felt by the astartes who cannot feel fear must be unimaginable, the end where the Chaplain steps out after his brother falls back into his madness, his tears falling under his helmet, having to lie to his brothers of what theyve done in their fevers over and over again whenever they become conscious again.

No Good Deed hits extra hard as someone who's fought depression. The suffocating depths, the feeling like your best accomplishments aren't good enough and you should have done more, contrasted with the bright flash of simple joy when the light does manage to break through - and like here, helped along and inspired with the support of a good friend.

The end crushes me, as his brother descends back into the madness that is Sang's final hours aboard the Vengeful Spirit, the way those words are delivered "TRAITOR, FALSE BROTHER, I WILL END YOU, HORUS", only to hear another brother's sane plea of "brothers, where am I". The Chaplin is damned to the same fate as his succumbed brothers, to relive one hellish moment in time over and over again. 😢💔.
