RUMINATIONS: It was believed by some that I wouldn't get to the Avengers for a while since I'd want to cover all the ones that appeared in the movies first to give people proper grounding, but of course the comics and the movies are a different story. As such, I realized there was only one founding member I hadn't covered yet: the Wasp.
Unfortunately, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not been so kind to Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. While they were still an heroic duo together, at the start of the Ant-Man movie, Janet is lost and presumed dead. It feels kind of disrespectful to a founding Avengers member AND the only female member of the team, at that... and lord knows we kind of need a bit more diversity in the Cinematic Universe considering the significant abundance of white dudes. Hell, since they were going with Scott Lang for the Avengers anyway, why not have it be Janet who teaches him instead of Hank? Just saying, you don't see women mentoring men very much in superhero movies. Even though Hope assisted in his training in the film, she wasn't really a mentor as much as Hank was in it. That isn't to say that the film isn't good, just that since they were already changing how things went that they missed some cool opportunities.
