It's too bad you can't have both Dezel and Zaveid in the party. I love them both. It's like Alisha and Rose. Makes me sad, 'cause there's always at least one character missing out on the good stuff. When games use mutually exclusive characters, I prefer it when we get to pick who stays (like Zelos/Kratos). There's still a character missing out, but you get to use the other for the whole story, and can choose for yourself.

Maybe this is one of the aspects that made Tales of Symphonia so popular; this was a decision that had some affect on the rest of the story and it encouraged multiple playthroughs to see everything. I typically play Tales games through at least twice, sometimes a fair bit more but much as I enjoy some things this game brings to the table (like armatizing), replayability is not one of its strong points. The way character replacement works here is not something more playthroughs adds to.

King X Yeah, it could be. I think Zelos and Kratos are pretty popular, so I guess people would replay to try it differently next time. Plus the relationship mechanic gives you different lines and scenes. Zestirira would definitely have more replayability if they'd done it in that style! As it is, I'm on my second PT now, and except for stuff I missed, it's all pretty much the same.

ok imagine this alisha is deemed a war criminal for the death of the general of humans and goes off on the lamb zaveid meets her, and decides to make her his vessel and boosting her resonance when dezel,is about to blast himself zaveid calls him ,a moron and does it instead upon being shot out like that zaveid finds himself to be human after the shot and zaveid gives them the story of what is to happen, zaveid undergoes the squire pact alongside alisha and become able to armatize and that is how I would change the cluster fuck of character development

Somethings to consider. 1. There's a dlc about the adventures of Alisha and Rose (and seraph gang). Probably about events after Sorey defeated the LoC. (I shall search for more information later). 2. ---SPOILERS--- Rose is suspected to be dead at the end of Zestiria (post-mid credit scene). Her two blades are at the grave. On the grave is etched "Numin" (not sure what that means but I'm starting to watch the playthrough of the game.

Zaveid hits on anything remotely female - even when fighting female enemies, all his attack declarations turn into pickup lines (which makes fighting his crucible TOTALLY worth it). Lailah isn't special. Edna, though…Edna is quite special. Personally, I ship him with Edna. She's not ACTUALLY a child, after all, she just looks like one because she wants to.

Zaveid hated Artorius because the Abbey treated Malak as a tool and even turned some of them into a dragon. Meanwhile Sorey is treating anyone with compassion and kindness, and treats Seraphim as his friends.

Looks to me like they were experimenting with things to keep the series fresh, in this case the concept of temporary characters to be replaced by another. This game has two! I commend them for wanting to try some new things but now they've given that a go I hope they never do it again, not quite like this anyway. It appears Dezel is more popular than Zaveid so the great tragedy is who replaces him. Then again this is the sort of thing that encourages more emotional involvement in the game and it is more memorable for it. Dezel at least still has the odd interaction as a gust of wind.

+King X I suspect it's because you actually catch onto a lot of Dezel's tragic backstory and you see him struggling with it, trying to keep his distance while at the same time developing a tough-love affection for the others. Then they replace him with a "mysterious" womanizer and you see nothing really that makes Zaveid the way he is. If they'd gone through the trouble of building on Zaveid's past to give the players a legitimate reason why he /wanted/ to replace Dezel, then the affection for him might have grown. They don't even really go into how Dezel and Zaveid knew each other previously, which might have helped. But, since they didn't, you essentially have the asshole everyone knows and loves being replaced by an unknown who seems to think he's more important than he really is. All Zaveid gets is the distinction of being the 'hottie wind guy.' They don't give him any substance.

As much as people rag on the Alisha deal they actually build up the whole arc around both Alisha and Rose quite well. Alisha is your typical princess who wants to help others. And the game always made a point that she barely had enough resonance to feel the seraph's presence and needed Sorey's help to hear them and later see them. It was obvious she lacked the qualification to be a Squire from the get go and Lailah even hints as such beforehand. And thematically Alisha is just Sorey without shepard powers. She wants to help others, she doesn't like killing and sees the world in black and white. Rose is the other perspective the game wanted to bring to the table. The idea that some people are irredeemable begins when you are joined by an assassin who then takes on the job of killing the Hellions that Sorey can't purify. While Sorey struggles with the idea of killing hellions, Rose has to swallow her pity and take on the role of putting them to rest. And the game eventually leads down the role that not everyone can be saved, not everyone is "pure", so the introduction of Rose and the Assassins was the start of the thematic.

+Robert Shepherd For Mikleo, it'd be more appropriate for him to use a weapon related to the fire element. Traditionally speaking, if you follow Edna's line of talk, Mikleo should be using a sword or dagger since they are forged through flames.
